Gran Turismo Sport announced

All I want to know is, can I get my Poke'cars fix on ps4. Is this GT with amazing graphics, license, customization that only auto mechanics understand and 2000+ cars or what?

This is worse than I could have ever imagined, you done fucked this up PD.
Is this going to have a career mode or is it online only? Throwing the PS4 in the bin is it's the latter, no point in me owning the console if that's the case.

I hope this game will be a game as a service. There is no need for racing games to have 2 or 3 iterations on a console that has a life cycle of min 5 years. It should be treated like drive club, just keeping adding to the game. Nothing ground breaking about a damn racing game to garner another release. Add content i.e. cars, tracks update physics via patches ect...

If It is indeed GT7 under a new name, then ok, this will be great.

My thoughts, too.

The design of the Gran Turismo games just doesn't work in this day and age. The series badly needed an overhaul after GT5, which was as far as they could go with the game in that format.

100% agreed. There is no reason not to do this anymore either.

They should do the same with sports games as well.

I honestly don't know why so many here are confused...........

The FIA online championship is a real big thing for PD/Sony and of course they are shouting about it. GTPlanet now has a news item about this that also makes it clear this is GT7 with a new name.

I reckon we may get gameplay at PSX or own event. I'd imagine also the main game is near content complete if a beta is being done early next year.

This was a pretty confusing announcement that really could have been handled better. But the PS Blog post pretty much spells it out. This is GT7 we just shouldn't expect numbered titles going forward.

NumberTwo

Paper or plastic?
My faith in PD/Kaz is at such a low point right now it can only go up. I hope this game boasts a lists of features that we've come to expect from a racing sim in this day and age.

No this is GT7. They probably just thought it was time to get rid of the numbers. Lots of games do that when they get that high.
Cheers. I wonder if they'll run into a branding issue though?

It might be boring, but somehow I think naming it GT 2017 (or whatever year) would be better...

Hopefully this is the GT Tool they talked about releasing back on PS3. Buy the basic game, its then serviced over years and years with content updates. A smart way of doing it, similar to how DiRT Rally is being developed and released.

Wishful thinking, but I hope that the inclusion of Porsches in the intro video weren't just for show and they struck a deal like Forza did here recently.

Count me in with those that believe this is likely GT7. This fits what Kaz said about it matching the era we live in pretty well I believe. Wouldn't think they would show a Lamborghini Veneno and that Alfa Romeo if this was real motorsports only. Unless it really is a prologue type deal, but I'm kind of doubting that.

Is this a spinoff or GT7? Can't access the video now.

Gives every impression it's a spinoff to me. It's a joint thing with FiA which likely means it'll be limited to real world circuits. I don't think they showed many new cars or any new tracks but there wasn't much footage tbf.

I think the reaction to that likely forever scared them off from attempting anything like it. I expect this to be a full retail GT and then they'll treat it like a service afterwards.

This is a platform, PD doesn't want to be announcing a NASCAR series addition in 2018 to Gran Turismo 2016....

Dates in a games title is best saved for annual sports titles...

Built with forward compatibility through PS5? I terribly explained it in the GT6 OT that it could be like the WoW of car games?

I just don't know if that's possible.

I think it's GT7 with GT Academy folded in, and probably following the Driveclub approach of it being a service rather than a one off release.

I think they also want to get away from numbered sequels.

Maybe, but times have changed since then and I think that this game IS that. They'll just update it over time and it's developed. Prologue had lots of updates so it will probably be similar to that. Maybe they'll do a disc release when it's all ready.

Either way, early 2016 is exciting!
