Gran Turismo Sport announced

Built with forward compatibility through PS5? I terribly explained it in the GT6 OT that it could be like the WoW of car games?

I just don't know if that's possible.

Yep. It makes sense for GT. They take forever to finish a game, so turn it into a service and get the game as its ready instead of waiting for years at a time.

I really hope it's what they're planning.

As long as there are still tons of road cars for me to drive around, I'll be happy. I would hate for GT to turn into something like iRacing. That could (and should) certainly be a major part of the game, but it should not be the main focus imo.

The new Miata's already confirmed, so I don't think you have to worry about it just being a bunch of racing cars.

Some actually think this looks like a PS3 game...? I'm definitely impressed with the little the trailer shows.

Love the concept, especially in a time where the genre is struggling very badly. Get people to like cars again. If this is the PS4's Gran Turismo and there isn't a traditional numbered release, I wouldn't be upset.

Can't wait for the beta.

Best wishes.

Basically this is GT7 Prologue, that's my guess, just that there will be no GT7 at some point, but we'll get paid updates, which sounds horrible on paper, but for my own personal thread of patience, this will be great. I whole heartedly can't wait to get my hands on it and feel their improvements to the physics model given this-gen power to their engine.

I'll pass on VR though. The resolution is not there yet for racing games where you have to judge the distance of turns faaaaaar away but fast approaching, next gen on 4k and >60fps, I'd be in, even if it would be ridiculously expensive.

Where are people pulling this from? What we saw is Gran Turismo 7 - they just did away with damn numbers.

The slower driver/car closeups look great. The rest just smears to YouTube shit.

edit: the cars certainly move convincingly.

Just the car dynamics alone in the trailer were already a step above everything we have seen on console.

This is the most low key reveal ever if so. Kaz Listed GT Academy and Vision GT as the two previous history making ventures before GT Sport. Both of those are collaberation projects rather than 'full' games in their own right.

FIA Collaboration is kind of a big deal. A new Gran Turismo game was revealed on their doorstep.

It wasn't a "massive blowout" because it's still a fairly small event, but PSX is next month, that's where you'll get the game side of things.

Because they are history making ventures. In one case they managed to create a program that actually turns gamers into professional racer drivers. In the other case they basically got every single major car manufacturer around the world to create an exclusive car for Gran Turismo.

So what is the name for GT's collab with the FIA?

NSFW car porn!

Would be crazy if they can implent accurate simulations of the specific regulations for the several racing series. Would be insane if GT Sports is a big cosmos with several micro cosmoses with maybe even specialized players who only play that one series.

Eh the reveal is really confusing, throughtout the entire thing I just wanted Kaz to confirm the traditional career mode will be there. FIA it lovely and all but I really hope this is not an online only game. I understand that FIA is going to be really big so hopefully concentrated on that for this reason but if that is it then fuck.

I think there is a full on single player though, more that these FIA events will replace GT Academy going forward. F1 and WRC licenses are pretty big deals though, they can go all out with those and release proper expansion packs. The name alone does make me think that they will release the game as expected with the single player and online, from then on in they will just keep updating the base game and releasing new updates each year. It would be a good way to go. I'm there day 1 so eh, this is the only game franchise that has me by the family jewels.

I've never understood the way they do GT iterations and I ended up skipping GT6 for Forza 5 since it was next gen. I'd love to get back on board if it looks good.

I honestly dont understand, what exactly is this? A GT academy type of game focused on multiplayer motorsport, or a fully fledged GT title?

Will believe actual gameplay footage, not the trailers they put out beforehand. GT6 burned me good with its dithering and framerate woes in cockpit view.

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/10/27/gran-turismo-sport-announced-at-paris-games-week/

Racing fans, brace yourselves – this afternoon at the Paris Games Week PlayStation Press Conference, Kazunori Yamauchi, along with SCEE CEO & President Jim Ryan, unveiled on stage the latest Gran Turismo iteration: GT Sport, coming to PS4 in 2016.

On stage, the Polyphony team talked about the advances that the PS4 offers to allow them to continue to improve the graphics, physics and sound to deliver the most realistic driving simulator to date. But with GT Sport they’re looking to deliver more than that; to deliver a revolution in the way that people experience driving games, a figurative “rebirth” of motorsports.

FIA Gran Turismo Championships
In Gran Turismo Sport, there will be two online championships officially sanctioned by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) running simultaneously. In the Nations Cup, players will be able represent their home country. Whilst in the Manufacturers Cup, players will be driving on behalf of their favorite car manufacturer.

Players will not only be able to race as drivers themselves, they’ll also be able to root for their home country or their favorite manufacturers teams.

The winner of the championship will be awarded in the same manner as real life motorsports champions, at the FIA prize giving ceremony. This will be a historic moment, the first time a video game will officially be recognised as part of the real motoring world.

FIA Partnership
Working alongside the historic FIA, to develop a game that continues to be more realistic and authentic, the online racing championships promise to offer something new for players.

But it’s not just about online racing; the GT teams have continued to build on the games legacy of accessibility to ensure that the game is open to all to enjoy.

With the beta expected to begin in Spring 2016, it won’t be long before players can experience all GT has to offer on the power of the PS4

Doesn't sound like a prologue to me, more like a reboot that takes the GT Academy concept and runs with it.

You know, this reminded me a lot of the GT6 "Vision Gran Turismo" videos with CGI rendered cars. I'm talking about the level of detail and lighting and so on of the cars

Who KNOWS??! Maybe GT6 Vision Trailers have been running on the Gran Turismo Sport engine all along!
