Are you sure it's free?

It says "offered". Which could be interpreted that you need to hit 100% pre-order in order to be graciously given the privilege to pre-order Symphonia.

Yeah, the Steam page says you get a free copy.

God dammit now I'm so conflicted. I don't want to encourage 30fps. But a Tales game on PC? I want to encourage that. And Tales of Symphonia only sweetens the deal.

No it couldn't, unless you wanted to stir some internet drama

Its a good deal, and I'm not broken up over Zesteria's frame rate, but I need to wait and see if Symphonia can be pushed to 60fps. Otherwise I've got no intensive to play that over my PS3 copy.

I'm still more likely to play it on the gamecube.

So we get all the preorder crap automatically right? We don't have to sign up for anything else? I've seen some VIP thing mentioned before but I don't know if it's something you need to join to get the preorder bonuses, if it's just for the console versions, or what.

Symphonia is confirmed to be 30 isn't it? Or was there any hint that they might possible fix that?

I'm pretty sure it was at 63 during the beginning of the week, I guess people figured they'd pre order closer to release.

30fps is a bummer, but this is a chance to show that the PC community care about the Tales franchise and we want them on Steam. I pre-ordered it for that reason alone and at this point Symphonia would just be a nice bonus.

Hopefully it reaches. I haven't preordered, I'll be waiting after release (I won't be able to play it around launch anyway...), but that's a good preorder bonus.

Was it ever confirmed though? Or are people still going on the fact that a 30FPS stream showed 30FPS footage of the game?

Fuck it, even though I just bought a 144hz GSync monitor and want to flex it, I guess I'll take the plunge on this if the Tier-3 on this is about to be hit.

I'm really surprised that it made so much progress so fast. When it was at 45% with a couple of weeks to go I really didn't think it would make it. I'm hoping I'll be able to preorder it later this week.

Tales of Berseria is confirmed to be 60FPS if that means anything to anyone.

They also locked this game to 30FPS because there are probably some wonky things that happen if you change it to 60FPS. I bet there is something you can change with notepad to make the game run at 60. The game might not run at twice the speed and just have similar issues to what Dark Souls I had on STEAM. Just a few faulty animations here and there.

It jumped quite a bit the last few days. I remembered when there was 3 weeks to go and it was at around 37%. Figured it wasn't gonna make the last tier reward since it barely moved.
Glad I was wrong.

I preordered, though I don't think I could bring my self to actually replay ToS.

Yeah, the game is kinda too long and I've just replayed it a couple years go.
I don't think I'll replay Symphonia as soon as it's released, but I'll still check the first hours just for nostalgia.

It keeps moving up the top sellers list, it's 3rd now. I don't have the money to spare right now so i will wait for a sale but I really hope it does well and we see even more jrpgs on steam.

I think 20-25% off you get from greenmangaming is worth more then Symphonia which is based in the PS3 port (i.e. PS2 port). I am probably going to skip this one till after release as there are too many games on the plate and I have some bad vibes about this port for some reason.

I cancel my purchase because too wary with my wallet condition, will buy later tho, didn't care that much for Shymponia bonus anyway.

Hopefully if this release doing great its open the floodgate for more JRPG at Steam.

Maybe, I just saw people complaining like 30FPS was confirmed.

Yeah. I think people should always wait before jumping onto hating or whatever until the game is out and people unlock the framerate themselves. That shows whether it was the port job or if it's a deeper problem...

If it was on the stream thread, then yeah, it's just GAF jumping to conclusions again.

That's a non-issue with Steam refund. If they release something that doesn't work as it should, people will just get their money back.

But we do know the port based on the HD version, which have 30fps lock

And the gamecube version is the base for the HD version and that is 60.

It confirms nothing. I don't care about discussions on framerate, but at least wait until a proper confirmation to jump on Bamco's throat.

Nope, the PS3 version was based on the PS2 version.
It's obviously going to be 30 fps. They didn't want to admit it on the stream, but if it was 60 fps they'd be screaming it everywhere. Would be nice if I was wrong, or if someone comes up with a framerate unlocked, but don't count on it.

I pulled the trigger on my preorder today. But I'm not sure that I'll keep it. Is it confirmed that the PC will have high resolution textures that PS4?

The PS2 version is what they ported to PS3. It is the most complete version because it has extra content the gamecube version doesn't have but they had to downgrade it immensely and even then it barely ran on the PS2.

And isn't the PS2 version just the Gamecube version with more content and downgraded graphics? -.-"

The original is the gamecube, that's the point.

And as I said, I couldn't care less, but it's really annoying every time a thread just stops being about a game and it derails itself into framerate talk. So could we at least wait until a proper confirmation?

Yeah, PC version seems to be based on the PS4 port.

Both the PC and PS4 version will run at a 1920×1080 resolution with PC supporting resolutions up to 4K. Full HD here we come! They also benefit from many other graphical improvements: the draw distance is 2x times what it is on PS3, with the PC version having a “far” option improving it even more. Shadows, anti-aliasing and textures also got upgraded. The PC version will allow you to switch between low, medium and high for all the preceding options.

Assuming that resolution line is just really poorly worded and it's not locked to 1080p with scaling, it sounds pretty good. Aside from the unfortunate 30 FPS cap, but at least it sounds like they tried it fix that and determined it was more effort than it was worth.
