Just thought It'd be a lil in-joke because some pages back people were talking about short-haired anime girls being great.

But yeah, I will, thanks.

i added it to the OP

it isnt quite what i was looking for

but thanks!

Thanks

that's like half of the list...

Genius Party is an anthology. I have trouble recommending an anthology to any one who is looking for a movie. Baby Blue and Door Bell are the only things I've seen on it, and from what I've heard, are the only reason to watch it at all. Genius Party Beyond didn't have a single name attached to it that interested me.

Thus concludes my opinion piece on Parts 3 and 4 of the list.

Those two are like, the worst in the whole two anthologies...

Watch Wanwa.

Is there no tracking number on the rightstuf order page?

Nope.

They say on their FAQ page that it should be about 2 business days for FedEx to send the email, so I'll wait until tomorrow before getting really annoyed, but yeah.

I've ordered from them before.... hmmm...

I'd just contact customer service. That's what they're there for.

Prison School - 1

Decided to give this a try.

I've never read the manga, but the first episode had way too much going on in it.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
There's another "mascot" but she's not "safe" for "anyone".

Stuff starts happening in the next episode :p

Indeed.

Well things certainly escalated. RIP
any notion of death being meaningful in this show as it seems they're going to immediately revive her ?
Anyways, hurray for the first noteworthy amount of blood being spilled. And for the 'Is she Kuroneko or not" conundrum being resolved. Hilarious choice of music for that scene by the way. Anyhow, last 5 minutes is what I came for, do continue in that vein pls.

Thanks Javac. Going to get Good Luck Girl, One Piece Collection and Fairy Tail Collection.

Good Luck Girl SAVE is DVD only though, unless you don't mind. I figured i'd just wait for the holiday sale to snag the BDs from either Amazon or TRSI.
RightStuf has some good CS of you haven't dealt with them before.

Seconding this. They're usually pretty nice to work with and very helpful.

Hello GAF! I have returned from my mission and 2 year hiatus from anime and stuff ; don't know if anyone remembers me. Maybe cajun or corvo if he's still lurking in this thread.

I have a lot of shows ahead of me guh

Great writeup, pretty much sums up all my problems with the show.
It's always easier to write a long piece about why something sucks instead of praising it :p

The setting/premise is different enough to keep me interested. While it is a bit all over the place in terms of tone and presentation, I don't necessarily think it's that incoherent. Characters are a bit cookie-cutter, but just happen to be the archetypes I like.

Also, if anything is bland, it is the same Key elements being recycled again in Charlotte.

Since Jarmel did a pretty good job at conveying why the show is bad, I won't try to argue our different tastes, people like different things after all and that's perfectly fine.

The only thing I'd like to comment on is that last remark, maybe I used the wrong word but there's a difference between "bland" and "generic".

Charlotte borrows a lot from older shows but that doesn't really matter, all the tropes are in this are used pretty well and it results in a cast where I actually like most of the characters, everyone has at least one strong dynamic with another character which is something that Classroom Crisis severely lacks. The powers are also a clever addition and are used pretty well.

So I'm not saying that Charlotte is some sort of masterpiece or something but in the end it has a very strong sense of what it actually wants to be (even if that conflicts with what the viewer wants the show to be).
I'm not even going to talk about the most recent episode because after that, nobody can say that this show is "bland". Even if that episode completely missed it's mark it was still entertaining. Charlotte is pretty generic but in the end it's also fun and engaging in some way.

So this is where Classroom Crisis completely falls flat, there's nothing in the show that spices things up, neither a super strong dynamic between characters nor an interesting plot, it's this just this mess of every different anime theme/trope they could find just thrown in there for the sake of, I'm assuming, appealing to as much people as possible.

So obviously, if it's done right this can actually result in a pretty good show, there's probably some guy out there who would enjoy a "Bussiness/Sci-fi/Drama/Combat/Slice of Life/Comedy" show but would you really say that the show comes close to actually delivering on even one of those subjects?

