Media Create Sales: Week 37, 2015 (Sep 07 - Sep 13)

Hiska's spoilered Vita comment on MHX preorders blew up esuteru. 2300+ reply thread, lol.

Fanboys.

This one?

Capcom Meeting

According to GamesMaya pre-orders for MH Cross are lower than MH4 Ultimate. But since the release of MH Diary they increased, so it was a nice timing for the game release. The Capcom's member wanted to know why consumers are not pre-ordering as much as before.
Maya answered:
- They're still playing MH4U and they don't feel/need to jump to a new entry.
- They think it will be better to wait a possible next year's MH Cross Ultimate entry with full content.
- They don't like the new gameplay changes.
- Some want the game on Vita lol

Capcom will work to satisfy users and will promote the game properly to attract more users.

What are people saying there?

Yo-Kai Watch debuts first in North America in CANADA on October 3rd!

On Teletoon! :)

Get Hype Canadians!

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2015-09-21/yo-kai-watch-listed-on-canada-teletoon-for-october-3/.93227

I'd love to know where on earth they found that "October 3rd" date, because there certainly isn't anything on the page they link (and looking for Yo-kai Watch on the website only leads to the Disney XD debut). Pretty sure it's an error to be honest. Besides, the date is rather suspicious... Friday at 2PM for the debut of a kid's anime? And no announcement prior... I'm not buying ti, quite frankly.

Buuuuuut that's slightly off-topic.

Talking about Yo-kai Watch, it's "funny" how different the approach is compared to Japan, where the game came out half a year before the anime started. Guess they quickly realised how important the anime was. Really hope we'll get some hard data for both the anime and the game in the west, so we can make a comparison with the JP launch, since the approach is not the same.

Moe on-topic: Nintendo finally has an official LINE account.

By the way, what can you do with an official account on LINE (never used, so I wouldn't know). Do you get news (like you would on Facebook), or is it only for random chat? Famitsu tried to get Toad to tell them about the NX platform, and the answer is... well, pretty funny and totally unrelated.

they might be able to push info to those that add them as friend, but it's more of chatting app like whatsapp etc. but since they're on LINE now.... nintendo-related LINE stickers/stamps when?

What did Toad exactly say when asked about NX (can't read Japanese, unfortunately)

the automated ones (well it's a bot anyway) when you added Toad? that's an image, not sticker

roughly "B-Dash! It feels nice~"

...Not even a "I don't know what you're talking about". Just shifting the matter of discussion immediatly. Clever Toad, clever. /j

I don't even get what he said :lol

In more interesting (and actual) news, several hours ago Cube Creator 3D entered the 3DS Overall All-Time chart. It's sitting at 20th, now.

It's funny how this Minecraft rip-off is slowly getting close to Minecraft digital sales on PSV.

Why didn't they put Minecraft on 3DS? Have we got an official answer.

Is Cube Creator 3D any good?

For 3DS, pretty sure it's because it's not powerful enough. Cube Creator is made differently.
For WiiU, they never gave a reason apart from "we want to focus on other platforms" before being bought by microsoft and saying recently they could do it.

usually companies use Line to communicate promotional sales or something similar, for example Uniqlo every friday at 10:00 send a couple of messages with weekly discounts or new products on sale; I have a sushi restaurant chain which gives you promotional codes

so probably they will use for news, announcement (for example : from today [game name] is available in all shops) or giving stickers, a present which is very popular among the Line community

Yeah, it will be something similar to the Nintendo of America account on Snapchat.

People assume that but the COO of Mojang said he'd never heard any specific reason why Minecraft isn't on 3DS or Wii U. It just hasn't happened yet.

How much does Cube Creator cost?

I dunno about Japan, but in EU: €7.50/£5.25

I see, that's basically what I was expecting. Totally fits in their 'leveraging mobile platforms to promote Nintendo games and platforms' strategy, and getting more visiblity there. The Pokémon Company also has an account (I remember people freaking out because a line in their profile description made it sound like they were going to announce something, despite being there for months).

Thanks for the answer!

The truth is that the Capcom's man laughed when Maya said the Vita comment.

And he's still probably laughing

Can´t say I´m surprised, why did she even thought this was something relevant to point out? At this point we are looking at the end of the gen and sales that are almost hitting the bottom of the barrel.

Thanks. That should help on getting sales indeed. Might be worth doing a retail version, but i guess it would probably be priced at twice as much in that case. Still a low amount of money though. Minecraft Vita is 2057 yen in comparison (download version).

