No info on final shipping decorative objects but they did say something about grabbing assets from the Campaign. Not sure what they meant by that.

Really hope so. Will help sell Covenant designs and they've been absent for two games now.

Also, i don't think minus links work anymore.

I also love the implication of the ability to share pre made object groups... Download a cool base someone made and drop it into your own map? That's the best.

was that confirmed? i must have missed it. but yeah, that'd be amazing.

So, those "wires" you talked about - are those exactly what we think they are? Just, like, little mobile "strings" with tons of points of articulation?
Remember the Pipes from Erosion. Like that, only with wires, similar to suspension bridge wires . Also, they have Pipes!


That looks like MCC UI.

On closer inspection, I'm pretty sure that's Halo 2 :(

We had retail boxes so we could reference maps from previous titles and access our file shares to view our own maps. I mostly used it to play Jenga

2. weld fusion coils and landmines to other ends of the wires
3. set runtime min-maxes to the same value at instant respawn
4. set all object physics to normal
5. weld mancannons on both "poles" of the soccerball to cause it to constantly remain in motion
6. set scripting forcing wires to move downward, preventing wiry medusa boom death machine from flying off into the sun
7. script light volumes onto every single fusion coil so properties change when the object is created and destroyed
8. ??????

Speaking of Invisible Barriers...

There are many very large pieces of most structural items like Floor pieces, the largest of which is around the size of the Halo 4 Grid (there is no Grid in halo 5 that i saw).

Back in the early days of Halo 4 i built a Grifball Court for Matchmaking called Hangar 101.



The original version of the map featured a unique "force field" utilizing sideways Gravity Volumes and bouncy One-Way Barrier floor outside the court to keep players and the ball within bounds. When the map went live in the playlist the force field had been removed and replaced with invisible wall of 5x5 Flats by someone at 343i. (It's in my Halo 4 File Share, go check it out GT=runNOKYARDrun.)

News of this miracle wall spread throughout the Forge community and became a staple in many Halo 5 wish lists. Well, the 343i Forge team were indeed listening to our feedback because there are now Invisible Barriers in the inventory, sized from a very small 2x2 (i believe) all the way up to around half the Grid size. These will contain players, vehicles, and objectives but will allow Grenades to pass through

I will use the above Hangar 101 map to illustrate how much larger items are by comparing the pieces required to build the basic structure of the Halo 4 version, to a theoretical Halo 5 version of the same court.

Halo 4:
Ramp Circular Small 36
Floor 20
Endzone Walls 16
Ceiling 12
UNSC Emblem (assuming 2 sides) 26
Invisiwall 5x5 Flats 17

Total pieces = 127

Halo 5
Cylinder 12
Floor 2
Endzone Walls 4
Ceiling 3
UNSC Emblem 2
Invisiwall 4 Invisible Barriers
Total pieces = 27

That's 100 fewer pieces to build the same basic court.

Not sure if this is something you can share or not, but any word on the way the gravity hammer behaves in Halo 5? I felt it lost a lot of its gravity bending charm, especially with Griffball, in the later games.
 
Wow, just got done watching the video and reading the Halo Waypoint article. Sounds fantastic, sucks that it is coming in December though. I have never been a Forger

, but this may get me into it.

Wow everything looks so good. Really glad 343 reached out to the forge community to make this the most robust forge ever. Really hoping they have a good file share/browser system to launch alongside it.

I wish there was some more color and different lighting. I hate the golden haze. That all said, I can't wait to see what the community can achieve. I do think it should've been there at launch, but I'd rather have something that works and is great, than something that is half-baked.

How will they integrate it? I wonder if they'll introduce new methods of file sharing as well. Since the game is 60fps locked for all modes, I wonder how strict they'll be with map performance before putting any community creations out.
 
Man-Cannons and Grav Lifts launch distances and heights can be tuned in their properties and show the path where the players will go when used. Teleporters output directions can now be changed it displays which way players come out facing.

Awesome that forgers will be able to get into the minutiae of previously take-what-you're-given objects like these. Action Sack will be interesting with the new scripting options.

I'd also love to see them add AI spawning and pelican/falcon.

Its a great thing. Forgers used to have to use extra objects like shield doors and additional gravlifts to launch people exactly were they needed to go. What used to take 4-5 objects is now in one with the options to change it.

Looks really impressive, but as others have said, file sharing and keeping these maps in community playlists is what will make or break the feature. Halo 3 did it perfectly.

1600 objects, up from a couple of hundred? Yeah, it's not really fair to compare this forge to previous ones which came in at launch. This thing sounds like a different beast altogether.

Like Frankie posted a few months ago, i too have seen a Hammer, but can't comment beyond that. Sorry.

Each Canvas features 3 different versions. Alpine has (i forget the actual names) one set at noon, at sunset, and an overcast variant. The sunset map has much improved from the Beta version.

There will be more upcoming features but i have no specifics.

The forgers got to play with/against the pros on their maps, and on the Breakout maps the Pros made. Also, the Forge team kicked the dev team's asses (not the pros) on the first night's test.

It's something we talked about extensively during our visit but we have no information to share.
 
I'm amazed that a Win 10 Forge App was not announced. It seems like such a no brainer. I still think it's coming after Forge launch at some point.
