On the other side, will this be the first Q1 the Wii U has had with actual games coming out?

2014 had Tropical Freeze but that bombed in Japan...

So PS4 and Wii U just lost their big holiday titles. Lovely. Though I doubt Star Fox would've done anything in Japan, so what's the difference for Wii U?

WiiU hasn't lost #FE, what are you talking about?

Yup.

Final question. Can I rewind a live broadcast to an earlier point do you know?

Don't think so, but I don't use much with streaming, so I can't say I am an expert on the service.

I don't think Star Fox was the main holiday title anyhow in Japan. If anything I think that goes to Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival whether folks like it or not. That or Just Dance: Youkai Watch or something.

That's barely coming out for the holidays. Though yeah, it still would've done more than Star Fox now that I think about it.

And of course AC was always going to be the real money maker, but that's harder to determine its potential since it's F2P technically (or at least download).

Star Fox 0 and ...?

This year we had Kirby, Star Fox is going to sell worse than Kirby and Donkey Kong, if anything it'll its worst Q1 in terms of games since 2013.

Pokken is Q1 right? That has potential to do better than all 3 of those games possibly.

And maybe Mario and Sonic. But that series is a shell of itself.

Gamefaqs has Lego Avengers for January but uh...heh

Pokken is Spring, you know what other games were labeled as Spring? Splatoon and Mario Kart, I'm rather expecting it to release at that weird late May date that Nintendo seems to like, if not Golden Week at the earliest.

I also really wouldn't expect Mario & Sonic to release prior to the Olympic Games, not that I'm hoping for that game to chart at all anyway.

Oh, it was "Spring"? Nvm then. I'm guessing it'll be the May 30th game that year.

Guess everything is the same then.

All of the other games launched quite a while before the Olympics Games.

well, that game's success will be entirely determined by the west (and well, it looks like it's doing fine if PSN activity is any indication)

Oh, no doubt. I am just "oofing" at the note from Hiska's post and, then, coupling it with anecdotal noticing of how my friends at uni aren't bothering with TTK even though two of them were hardcore into Destiny on launch.

That's barely coming out for the holidays. Though yeah, it still would've done more than Star Fox now that I think about it.

Well, I wouldn't expect more than 100k LTD for that game. You know, it's on Wii U.

Ye of little faith! That said, I am clearly being tongue-in-cheek. Its an unproven quantity but a jRPG all the same. It has something to its origins in terms of potential fan appeal from names sakes of its convoluted roots but the system isn't exactly laden with jRPG fans, so unless the game proves to be eyeball melting amazing and be the Splatoon of JRPGs for Nintendo, it's not likely to do much more than 100-150k LTD.

Did Pikmin even get that high?

edit:
went back and looked at its launch weeks.
but saw Luigi Mansion and got distracted. I mean, how did that game do so well? Sheesh

Less than Xenobalde X, for sure. Splatooning a JRPG on Wii U is almost, you know, impossible.

WiiU does not have a JRPG fanbase.
XCX sold 106k. I doubt it will get above the original XC.
Although, perhaps the inclusion of FE might sway some fans. 100-150k is what I'm predicting for now.

Yup.

Final question. Can I rewind a live broadcast to an earlier point do you know?

You can't do it live, but there's the timeshift (available 30mn after the stream has ended). There you can rewatch the whole thing whenever you want within the availability period.

I don't think Star Fox was the main holiday title anyhow in Japan. If anything I think that goes to Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival whether folks like it or not. That or Just Dance: Youkai Watch or something.

Yup, Star Fox didn't even have a date yet (was most likely going to be a December game). So the delay really didn't change much, I think.

Monster Hunter Explore is continuing its laborious climb on its Android limited release:

Not shown on the left half is it starting at 500 and going up over a few days.

http://expo.nikkeibp.co.jp/tgs/2015/pdf/release_20150917_en.pdf

PS4 is the console/handheld with most showcased titles this year tgs (103). Overall mobile was the most popular platfrom followed by PC.

There was a 3 to 1 ratio of PS4 to 3DS games at TGS?

Was that notably inflated by indie titles, or is that actually the state of the regular industry?

3DS went down YOY
Vita almost doubled
PS4 had the biggest increase so far. Even Wii U had more support this year.

Wonder how this chart will look with the inclusion of NX next year.
The fine print probably gives away why most systems ballooned; indie games are categorized under each platform now while last year they were all in other.

There is this list but i'm not sure if it's complete

http://expo.nikkeibp.co.jp/tgs/2015/pdf/release_20150917_title.pdf

But in general it's not weird for Nintendo to have such a weak presence in TGS. Based in the past 4 years or so I noticed that Sony platforms always had stronger presence than Nintendo platforms.

Maybe they used to have a strong presence in the DS/WII era but I don't have data for that period.

I am confused :S

Why isn't there any major change in the iOS/Android numbers? If they did this, wouldn't the numbers change for them? I mean there are a whole lot more indies on mobile/smartphone than dedicated consoles/platforms.

PS4 surely got a lot of third-party announcements, as well as PSV; 3DS presence during TGS is never that big, though - eventually it's going to lead the software chart with big hitters and unexpected hits (e.g. Level-5 is not showing any game and it's one of the biggest publishers in Japan right now).

I'm guessing they're not at TGS.

Like, if Sony has an indie booth with 60 indie PS4 games, that'd explain a lot, whereas Apple and Google are not going to buy space for indie games on their platforms.

This makes sense.

There were 81 indie games in 2014 so I wonder what the figure might be in 2015. The total amount of games actually decreased YOY so it will likely apply to indies too.

Reading the list, about a quarter of the titles are Indie/DLC, and then another good chunk are titles already released (or that we've seen for years).

3DS went down YOY
Vita almost doubled

3DS doesn't matter in any of these events because its games are announced within months rather than WiiU/PS4 titles that are going to be and have been at TGS for years.
