It felt wierd only being able to buy this on a PC. I'd buy this.. AVGN is in the canon of core videogame stuff ;) is the game any good?

nice, will finally get to play it. Although does mean i need to pick up an external HDD. Any recomendations. (doesn't have to be too big in size)

Never got very far in it, but I thought it was pretty alright for what it was.
You could do a lot worse in buying massocore platformers

Took long enough. What was the hold up?

He already did

He already reviewed it with some other AVGN fan games. Edit: BatDan was quicker.

I didn't even realize the original Steam release was back in Sept. 2013. Wonder why it took so longer. Heck, wonder how long it'll take for the 3DS to be released.

I MISSED IT. WHAT ELSE DID I MISS?

I MISSED SO MUCH

Nope. It was purposely full of cheap deaths and annoying design elements. In trying to create the ultimate nerd-rage game, they forgot to create a fun one. You may get a chuckle at some of the inside jokes, but it's not worth the price of admission in my opinion.

I thought it was OK, most of that stuff is just referencing the annoying cheap elements from games he reviewed, but actually aren't that hard or unfair themselves.

terrible games are kind of the AVGN shtick. so I would expect the kinds of things he complains about in his videos (cheap deaths etc.) go watch a let's play if you're curious about it.

oops, I should state clearly that this has NSFW language

Would something like Viewtiful Joe fall into that category? I'm not very good at games :p But I found the difficulty to be rock hard on the Gamecube version, even on EASY mode :p To this day I cant get past the 5th level

I havent seen the movie yet either, but ordered it :D I guess his schtick is exaggerate badness since we never really see a happy AVGN :D I've been watching quite a lot lately though but maybe I should take a break for a bit

FINALLY completed the first level (the Castlevania one). Those death blocks are ASS. Bloody hell, the difficulty is rock hard, even on EASY mode. FFS :x
There are some funny jokes though :D

Since this thread popped back up again, freakzonegames released an improved version of manos the hands of fate on steam the other day, same style of platforming but a lot easier and not hair pulling like AVGNA :p

I find the game pretty fun, though really hard and made more so by loose controls. I was kind of surprised given that the nerd knows the importance of tight controls to platformers.

I think I'll brush up on my AVGN knowledge before diving into the actual game. Any specific recommendations?

I'll second just start from the beginning and watch them all. The only thing is as I recall initially the episodes dealt with one NES game whereas episodes later began to deal with other systems, multiple games, games with the same problem and so forth.

I remember watching the AVGN review of the game and just thinking..."why would you make this video? You're making this game look like a pile of shit and hurting sales for the guys who made it. You're not helping them".
Really put me off it.

I didn't feel that way at all. I really doubt it hurt the game.

If anything, it made me have to play it, so guess it works different for differet people.
