Forza Motorsport 6 Review Thread

Anybody even slightly on the fence should check out the demo.

Obnoxious unskippable narration, tutorials and head-patting aside (its a demo after all), the racing itself sells the game.

Bought ultimate edition after playing the demo, wasn't even going to buy it before!

That sounds like iffy information at best. Yes, it sucks when a game you're looking forward to gets a lower score than you would like, but there's no need to go out of your way to discredit that review.

Banjo's a reviewer and runs in review circles; he's not just making stuff up. The Forza 6 reviewers all played during scheduled multiplayer sessions over the course of a few days. Many of us got to play against each other, especially if we participated in more than one session.

I've been playing FM5 career a lot and every damn time Le Mans comes up it's the bugatti circuit. I usually race D-A class cars, maybe the longer track is reserved for more potent cars... I would appreciate some variety though.

Ya some tracks in these games are just like that and it can SUCK when each new sequel has it the same way.

Nice! So can't wait for this after my relative disappointment with FM5. As much as I'm tempted by the UE, I'm just going to stick with the vanilla version via BBY GCU. I think I'm still going to have a great time. :)

Pretty shitty how one review score pulled the whole metacritic down massively. And from a reviewer who really doesn't seem like he has a clue about what he's on about (especially when comparing his reviews for other racers).

Terrible really but ah well...my review is what counts the most.

It would be amazing if all review scores went away. Then we could talk about the games, rather than the scores they get.

I don't like people going out of their way to criticize Towell personally (attack him, really).

In reality, the text and tone of that review tell you everything you need to know about where he is coming from. He likes a couple franchises in particular, their feel and their mission, and that is that.

My experience with the AI in Forza 5 and Horizon 2 seems drastically different from what he describes in his review. His review of the handling model doesn't line up with my experience with the demo.

I think we can disagree with his take or preferences without attacking him personally.

I agree with your points. Most will disregard such an outlier anyway so no need to give the guy a hard time. Given the discrepancy in the score compared to the range of other reviews and the factually incorrect nature of numerous comments within the review, I review his review and give him a 4/10. I give him props for giving his bottom line in a clear an concise fashion and scoring appropriately, but the details in the review and his explanation for the score are very lacking in my opinion.

Interesting, good review's overall. It looks like another solid Forza game, but it seems like it's not doing anything new and isn't quite perfect.

After reading the reviews that didn't hand out a 9 or 10, it seems like 8/10 is about right and fair considering it's few faults, while still delivering a good racing game.

Im excited.

Just wish the graphics were Drive club level.

I know it s a different game, but Driveclub was on another level graphically, but the racing mechanics were horrific.

It's a different game, with a different framerate, on a different (more powerful) console. C'mon... In no way was this comment worth making here.

GameZone Review - No score but positive review

If you were among those that felt that Forza 5 was a small step in the wrong direction for the series, Forza 6 seems like the perfect apology letter to its dedicated fans. Everything about it, from presentation to gameplay is refined to maximize fun, and eliminate grind. If you own an Xbox One, considering yourself lucky to be able to play, what is easily the best racing simulator on the market.

I read the review. It was quite reasonable. What was factually wrong? It seems that he likes a lot about the game except the progression structure. I know I've felt like that in Forza games.

The only thing I can say is that Drivatars, one of his biggest complaints, may need some more experience to be good, but that doesn't discount his experience with it today.

The instance where he dismisses the physics and handling as being inaccurate I found to be not true. The particular instance where he cited it wouldn't happen in real life I have actually seen happen, at least based on the way he describes it.

He refers to 90%, or somewhere close to that, of the races being boring In regards to the types of cars/races. There are various game modes where he can race whatever he wants. If he spent 90% of the time being bored that is his own fault. He could have spent 100% of his time on the 10% he enjoyed.

Lastly, the AI comments I also find to be untrue in my experience with the demo.

No offense or anything, but do you always spam other site's twitter handles with your vids? I've noticed that lately.

I see 2 video link responses in the last week. Do you mean those 2? No spam in the outward twitter account I can find anywhere.
Or maybe you mean sending the link to the devs/pubs. That's actually normal and usually requested by their PR contact. And ya I have been doing that more as I actually HAVEN'T been good about communicating back to pubs and got some complaints. Its funny. Many don't tell you if they even want a review link. Then complain when you do or don't send them.

I think in all honesty he just didn't like it in many ways and for reasons unknown didn't communicate it very well at all.

If by "massively" you mean "1 point at best", yeah it pulled the whole metacritic down massively.

Garnett Lee is happy about Forza.

@GarnettLee: Also, Forza 6 review embargo is up. I've had the good fortune to be playing it the past couple of days. Bar none, best driving game ever

I enjoyed the demo and pleased to see it getting really good scores. I think the game is going to be excellent.

But man.. "Bar none, best driving game ever" is one hell of a call. Simultaneously hyped and cautious.

That's at least the second, maybe the 3rd, review that calls it the best racing sim/game to date.

We should latch onto those instead of the GamesRadar one.

Forza 6 "Best racer ever in its genre!" Guys.

My controller shipped. I want the console, but can't justify buying another one.

I don't even really need another controller, but it's so nice and has the rubber on the back which I like. But I want the Halo Locke controller, too.

Wallet am cry.

You can buy the controller on its own?

Well, like any game there will always be room for improvement. But to say it is not doing something new is not quite accurate.

The jump in things from Forza 5 is pretty huge. 26 tracks vs. the 14 or so that F5 came with. 24 cars on track versus the 16 in F5. The menu, car selection and upgrade screens all have changed and upgraded. They added rain and night time which is entirely new for the mainline series.

With all that said, as a person that has been there day 1 for every Forza game, including Horizon series, I can easily list things that I think they need to do better on. I will list a few here:

1. More variety in the time of day settings for tracks. While night and rain are on select tracks, for those that are not part of these, they should have at least 1 alternate TOD setting to choose from.
2. Pit Stops should be made to be useful and not pathetic like they have been since Forza 2 (Forza 1 still has the best pit stop set up in the series).
3. Time Compression/Wear & Tear/Fuel compression. So if you are running a 20 lap oval race, you can have fuel and tires wear down at an accelerated time so pit strategy can be a factor, which is a major part of "ALL" major motorsports.

I know they will probably never have dynamic TOD since they target 1080p/60fps (Rock Solid), so giving non night/rain tracks at least one additional TOD setting would be very welcomed.

Is there some place to get a thustmaster tx pretty cheap (including second hand, all the ones I fins seem to be around 250ish which does not seem that cheap for something which now costs 300)? All these review really make me want the game but I feel I could not play 2 forzas in a row without a wheel.

Chie is the worst waifu
Jeff didn't like Forza 5 and especially the f2p mechanic it had.

From a review I've read, they seem to be gone.

Thank god.

Not that I've ever needed to use them. (Though I did spend 5 bucks to get 6 tokens for the two most expensive cars in Forza 4 for the achievement lol)

This is to piggy back what Hawk said:

To me from the demo having 24 racers made me giddy! I don't feel like that has been emphasized enough in forums, reviews, etc.. That alone is a real upgrade worth purchasing. Not sure if other racers have that or not, but Forza 6 was first time I've been able to play with that high of a car count.

Damn, reviews coming in pretty nice across the board for the most part. Bet Turn10 feeling like Michael Jackson Thriller...
