Pandora's Tower releasing on Wii U eShop in NA tomorrow.

Is this good? Rpg?

It's more of an action RPG. I still need to finish it. Got several towers into the game (maybe 4 or so?), but then had to move and haven't bothered to start it up again. The motion controls if I recall correctly were a bit finicky (IMHO) but not horrible. Ah well, maybe seeing this thread I'll be motivated to dive back in sooner than later :)

One of my favorite Wii games, a nice surprise. Basically it plays like a Zelda-like adventure game with RPG elements and the relationship between the two characters gave me some ICO vibes.

Never heard of this, but looking at some footage and impressions it seems like my kind of game. Will buy. Is there dual audio?

Sadly no, but like with most NoE published games from the Wii era, the voice acting isn't Bad at all (the main character being the exception, but he hardly speaks anyway)

I would also rank the game above tls but below xb. The unique mix of zelda, sotc and castlevania did it for me.

Good stuff, bought all three rainfall games at launch, and will buy again on the Wii U.

Loved playing them, and my personal ranking is Xenoblade > The Last Story > Pandora's Tower

I'm not buying if that glitch hasn't been fixed. I already have the disc but I'm not double dipping if that is still in.

Especially if I can't use the super fun Wiimote controls to aim where I fire the chain. I tried dual analog and it was rough.

We don't even know what the NX is or if it has backwards compatibility or what. If you're buying digital titles under the impression they'll be supported on future platforms you may as well stop now because that's never guaranteed.

That's why I haven't bought anything digital on Nintendo platforms...

Still dont have a practical way to play Pikmin 3

I really enjoyed this game too. I'd like to replay it sometime, but the glitch in the disc version was holding me back. It was such a pain to get around. I'm glad North America is getting a digital version. I assume the glitch won't be an issue in the digital version.

I still think Pandora's is better than Xenoblade, and both are superior to The Last Story.

Pandora's Tower was the biggest suprise coming from a studio like Ganbarion.

I hope more people will pick up this game, eat your heart out NA!

Until recently, Nintendo made the only box with legacy support. You're not buying anything digitally from Nintendo because it might not work with the NX?

What did you do when the PS4 came out...?

I stopped buying VC games because I had to pay to transfer them to Wii U mode. It costs them nothing to develop those emulators, and I felt stupid after I transferred some of my games. Its like I'm being punished for buying games instead of rewarded for supporting them.

No more VC for me till I see how Nintendo handles NX, and this is one of the main reasons why PC >>>> consoles.

Xenoblade > The Last Story > Pandora's Tower

Pandora's Tower is great but the economy system is broken, I think there is like no way to even fully upgrade one of your weapons on the first playthrough so some of the funniest moves are forever locked away for most players. It's so unrewarding. It also totally lacks variety, you're running from dungeon to dungeon and, the worst thing, they all have the fucking same music so they don't even feel very different when they should feel different. There is absolutely nothing to do in the hubworld except for the Tamagotchi girl.

I actually see where you're coming from. The fee for upgrading VC games is hands down one of the cheapest, most bullshit things Nintendo's done. I know it costs money to develop a new emulator for a new system, but I expected that to be included with the cost of the system. Why the fuck wouldn't it be? I mean, you have to pay to get true off TV play-you know, the big feature they advertised the Wii U as having. And yeah, it does make me cautious on buying digital releases because I'm worried they'll nickle and dime me with the NX too.

???????? Why wouldn't you? This is a downloadable version of the exact Wii game. It supports everything the disc version does.

Lovely, lovely game. One of the many forgotten gems on the Wii, together with Another Code R, Sin&Punishment 2 and Little King Story.

Nintendo has had the worst digital support of all three consoles for a long time. While every PS and XB user has been able to easily transfer access between consoles, Nintendo has made it a huge pain in the ass at every turn.

While their shitty treatment of Wii to Wii U VC stuff is annoying, my reluctance to buy digital stems from the fact that it's a huge pain to get your stuff onto a new console should you upgrade (say from 3DS to n3DS), sell/trade your old console and get a new one, or lose/break your system.

On say, the PS3 or PS4, I could throw my old system in the trash and buy a new one, and getting all my games is as easy as signing in to the new system. This is not the case with Nintendo, and until it is, I won't suggest anyone buy digitally if there's an equivalent retail version (which isn't often the case with VC, of course).

Right there in the OP.

By "supports Gamepad-only play" they mean you can play the game using the buttons on the Gamepad, which is not a feature that's available for every downloadable Wii game. You still have the option of using the original controls if you so desire (and I agree, they're the best way to play).

Your reading this completely wrong. It says "SUPPORTS" and "GamePad-only play" ...and not "Only supports GamePad." OP should've used the proper terminology, which is Off-TV Play or just say GamePad controls.

All Wii games, downloadable from the eShop or disc versions, work exactly like they do in their original form played on a Wii. They support all the same controllers and features (except for GCN controller support for obvious reasons). Meaning that obviously the game supports Wiimote controls because it's a Wii game and all Wii games support Wiimote controls. You're playing them through Wii Mode, nothing changes about that with the eShop versions. What is new here is that the eShop versions allow the GamePad to be used as a controller for all games that supported the Wii Classic Controller (Pro), a feature not possible with the disc versions since that is a step introduced during the boot-up process of Wii Mode coming from the Wii U menu.

This is completely dependent on how many platforms you have assigned licenses to on Sony Platforms and when you did it. If you've already used all your roaming licenses up and made a purchasing console license transfer in the last 6 months, you're going to have to go Dumpster diving in order to play the digital games licensed to your PSN account.

Any word on Last Story? It's the only of the Project Rainfail list I don't own.

I can't imagine it's off the table at all, although it might be a bit more complicated than this game since it appears there's some IP co-ownership at play, given how Mistwalker has used it in Terra Battle. Nothing insurmountable, but not nearly as cut-and-dry.

Game is so good, if you didn't play it on WiiU you need to play it this time around. One of my all time favorite games and my favorite Wii game.

Just picked this up on the EU store after hearing about it. Crashing on the sofa after a hard days work, with Xenoblade and Pandoras Tower on hand, is pretty sweet. Just need Last Story to hit.

I don't think The Last Story is a unique case. I believe Nintendo shares copyright on all of their third party produced software.

When Mistwalker used TLS in Terra Battle they actually said TLS was property of Nintendo too.

Spoilers about her condition:
She's cursed and has to eat the flesh of beasts to retain her human form. If you fail to deliver her food on a regular basis... well... So yes, it is a major element and plot point of the game.

She was a vegetarian before her curse and a priestess of sorts so you can imagine what she has to go through.
