Why would anyone want to play that on PC. The original version is better in pretty much every way.

Yeah, it's probably a FC1 port.

I'm still bummed we never got a follow up to Blood Dragon. That totally deserved one.

A port of Far Cry Instincts would make more sense than Far Cry Classic.

Well, nothing about this makes any sense, but ya know.

I would play instincts... classic?

Probably not.

I remember being surprised how great the xbox version looked. Lacking in a number of ways compared to the pc original... but like Riddick and doom 3 on xbox... a real looker.

Comprehensive list of the changes between OG Far Cry and the Classic port here: http://farcry.wikia.com/wiki/Far_Cry_Classic

- Almost all in-game physics have been removed; the vast majority of physics objects are now completely static.

- Walls have been added to certain areas to block lines of sight or slow down progress in order to give the game time to load. For example, a large fence with a locked gate in it has been added to the room where Jack first contacts Doyle.

- The HUD is a modified version of the Far Cry 3 HUD, with a ~30m radar instead of ~250m, meaning tagged enemies are almost always off the edge of the radar. The visibility indicator is also removed, replaced with the Far Cry 3 alertness indicator.

- Players are now able to aim down the sights on any firearm that does not feature an optical scope; in the original PC version aiming a firearm with iron sights simply zoomed the player's view. This drastically decreases the effective range of the M4, since it no longer has any zoom at all.

And more

I hopped on to Far Cry's Steam Community hub to see if there were any reports of Windows 10 troubles and found this announcement. A port of Classic makes sense if Ubi intends on yanking the original once the online component has been shut down.

for sure. getting competent ports of doom 3, far cry (even if it was a fundamentally different game) and half life 2 felt like having a pretty decent pc in my xbox (which to be fair the console totally was)

Also, first post should have been "How do you like them apples?!"

Riddick and doom 3 especially. The doom 3 port has native coop which, in spite of having truncated level design, is just cool.

Why have I never heard of this port until just now?
I'm sure a lot of people don't know about Call of Duty Classic, either. There were some weird console ports of previously PC-only games last-gen that were just kind of stealth released onto PSN/XBL without a lot of attention.
