Don't celebrate too early Sorine ;)

I think it'll do like 50-60k.
Who's celebrating? I for one would like to see DQ localizations continue.

50-60k wouldn't surprise me either, that's more what I originally expected, but the Amazon figures are pretty awful.

I'm dreading next month's thread a bit. Both scenarios will be full of posturing:

"Halo 5 released and still couldn't win? Wow! Clearly the Xbox and Halo brand are damaged forever. Next month will be interesting."

"A price drop and still couldn't win? Wow! Clearly momentum has been lost forever. Next month will be interesting."

Pretty good prediction.

I did my part and I bought both Tearaway and Unfolded.

Hopefully Sony continues to be open about games like that.

Btw, who's going to be Zhuge's succesor and plague us with interesting graphs from now on.
What happened to him banned?

Anyway bought DQH at retailer hoping for good numbers to at least get us DQH 2 because of the co-op feature

So, with the 50$ price cut of the PS4 and the seemingly less aggressive Microsoft strategy I assume that last year's landslide MS victory is out of the question, right?

About that...

This is the Black Friday deal from Dell, but I expect most retailers to have similar deals.

Afaik Turn 10 is or used to be 3x the size of Polyphony in terms of devs (as was revealed back in 2009 or 2010), so imho MS loses money on the series big time, but it's actually a matter of having a racer offering on their platform as a GT counter. At the very least for Europe I imagine.

For what it's worth, there are only 70 LinkedIn profiles associated with Turn 10.

Really? Some will in very limited quantities, but for the most part BF bundles are limited to a console bundle plus another game and sometimes $20-$30 off. Including a $60 controller and $60 game at $50 off is a huge loss. No one is going to sell many at this big a loss.

I honestly think it's wasted money with titles like Tearway. The marketing costs wouldn't justify the most likely paltry increase in sales and if anything, a higher marketing budget would probably result in higher expectations for sales which the title would fail to meet.
I don't think Sony expects much from those titles and simply views them as a way to round out the library or a way for studios to branch out and experiment.
I am glad that they continue to make titles like that.

That's what I think so too. I simply don't think Sony would green light a title like that while deciding not to market it and simultaneously expecting massive sales from the release.

The less of a marketing budget, the better I say. If it makes the sales goal they have to hit so much lower allowing for more of these titles to come out.

yup, MM lives on despite Tearaways market performance. And for those smart enough to actually experience the game, you played a fantastic game. To those who skipped it, jokes on ya'll really.

As Healey says in the MM behind the scenes for Dreams, there was 1 man who created the engine for Tearaway Unfolded. And man, what a brilliant engine that was.

I have the game but I have yet to even open it. For some reason I thought it was a good idea buying DQH, Disgaea 5, Until Dawn and FFX at the same time.

...maybe soon, I'll play it.

Shu also said this last year -

Whoops, that was a banned source. It was the one about them only making money on four out of ten Playstation titles.

Sony is't concerned about the money part of it. They know the money will find its way there even if it has to come from their major titles. Their priority is supporting talent. Granted, I am sure they have their limits with this.

Whatever happens, we all lose :p

Well now they're the same price Ps4 winning Halo month would be more shocking imo. If anything it would prove majority of Halo fans already own a X1.

That still doesn't compare to what they did all November and December of last year. I doubt they will be selling a huge amount of units at that price too. Limited quantities to get people in their stores. With PS4 already officially $50 cheaper I expect some competitive deals for PS4 on Black Friday as well.

The person in charge of greenlighting games are not the same people as the ones who market it.

Boku no Natsuyasumi are all games greenlit by Sony, but LOL they aren't even localised.

Looking at the Nintendo console chart, it is really fascinating how much of a different approach Nintendo apparently took with the Wii U. With the GameCube and N64 they aggressively lowered the price to combat the low hardware sales, Wii U on the other hand is almost at the same level it started at price wise. I get the impression Nintendo quickly decided to fold. It's also interesting that we have reached the final GameCube christmas now. If Wii U really still gets Zelda for itself, it will have outlasted the Cube - albeit selling half as much.

Weird.

The PS4 UCC bundle is tracking ahead Xbone Halo 5 bundle at Amazon.com yet.

I expected the opposite near the release.

$350 vs. $500, but:

Xbox One Halo 5 bundle is ahead now of the Playstation 4 Uncharted bundle in the October 2015 monthly.

#27 Xbox One 1TB Console - Halo 5: Guardians Limited Edition Bundle

#38 PlayStation 4 500GB Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Bundle

N64 never really suffered low sales in the US. It had a limited library but the system and games sold huge here, it was comparable to SNES.

Gamecube yes but I think GC's steep loss bearing drops and production timetable issues are probably why they're holding steady with Wii U and just riding it out. Also, I feel like Nintendo "gave up" internally much earlier with Wii U than they did GC.

There are a ton of PS4 bundles in there and above the UCC bundle though:

#22 PlayStation 4 Last of Us Bundle
#30 PlayStation 4 Star Wars: Battlefront Bundle
#34 PlayStation 4 Destiny Bundle

Plus:

#61 PlayStation 4 COD: BO3 Bundle

Granted SW and COD won't count until November.

Next month is almost certainly going to be close

Edit: The most surprising thing to me is the absence of any other Xbox SKU in the top #100, I'd expect that one of the cheaper options would be a bigger draw.

Yep, I'm aware of that. TLoU bundle seems to be sold out, and the Battlefront bundle won't ship until November. I was just pointing out that the Halo 5 bundle did well enough to end up at #27 on the monthly chart in the few days that it's been on sale.

October is probably too close to call at this point.

Heck of a bundle.

What was the craziest XB1 bundle last year? Anything ever pop up better than the $329 AC Bundle?

I think both Target and Walmart had $30 gift card deals and maybe MCC thrown in. The Dell bundle is really good value as you are getting a controller and Fallout 4. I'm certain there will be some crazy bundles this BF. Come to think of it, I wouldn't be surprised if XB1 spends most of November running different promos such as buy console bundle get free Star Wars or COD thrown in for free.
