Date: October 8th 2015
Time: From 18:00
Where: Shinjuku, Tokyo
Humax Pavilion Map: https://goo.gl/maps/J3Kx7

We’re having the second Japan Travel GAF meetup, so anybody who’s going to be in Tokyo is welcome to join! Doesn't matter if you're just visiting or live there, just join!

Just as last time, we’re going to the Robot Restaurant, and we’ll also check out the Playland Carnival arcade.

We will meet in front of the Humax Pavilion (It has a big sign that says Humax on it as well) building the Playland Carnival is in, at 18:00 at this statue:

It's on the south-east corner of the building. If you're walking in from Kabukicho:

Then the statue is just straight ahead from there. If you're not walking in from Kabukicho, then it's the side that's closest to the Toho building with the big Godzilla head on top.

At 18:10 or so we'll go inside and check out the arcade.

Then at 19:00 we’ll head back out and wait for a couple of minutes near the same statue and meet up there with anybody who doesn't want to join us for the arcade part of the meetup, but just the Robot Restaurant show.

We’re going to the Robot Restaurant show that starts letting people in at 19:10 and starts at 19:50. You’ll need to get your own tickets from one of these sites. Remember to choose the correct date and time - October 8th 2015 19:10/19:50:

And what some GAFfers thought about the Robot Restaurant:
I just got back from the Robot Restaurant.

I laughed, I cried (tears of laughter). Better than anything on Broadway, 11/10 would wave a glowstick again

You cannot go to Japan and not go to the Robot Restaurant. Please, just book via veltra for the mega discount, don't waste time trying to find out what it is exactly and just go.

Second time was even better as I was fully focused on enjoying the show instead of thinking "WTF is happening I need to film this because otherwise nobody will believe me when I tell my friends about this"

To everyone at the Robot Restaurant meet-up: I had a great time, I wasn't sure what to expect of the actual show but it kind of blew me away. Glad I joined in for the fun.

I went with my girlfriend on my first night here - its noisy and almost nonsensical, but is hilarious and good fun!

Cool. Both for the arcade visit and Robot Restaurant? Just yourself or other people too?

Let me know when you've booked tickets and I'll add you to the list.

Why do you always want to go to the Robot Restaurant when I'm not in Tokyo, Mike? Damn!!

Dammit, wanna go but live out here in Kansai and would risk being late to work that following Monday.

Might have to miss this one but if GAF has any meetups in Kyoto or Osaka, let me know! I can be there! :D

Why are the meetups always at Robot Restaurant?!

Anyway I'll be skipping the Robot Restaurant, seeing as I went there for the first meet up just a few months ago and then went back there again with my friends last month.
Three times in 6 months is just way too much :p

... Particularly on my wallet!

I might be up for the other activities though, depends of how organized I am with my luggages (my trip back home is on the 9th).

Looks just like Kamurucho :)

In one of my first times in Shinjuku, I was was just randomly walking around and then had the following realization:

"Oh, this place looks exactly like the Yakuza games!... I must be in Kabukicho"

That's the place everybody who said they'd join in the travel thread chose this time :p

Damn people listening to the recommendation of the people that went before!

Anyway I'm up for any meet ups!
That and, hopefully, activities before and after the Robot Restaurant (again depending of how well organized I am for my trip).

Random question, My wife is considering taking the piano player job they have posted for this place... Neither one of us have actually been in yet. Might next week when I'm by again. Has anyone actually seen the piano player and do that have to do any kind of extra performance?

The piano player works in the lounge before the show at least. Dunno if the band people take a part in the show itself since everybody is wearing robot costumes:

Hey Mike...is that Playland Carnival Arcade somewhat different to the typical Club Sega or Taito Station?

I see they've for instance Pokken tournaments which I don't remember them being in a typical Arcade. I see they've that K-ON arcade game too (which Club sega also has).

Is there anything else to bring to that arcade apart from a lot of 100 yen coins to play? I'd join for that too (count 2 people).

It's supposed to be the best one in the Kabukicho area near the Robot Restaurant. :p

Nah, just bring a fistful of yen.