They were asked for reasons and she gave a collective answer. I'm sure they appreciate to get as much info as possible.

Still probably a year or two until we see near bottom of the barrel numbers for 3DS and Vita, in my opinion (which would be about 1k-2k unit sales a week).

How much was the Wii U doing per week at that point?

I'll throw out a random number of expecting PS4 to do 12k better weekly than Wii U in the launch alignment.

so 131k/12k ~ 11 weeks. There ya go. my guestimate.

it was the beginning of summer 2014 (week 26)

always below 10k until week 32 (which was Obon week)

okay, looking at it, it seems be around 9K on average from week 26-32.

My predictionw was PS4 doing 12k more than that on average, which would be 21k....

yeah, I'll revise that. A few more weeks than I said.

I wrote the blog post that ANN is citing there. Zap2it still lists Yo-Kai Watch on October 3rd (which is a Saturday btw) at 2PM:
super-anime-lineup.png

It might be reading your IP and sending you to US listings.

No prior announcement isn't at all unusual for Canadian kids anime broadcasts. We're too small of a market for the US distributors to make note of, and since the shows aren't produced internally or by a partner they're not something Corus (the company that owns most of the kids broadcasters in Canada) likes to boast about. Worst recent case of this was when Digimon Fusion ran on YTV randomly on a Friday at like 7:30 AM. That was a slot they'd only use for repeats, so the run went unnoticed until someone told me about it on Twitter three weeks in.

Wow, ninja'ed.

Thanks a lot for the answer! I thought about IP-locking too, but thought it'd be dumb for a mere TV guide... guess it really is that dumb : /

I hope the anime will do well outside Japan, but if they stealth-announce it like that, we're not going anywhere. Granted, doesn't look as random as Digimon Fusion, but 2PM on a week day isn't the most ideal timeslot.

Can someone please post the LTD totals for all games in the Girls Mode/Style Savvy/Style Boutique series?

Reason I ask is about this tidbit from the Girls Mode 3/New Style Boutique 2 PR from Europe:

This third instalment in the fashion simulation series that has sold over 1.5 million units across Europe to date* lets budding fashionistas run their very own chic boutique in the bustling Beaumonde City, home to hundreds of colourful personalities

* Based on Nintendo’s internal sales figures.

That seems a lot, for only two games (though I guess the majority comes from the DS entry), so a comparison with Japan would be nice.

Yesterday at COMG!

offtopic, but I think it's interesting how many english words are used in Japanese advertising in their stores.

is there proper japanese writing for the word "Nintendo" or "Playstation" or are brand names always westernized?

From what I've seen, most of the times it's written in katakana (like ニンテンドー3DS for example). Though to be fair, I don't think there's any "rules", and every store doing as they please.

How long until PS4 catches Wii U ?

max difference : week 57 (+348k for Wii U)
min difference : week 82 (+131k for Wii U)

With those Famitsu numbers going to take still few months probably. With Media Create numbers it's going to happen during the price cut week so in few weeks. Difference is only 27k there. Still weird how different totals Famitsu and MC have for PS4.

After the post-launch performance of the WiiU in Japan, it´s still interesting to see such launch aligned charts with PS4 still behind after almost two years, considering a supposed quick und swift surpass of life time sales. We´ll be well into 2016 with WiiU still leading in ltd sales and this basically with just the strength of 1st party software. This really puts into perspective the whole situation.

To be fair while PS4 has always had great third party support on paper it still hasn't translated to actual games that often. I mean whole last year was fucking terrible release wise for PS4. While this year has been better (And average weekly sales for PS4 have been a lot better) there still has been only like two bigger Japanese games released. DQ:H and MGSV (both were also cross gen..).

Is 25 September the new Media Create week, right?

Yup, Friday this week (MC, Famitsu, Dengeki).

For those who missed it (since now is the usual time for the weekly update):

Due to the Silver week, sales numbers will be delayed this week.

Media Create: Friday (September 25th). No time given, so not sure if it's at the usual time (10PM JST) or earlier. We'll most likely get Top 30 right of the gate, but no Top 50.

次回の「ゲームソフト週間販売ランキング+」の掲載は2015年9月25日を予定しています。

Famitsu: Friday (September 25th). Again, no time given, so it can be at any time on Friday.

次回更新は、9月25日となります。
