The first expansion for FFXIV released on June 23rd 2015. It requires the base FFXIV game and a Lv50 character (with patch 2.55's main scenario completed) to access Ishgard, new jobs, and further expansion content.

Benchmark + Character Creator | Recruit a Friend Campaign

For those that want to join the GAF Free Company (FFXIV's term for "Guilds"), the majority of GAF plays on Ultros and it is open to all (casual or hardcore) players. Ultros currently has a restriction on when new characters can be added to the server. Your best bet is to try and make a character somewhere between 1:00-5:00 AM (5:00-10:00 GMT). Ultros prime time is the evening on EST time zone. As a result EU, JP, and Oceanic players might not have much luck on this server.

♦♦ You must register on the Guildworks site listed below before sending in an application in-game. Not doing this will result in your application being automatically declined. If you were dropped from the Free Company (FC) due to inactivity, just send in another in-game application stating your Guildworks username (if it's different from your character's name) and that you are a returning player. ♦♦

*Make sure to also setup your character's full name on the Guildwork's Display Name field (under Settings).

⇒ STEP #2: Submitting a Free Company Application

1. Target any member with the tag «GAF» in-game, then select View Company Profile from the subcommand menu.

Appropriate subtitle.

Glad to see we're not getting more robes for casters in the armor shown above. Gear still looks terribly boring though.

I, for one, welcome our new Bear Glamour masters. On a related note, I need to stop spending so much gil at the hairdresser's. Sigh.

That's the best dragoon gear in a long while.

Is there a good place to try and hawk some Recruit a Friend codes? Reddit maybe? I'm sitting on several from friends that aren't interested. Already tried their official forums.

im ready to resub for patch 3.1 but want the event items too, how long is the questchain for the mount and armor? :>

This is why XIV holidays suck. You do them for an a little while and that's it.

I'll admit that was a lil disappointing. They could've at least made people do a little work for the furniture items and such. They just cost Gil is all.

They're kind of bad at coming up with interesting ways to "earn" stuff, though. Cherry tree wish bag horrors are way worse than just being able to buy the item. it'd be nice if they came up with a way to hook seasonal stuff into dungeons. Halloween themed Haukke runs that drop an item to trade for seasonal rewards or something (which could still be blown through fairly quickly I synced, but that kind of thing takes several man power I'm guessing they just don't have.

The problem is that they want these seasonal quests to be accessible to players that're very low level. That rather limits ways in which they can have players earn them.

You get a Final Sting and you get a Final Sting, everyone gets a Final Sting!

Please Bee prepared for it.

Everyone is worried about bees.

I'm worried about Leaden sound effects.

I mean ... this quest requires 20, Haukke for the event would be 28. Little Ladies Day required Decipher so that was a level 36 quest. It's not like they haven't done many events that required 30-40+.

Good point. Besides, what they could do is have the basic rewards, (outfits etc,) be a quest reward that you could finish at low levels, then leave furniture rewards for people at end-game, and make them run some piece of content they haven't done in awhile.

Maybe make people farm Lost City and Tam Tara HM, replace all the mobs with pumpkin headed things for a few weeks? I dunno, something.

Events are fine as they are IMO. It took more time getting that broom mount than I've spent trick or treating in real life.

Outfit behind the quest, seasonal tokens good for housing items & mounts as guaranteed drops in every instance, 5% (sub lv 50 content) - 20% (lv 60 content) chance of a minion drop from the last boss chest in every instance.

Going to hold off on subbing and just play during a free weekend. Nothing they've announced has me excited for a return. Pharos Sirius Hard? Lolz.

I'm really surprised at the difference more skill speed makes, considering it's usually at the bottom of stat priority from what I've read (not counting accuracy). I had a friend parse me a few times without using any food to get a average number. I bought some food that gave ss, and some of the parses were 100-250 dps higher with the extra ss. Don't know if that means I should be prioritizing ss gear, or that I should just keep using what I am and buy/make the food.

Skillspeed is very much under appreciated. Granted, it makes more of a difference on some classes than others.

Even if you were playing a job with a SS cutoff I don't think +30 SS alone equates to a gain of 100-250 DPS. Probably got more crits?

Yea, the lowest one was less then 1050 for 193 drg (I'm pretty sure I barely crit) and the others were like 1120-1150 without food. With the ss food I hit 1250-1298, so I guess it's incorrect to say a 250 increase because I don't know how the bad one happened. I'm sure I didn't mess the rotation up on it either.

Elemental resistance low key best materia in the game.
Gotta stack those V's man.
Why do they even still exist, YoshiP?

From what I remember they were considering getting rid of them with the 3.0 expansion. Apparently they decided to keep them at the last minute.

I'm sure the decision has something to do with spreadsheets.
