If Atlus really wants to troll, they should take a page out of the Digimon Adventure Tri handbook.
With the emphasis on tweets, I can't help but think of #FE. The image doesn't fit the style of that game, though.

Doubt the announcement is something that good, and at the same time we know a "Final Mix" kind of deal wouldn't make sense right now... I wonder what this could be. An iOS/Android spin off/side story maybe?

Plus, Atlus are no strangers to Twitter campaigns.

NX could totally be the portable. We know almost for sure that both are under development, and in the launch scheme, it would make more sense to replace the 3DS being older. Btw, I'd say LOL at people saying NX for the simple reason that nobody is allowed to announce games for the device, being it still "to be officially presented" by Nintendo. Even S-E with DQXI (an announcement way more important than a SMT IV expension), had to back pedaled the "hint".
I don't think it's anything to do with NX but they could announce it without a platform(like EOV). It's not totally uncommon to get game announcements before the platform is unveiled, especially if the platform is releasing next year.

Man, the thirst for a non-3DS SMT is real. Like, I could see if it was an unlocalized XBO exclusive or something, but SMTIV is only one of like 20 good-great JRPGs that you can play right now on 3DS. If you like the genre, just go buy one. Today. Quit punishing yourself!

Reminds me of what they did with the latest Persona 5 stream, where they did a final countdown where we thought they'd be starting a few minutes early, and then just popped this standby screen at the end of it:
The thing I keep thinking is just how much whatever text is behind "concrete" would clash so hard with the SMT IV font, if it were to be combined with it.

But yeah, Atlus has been doing a ton of Twitter campaigns for all sorts of events lately.
It was more the fact that it was, well, modern and trendy, and the implied theme of tweets leading to apocalypse (which I don't think will be a plot of whatever this is, but the association is there)

Ha, I'm constantly refreshing this, so I saw the instant the page had 16k+ tweets made, as though this was over with the top displaying 0. The refresh immediately after it had the current 8,723 tweets. Really wonder if they're doing this manually...

I would think SMT4 Final. Just leave it at that, judging by the URL.
Maybe a continuation (although I'm unsure where they would go) of the story from SMTIV?

They'd need to remake all demons in 3d (or make back sprites for them all). Either option seems really unlikely, unless it's a standalone game, rather than a SMTIV expansion.
Technically they already did for most for Persona 5.
Also if it's still on handhelds, they can still use the PS2 models.

That's what I meant though. There are many SMT4 demons that never appeared in games with 3d models. They can do it if it's a standalone release, like a SMT4 sequel, but for an "upgraded" SMT4 it'd be odd if many demons were cut due to lacking 3d models.
