Just some rough translation, more on 4gamer

On PlayStation VR:
-"Prices and release date will be announced when it is time."

On 4K Blu-ray/Ultra HD Blu-ray:
-"Current PS4 doesn't support Ultra HD Blu-ray."
-"Support is still under consideration."

On PS4 Performance Boost:
-"Can't talk about the specific content."
-"Thinks performance boost might requires a lot of timing when using something better than x86 architecture."
-"So in other words, it is possible."
-"For example, there are ideas such as releasing a standard PS4 and a high performance PS4."

On PS Vita:
-"No first party titles in development for PS Vita currently."
-"Will leave third party devs to do their best."
-"SCE main focus will be on the PS4."

They can go fuck themselves if they release an enhanced PS4 version. A PS4 ain't cheap to do that.

Either do a PS5 or don't do anything.

I'd do it if there was a deal where I could get half off for trading in my current one. It'd be like upgrading a PC.

1. We've known Vita is dead for 1st party since 1984.

2. There won't be a high performance PS4, pretty sure he was just answering a hypothetical question posed. Plus they wouldn't fragment the market that way.

Despite this being common knowledge, it still bites hearing this over and over again :l.

At least indies and JP publishers still care about the platform :).

Yeah, doesn't a mid-gen upgrade defeat the purpose of a gen?

Like as a 3DS owner the new3DS makes me a little mad. I'm glad they fixed some stuff and made it faster and I want in, but I also can't justify the purchase.

If theyre going to release upgraded consoles and fragment the markets ill drop out of the console market, sell everything, save a bit and just buy a good PC.

Interesting idea. I agree VR is probably a driver for it. Tough marketing task though - it'd be nice if it was something they could do as an upgrade kit, but things aren't modular of course.

Wonder what they would name the high performance version?

The real megaton is the possibility of Stability 5.0.

An high performance PS4 seems like it goes against the entire concept of buying a console and it would suck for every current PS4 user. I hope they don't do it.

Sounds a bit difficult to implement, but I'm still interested.

Nintendo did it with N3DS after all.

That is just gold :').

They have a great thing going with the PS4 now, and they want to ruin that by having a 'high' version with the original version being 'mid/low end' version?

Great idea to kill your successful console man XD!

If anything, they could just have PS VR have the specs inside the device (as it has to be hooked up to the PS4 anyway), so that already fixes that issue. Its going to be expensive, so leverage from its high price by putting a lot of tech inside the headset.

A high performance PS4 does not mean your current PS4 stops working, it just means any game created for standard PS4 will run better on high performance PS4.

They are not going to use a different APU, they might just simply clock it higher if they switch to a smaller fabrication node. Everything can stay the same but the smaller node can afford them a higher clock while remaining in the current thermal envelop and the price will remain the same.

Are people really believing in a enhanced PS4?
Not going to happen.
BD 4K support of course, games performance... no.

It would be much better if they just make this gen 4-5 years, release a PS5 fully BC with PS4 games instead.

Releasing a souped up PS4 would just piss off pretty much every current PS4 owner.

Then again, Nintendo has been doing this for ages with their handhelds and the fans seem happy.

I figured they would do a PS4k sometime next year. They have to be careful how they market it though so not to piss people off.

They have to let people know that the only difference is that it plays 4k Blu-rays. I wouldn't do anything else to it. I'm a Blu-ray guy so I would happily get one.
