Summon Night 5 Physical+Digital Interest Poll Up

I have no interest in this game, but am a huge Working Designs fan. I know that supporting this will lead to even better projects in the future. I'm so grateful for the games that Vic has brought over in the PSX/Saturn era that I feel obligated to sign up for this. If only I could find out what other games they have in the works. There are so many other good PSP RPGs out there that need to come stateside.

I'll have to think on it for the night, but will most likely support this. In a world where most games don't even come with a manual anymore I need to do my part.

Right now there's no reason not to. This has no financial investment involved. And the game is supposed it be great, too. I trust Vic in that regard. He's never brought over a bad game.

I hope a few more websites post this news up so that they can get over the hump. They may not make it.

We're getting close to the point where we can do it anyway, just with a price a few bucks higher. 6k was the target for the fan-friendly price I wanted to hit, but if we fall short, we should have enough support soon to still be able to do it with a slightly higher price and/or maybe trim one of the unannounced frills.

We've got until the middle of July, so we'll see how it goes.

As far as the count goes, are you planning for Videogamesplus and any other websites to buy stock to resell?

Thank you for that. We're looking to publish our interview with Vic before the weekend - I'm hoping for Friday.... he's awesome (I know he's posting in this thread too), and I think you guys will really enjoy it. Plus, there's some genuine info there about what this localization means for their company.

Namco... rights to a franchise... something Vic is obsessed with...

I didn't know we had people from nichegamer posting here. Only discovered you a few months ago and I really enjoy your coverage! Looking forward to the interview.

Signed up because I like these guys. Hopefully the game's fun too!

If you're into Strategy RPGs, this is definitely one of the most-fun ones in quite some time. And, in addition to the mainline story battles, there side missions (kind of like Arc the Lad 2's bounty board) with something like 50 more missions with battles.

How long has it been extended?
Doesn't look like it's gonna make it, sadly.

The poll will be up for another 10 days. We're high enough already that we can still do it by bumping the price per unit up like 5 or 10% to allow for the unit volume miss. At the current rate we should finish somewhere in the 4500+ range on the poll.

I understand if you can't answer, but do you take resellers like VGP into account when you do your pricing analysis? I'm guessing it's almost a certainty that they'll want to take some copies off your hands.

We're discussing that with them now, but they won't have the digital code bundled in, just the physical version.

Good to see you guys are open to those options.
I wouldn't mind paying a few extra.

I think it's great that they pick a bunch up. Gives people a second chance that missed out, international-friendly shipping, AND they don't inflate the price. I've never bought from them, but I like what they do :)

There are two new interviews which hopefully get some attention for the final push. Maybe 5k is possible at least?

Nichegamer

RPGamer

Both cover different topics and are worth reading imo.

MAC: How has Sony been involved in helping with the process of bringing this over? UMDs still being made in 2015 seems crazy, but I love it.
VI: Sony has been amazing in this process. Our account manager, Shane Bettenhausen, has moved heaven and earth to accommodate my crazy ideas about fan service. Just like with Working Designs, I'm working to push the packaging and presentation of our games so other publishers will have something to aim for. The physical+digital PSP releases are just one example.

The production time for UMDs is lengthening this year, so SN5 will be affected, but as long as that means we get a stay of UMD execution, I'm sure the fans are fine with that, too. Can't praise Sony enough for keeping this line alive a little longer.

I love that somehow Shane Bettenhausen is involved in this, it makes so much sense haha

I mentioned him, specifically because fans would get it, and he deserves the praise. Almost called him Mangod, but decided against it. Not sure if he actually likes it.

The nichegamer one has unexpectedly veered off the rails in the comments about the fact that if I could do IdolM@ster, I'd take out pedo-bear approved minigames like the one in the first PS3 game where you earn one on one sessions touching young girls all over with your analog stick. For some reason the commenters believe that's a crazy and irrational position, forgetting the fact that even if I were crazy enough to leave that in (I'm not), Sony here would never in a million years approve it for release on their console that way, and it would probably get an AO rating, anyway.

Other than that, the interviews seemed like they went pretty well. :)

It looks like you're dealing with the IF/Neptunia crowd, who eat that stuff up. Where were all these complaints when Atlus removed the quests from Innocent Sin PSP; actual meaningful, story-driven content?

Anyway, I enjoyed the interviews. Sad about the falling out with Meston.

I hope somehow this gets you a deal with Bamco for IM, because that would be stellar.

And this:

Yes! Just got approval on the license for the extra I've been trying to add to Summon Night 5's release. It's going to bump the cost another couple bucks, but when people see what it is, they will be astounded. (At least I hope they are, and I'm not just completely typing-delusional)

Those complaints were around (there was a smallish thread on Gamefaqs at the time). There just weren't many of them because Atlus never made much of a statement about it being removed and very few people realized. If Atlus had said about removing it or it was more widely known it existed you would have seen more of a reaction.

Also its kinda weird to bash Neptunia for that, considering that one of the Agarest Wars games (2 ?) actually had something similar that wasn't removed (for the US release at least), which is why there's a chunk of DLC missing from the EU versions (since I guess it was too much effort to disable that minigame for a couple of characters?) whereas the worst you get from Neptunia is some suggestive CGs and a significant amount of (primarily) homoerotic subtext.

He mentioned a new PR, you'd think the PR would share the information he posts on his own forums.

I didn't really say anything, but people that dig the teasing go to the gaijinworks forums to get it in advance of real news. :)

There is, however, a real press release with real pictures coming for the real world. Every press outlet will have it overnight, so there should be some information out there by morning.

Obviously the Gaijin Faithful should get dibs, riiight? ;)

The thirst is real. When is the game expected to be released?

We have it as "Fall" and are shooting for October. Once the presale is done at the end of August and we know how many we're making, the components of the package (paper goods, OST, holograms, etc) will go into manufacture right away so everything's ready for the UMD when that's done.

Looks fantastic, thanks for all the hard work. I hadn't even heard of this series before the poll and I consider myself a huge JPRG fan. I'm excited to see what further localisations might happen in the future.

That's nice, I guess. Was an OST too expensive to make it work?

We tried to license the OST, but the costs were just too high (just the OST is like $25- $30 retail by itself in Japan)

You dog! Thanks for the OST, it's always my favorite item on limited editions.