Everything Bussiness related falls completely flat since it's really not grounded to anything in reality, there's no tension when our character can magically conjure up any money they happen to need in one brainstorming session.

Jarmel already touched on most of the other things so I won't go in any detail to explain why all the characters in Classroom Crisis are unlikeable and just plain one dimensional.

Prison School 2-3

All I hear is Ararararagi

When he's thinking about perverted things his inner Aragi really shines.

in any case I've been inactive here and on anime since November 2013; what have I missed

Check out the AnimeGAF shows of the year threads in the OP, lot's of great stuff in there.

Well, sure. What I meant was that I didn't feel like my understanding was lacking from having missed something. The character development from episode 11 to 12 flows together perfectly. Were it not for this forum, I wouldn't even know that there was anything inserted in that gap.

So that's what I meant by not feeling like I missed something. The two episodes flow together really well. At this point, I feel like it would be a shame to watch something else set between them.
yeah, the way the two episodes go together is why I recommend saving it. if you watch 11.5 after 11 I think it actively harms the experience.
I personally think I would have thought much less of the show if I hadn't seen 11.5. For me it made it a true serialized experience rather than just a series of stories stitched together with loose story development.
I can't remember if the novel writer gets the credit for 11.5 or the Kyoani writers/directors, but it's one of the few times I was impressed with characterization in anime in terms of being able to use the medium of television.

(Endless Eight is still the best television event of course lol)

Well, if you skip 11.5 Oreki's sister is just there all of a sudden. That's kind of weird.
Well and just Oreki going from being exposed as a fraud of the highest magnitude to suddenly being back to his old self again in the festival arc.
I think it needed that denouement.

200 bucks for 3 concerts is probably good considering the normal pricing. I wonder if they're subbed?

Utena.

Hint hint hint.
I know. Yuri Bears ruined it though, so what can I do. lol

Not that Classroom Crisis is very good, but I don't understand the criticism that it's trying to be to appeal to everyone by being everything. It's not really all that atypical in that amount of things it is tackling. Charlotte is even worse when it comes to tonal shifts and trying to cover multiple genres, but that's Jun Maeda for you.

Eh, it's more trying to appeal to everyone and in the end spreading yourself so thin that it appeals to nobody, and Classroom Crisis tries to appeal to a lot of things, it's pretty atypical if you ask me.

Charlotte is like what? "drama" and "comedy", in the end something like episode 7 was such a huge tonal shift that it's actually enjoyable so it gets a free pass, something like having Nagisa being abused by his parents isn't fun, watching Yuu going on some crazy rampage is.

In the end Classroom Crisis is boring and Charlotte isn't so I'm going to nitpick a lot more with Classroom Crisis, maybe most of my critisims can also be applied to Charlotte but at least it's fun.

Like I said in my previous comment:

If you're going to pander, pander to one thing and pander hard. That usually results in a good show.
How? The show is bland and generic, but it's not more tropey than your average show. It's not particularly pandering either. Your critique here is so vague I don't even know what you are trying to say about the show. Mixing business drama with slice of life comedy isn't such an overreach, most shows probably have some slice of life comedy thrown into them. That it's not executed well is the problem.

Yeah, this is basically what I mean (and said in my previous comment).
I read your comment pretty late since I came up with a bunch of other things I wanted to say about the show, sorry about that :p

If you're going to appeal to a lot of things and then fail at that I'm going to complain about it. If they just tried one thing and made it "decent" the show would've been better I think, now it's just a Jack of all trades, master of none situation. Being more focused on either "a group of kids building rockets and having fun" or business politics and producing the show with that mindset from the beginning could've improved the execution.

Super Late Edit:

Aside from quality, when one of your episodes is a detailed explanation of your science facility, followed by an episode about trying to get a labor union on your side, when there's also a Beach/Steambath episode and an episode revolving around taking over a spaceship you could wonder why this show is called 'Classroom Crisis" instead of "Identity Crisis"

Time rewind,
aliens,
4 girl harem , hot springs outing and a obligatory random boobgrab. All par for the course in a show like this.
