Uncharted Collection Story trailer

Digital Foundry's framerate analysis:
https://youtu.be/o1X3Wmyn2us

Testing the performance of a demo is one thing, but trailers now? Fuck off, Digital Foundry.

2 > 3 > 1 > Abyss

To each their own but ranking 1 above 3 seems absolutely bonkers.

The gunplay in 3 sucked a big bag of elk dicks before it was patched, so yeah, I enjoyed 1 more than 3 my first time around. Also, to me, the third game felt very much like Uncharted 2.5.

2,1,3 for me.

I see... A single framedrop in a non-playable scene [that was possibly previously a FMV] is gonna wreck havoc on preorder numbers. :D

They confirmed playing campaigns with all Drake skins, which means that most likely they moved a lot of cinematics to realtime rendering. We shall see...

My reasoning is that a dropped frame in a cutscene means that the PS4 is rendering it, a rendering farm likely won't have a problem rendering that.

I dont think that was the point.
Sony's new Uncharted remaster trailer is mostly comprised of pre-rendered cut-scenes, with a smaller amount of clips taken from real-time gameplay. The analysis demonstrates that Bluepoint has completely remastered the cinematics at full 1080p60 - these were 720p30 videos on the original game. There's also been a huge amount of remastering work done to improve the visuals - but more on that in a later video.

Hopefully they include all the little extras (next-gen filter, low gravity mode, etc).

Those were in the same general menu as the skins were so going by how they confirmed skins then those options will also be there. And will be new for UC3.

But the title of the video is, "Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection Story Trailer Frame-Rate Test."

They themselves mention that most of it is pre-rendered video with very little gameplay. The rest seems like a rehash of stuff we already know. Seems unnecessary to me.

I guess I shouldn't complain either way, as I do get annoyed when people come into the demo analysis threads just to announce why they think that such a thing is silly and how uninterested they are.

Bluepoint has found a great niche. Remasters are the order of the day and they are good at it.

It's also a low risk business providing that you don't get a bad rep for shoddy work.

Why are people complaining about that DF video? Seriously, stop being childish, all they did is post a video showing factual, informative frame rate test, I don't want them to walk on eggshells every time they analyze new footage just because a few people are acting childish about it.

No offense.

That's great to hear. I missed bonuses in UC3, it made replays much more fun in UC2.

I made the wife watch the trailer in our living room 5.1 setup loud as hell.

She ok'd the purchase (preorder) right after the third viewing.

Please stop with the horrible youtube capture comparisons. I know you mean well, but the comparison is not representative of the actual game.

Someone needs to get DIRECTFEED shots of U1. Comparisons with YT footage is IMO invalid.

Spoilers for set pieces though.

They're more like playful teases that leave the viewer wanting to experience the thing in full, rather than feeling like seeing it for themselves would be completely redundant.

That's the sign of a good trailer.

Out of context, these scenes all go by far too quickly for someone who hasn't actually played the games to feel "spoiled", or at least I'll just speak for myself.

It would be difficult for me to reply to your post without spoiling something further, so I'll just say there are certainly things in that trailer that you will wish you hadn't seen, context or no (particularly sections of UC3)

So... can we steer AND shoot while using the jet ski in UC1? I still have nightmares about that.

That section would be far too easy if you could steer and shoot.

The models and textures obviously look better in the PS4 version but the colours look so washed out and liveless. The PS4 Sully almost looks like a zombie next to the PS3 Sully. His skin is almost grey.

That's just some of the Youtube "enhanced" filter shit.

Er, what do you mean? You don't have to stop at all to shoot. Just blindfire and you'll hit the enemies as you go about 90% of the time. Blindfire during that section has insanely high accuracy. It makes that section a complete joke.

Unless you mean the part where Elena has the explosive weapon... which yeah the above doesn't work lol.

Blindfire is pretty powerful in general, throughout the entire series. I keep seeing people that are not aware of this, which makes me think a lot of them turtle behind cover while playing Uncharted.

Looks like they put in good work on the assets, the new detail level coupled with 1080p/60fps should make this three adventures well worth a reply (and terrific first experience for those who've never played the originals).
Yes they did, just looked at the trailer in even better quality from Gamersyde and this is the best AA I've seen in a remaster so far, there is little to no shimmering at all, looks like 4xMSAA with some TAA on top or it could be a refined SMAA T2x, I'm quite curious as to what will be confirmed.....

The lighting is the weakest part of this remaster imo. It screams last-gen unfortunately. I'll still buy the f out of this trilogy because i'm a huge Uncharted fan and i made a terrible mistake the day i sold my PS3.

I prefer the lighting in the original cut scenes from Uncharted 3. It looks like the cut scenes are rendered in realtime on Ps4 because a lot of the shaders from the original Uncharted 3 cut scenes are missing in the remaster. In original Uncharted 3, Drake's hair, skin, and eyes had a glean to it. It's missing from the remaster. See comparison pic.

However, it is obvious that there is a texture and resolution bump. The original maps look like they were probably 256 X 256 or 512 X 512. The new maps look to be 4 times that. I don't think they had to redo all the textures, since higher resolution maps should have already been built and scaled down into the PS3 memory.

Thanks for the direct feed screenshots, so here it is the definitive comparison

Okay, I'll put this in the OP. It's funny how well U3 still holds up. The biggest difference, to me at least, will be the frame rate improvement. Can't wait to finally recreate that 60FPS video that Sony showed years ago.

I really want to see some proper gameplay from each of these games now, October is far to far away!!

The demo should be out around the second or third week of September. That's an assumption on my part, but it was stated that it would be out during the summer.

Why though? I personally love the single setting, twist and jungle settings compared to similar locations in the sequels. Better overall gameplay, set pieces and graphics in the sequels? Sure. But the atmosphere made up for that, not to mention the introduction of the characters and smaller scale plot.

Just spent a good part of the day re-creating the entire trailer using PS3 assets. The changes are greater than I had anticipated!
