Well if Heroes gets released I donno why this game won't.
That being said the main "pull" of this game is the nostalgia to the Erdrick Triology (if you know what Alefgard is, really) so I don't know how this game appeals to Western audience.

This looks so good and very charming I can't wait for this game. Glad it's so close for the JP version definitely gonna import this one.

This is pretty much the game I didn't know I wanted. It's pretty much Terraria in 3D in the original Dragon Quest world.

If there isn't any confirmation of an English release by that date, I may very well import as it's close to my birthday.

I've never played Dragon Quest and don't have any nostalgia for the Eric trilogy. This game appeals to me though because it looks like a damn good game on its own.

Does anyone know if the trailer was CGI? The graphics were great....too great.

I hope it gets an english version/release. Looks better than Dragon Quest Heroes at this point. Speaking which is there any new game play videos of that? It was absent from the conference.

There is tons of gameplay out there don the JPN version. Game looks phenomenal

Definitely like the idea of building my own old school DQ town and building within the first games world. Very intrigued by this

It's really looking like in 2016 the PS4 is positioning itself in a very strong position globally.

Not expect huge sales until FFXV and KH3 hit but if games like this can build on a slowly growing userbase It can only help.

Also the games announced during their pre TGS conference appeal to people around the world. Really hoping most games hit their target date in 2016. It's shaping up to be a pretty strong year for the PS4

I'll pick this up in a heartbeat. It looks like exactly what I imagined when it was announced, and I suspect my RPG and Minecraft-loving 11 year old will be all about this as well.

If you have Niconico account and monthly subscriber then you can see quite long gameplay from 3:14:00 (I don't think there are too many of those premium users here though). If you can't watch it then you must wait till SE releases it officially.
The gameplay lasts for like 23 minutes.

I wonder if they will budget price it to compete directly with Minecraft. In any case it's looking really good I might have to get the JP version if an English release is too far off. The language should be pretty easy since it's aimed at the primary school demographic

This is easily one of my most anticipated games. Mixing Minecraft and DQ seems like a match made in heaven.

Edit: If you can create your own item shops so others can buy your stuff, that would be rad.

Anyone who can understand japanese know if they talked about how townsfolk move to houses you make?

Edit: I saw the girl sleep on the new house, but did it involve getting a quest from her to make her a house? Or did it get automatically assigned to her or something.

Damn it. Niconico keeps on trying to get me to give them money. The video disappeared on me and was replaced with a massive premium ad. Screw this.

If you build a "house" townsfolk will start using them according to the buildings' functions.

Ahhh I see, so it's all automatic. I wonder if the townsfolk is assigned to a building or they just go to whatever's near them when it's night time (like they can switch buildings with others). Thanks!

Do we know if the actual build is the same for everyone but can be changed to people's taste, or is it exactly like Minecraft in regards to seeds?

I'm not sure this'll really be all that marketable in the west though.

Minecraft as far as I know isn't nearly as popular in Japan as it is everywhere else, thus allowing SEnix to market it as if it was a "WHOLE NEW GENRE!!!!1!!1" with the gaming proletariat there likely not being in the know to call them out on a clear as day Minecraft clone with RPG elements - Just like the "There is no other game like Spelunker!" comment made during the new Spelunker's livestream announcement, in face of the fact that Spelunky has been out for years and is infinitely more popular than Spelunker has ever been in its 3 decades or so of jankiness.

I mean, how are they going to be able to market this in the west? They'll be called out big time if they pretend it's a whole new genre, and the market has shown that there's only room for ONE Minecraft, with clones on XBLIG and AppStore failing left and right - With the sole copycats to have any measure of success being ones that in truth aren't Minecraft clones, but FPS games that take advantage of the concept of a destructible and buildable voxel world like Minecraft's, as seen with Ace of Spades and Blockstorm, with Murder Miners tailing them.

So yeah, would there be any potential for this in the west? It'd be releasing into a genre which might as well be the Highlander of gaming, with the added stigma of the dreaded non-DBZ/non-Ghibli anime artstyle which has often been considered in the past decade to be a factor in poor western sales on its own.

So I say, pack it up on expecting this unless Heroes does well, because as far as I know they've not even announced XI for localization yet, which I'd say is sort of a sign since even Star Ocean 5 is confirmed for localization, and was within a negligible amount of time from its Japanese announcement.

Edit:

And hell, I'm even cynical on Heroes anyway. If you ask me, its localization, next to the recent Warriors-craze of sorts, as far as I can tell is just a knee-jerk response to how well Hyrule Warriors did, rather than an earnest attempt to truly bring the series back in the west. tl;dr since that sentence went through multiple awful iterations: It's being localized because it's a Warriors game.
