Sony Paris Games Week Conference 2015 Thread

Thank you Dinjooh for making the thread and constantly updating it. Wish others would follow suit instead of rushing and doing nothing until hours or days later.

Pretty lukewarm conference, compared to both TGS and E3 to be fair. Not a lot of "new" things (some of it but like completely expected)

The Street Fighter and Ono shenanigans are always fun though, especially fooling around with Harada. I love these goofs.

Nice to see gravity rush 2 in action. Looks gorgeous. As well as Horizon, nice to finally see some more consequential gameplay, and the character learned to speak less too

Dreams looks interesting but as always, Media Molecule presentators need to shut the hell up and not be talking to imagineray kindergartners. It's extremely frustrating.

A lot of trailers for nothing really. A bunch of these games I didn't know what the hell was going on (dreams, that somethingfall with voxel ennemies, WilD, would've been nice to get details on some of the VR stuff. )

Overall i either felt confused or bored. The speakers were pretty poor (Jim Ryan looked freaking dead, like a fun-vampire, sucking the life force and joy out of everything around him). And no real "stinger", as shallow as that may seem but they keep these kind of conferences interesting. Also where's Rime, or Last Guardian, or vane, or the tomorrow children or giving some screen time to shadow of the beast or that SHARK TRANSFORMATION from edith finch which looked hilarious. Nope gotta give more screen time to CoD, Battlefront or No Man's sky

Hoping PSX brings a better lot

BETA.

Wow buying tickets is pretty cheap, 17 euros for a full day pass. I am back in Paris for vacation and I really am contemplating going tomorrow.

GAF, I need your help. I thought they showed Raz from Psychonauts in the opening montage so I went back and looked. I don't think it's Raz anymore, but who is this? Is it someone from The Tomorrow Children?

Edit: Fixed

Figured it out, it's the Engineer from Fat Princess Adventures. Man, I was way off. Some day Raz will have his redemption.

The conference was really good... until they did the Dreams demo. That was the Wonderbook moment of the presentation and it sucked the life out of everything that came after it. The pacing died, the momentum was lost, and I suddenly just felt bored by everything.

I'm sure Dreams is going to be all weird and quirky, but it's a niche's niche game. If Media Molecule and Sony can't manage to sell a cute/charming platformer like Tearaway Unfolded, how the hell do they think that this weird whatever it is game actually sell?

Media Molecule struck gold with LittleBigPlanet, but Sony owns that IP and Sumo has proven others can make a great LBP game. So what does MM bring? Dreams? I've got a bad feeling about this.

IDG what LBP IP ownership has to do with it. Are you saying MM would rather churn out another LBP than work on something new, but they can't because Sony said so?

As many have already echoed, the content, announcements and demoes were great.

The presentation and structure, however, dulled the magic and wonder. SCEE should look at how that E3 conference came together.

I'm saying they had one hit (which they don't own) and haven't been able to come up with another success. LBP is now being made by other studios, and they're doing a great job with it. MM made Tearaway for Vita, and it bombed. They made Tearaway unfolded for the PS4, and it bombed. Now they're coming out with Dreams? It doesn't exactly look like a top seller and will probably be another dud. How many strikes until they're out?

Wild! looks very interesting. I enjoyed what they showed a lot.

Horizon looks fantastic to me. Love the design and art style.

No Man's Sky. Well we got release info at last. And it must be coming to VR surely.
The only problem is if Frontier get their shit together they could have a PS4 version of Elite out by then which includes planetary landings.

Driveclub Bikes. Great. I'm not really bothered about bikes tho.

Liked the VR stuff.

MM IS Sony. The LBP IP is under their control.

This is LBP evolved.

Tearaway bombed (did it?) but all we need to worry about really is if it was any good or not. And the answer is that is was great. MM deserve all the "chances" they get.

Sony own Dreams, too. MM is Sony owned dev.

What was the game they showed before the show started that had the player controlling a black tentacle and killing some guy on a ship?
Hope that is a good explanation of what I saw.

I was excited then the dreams demo happened and I litterly fell asleep lol. David cage woke me up though

I liked the Dreams demo. Still watching, Cevat Yerli is speaking right now.

Edit: Robinson Journey is looking killer.. Hoping it's not going to be downgraded (if this is not a totally canned presentation pre-rendered or being rendered on quad titans with CoreI7^2's.

It bombed saleswise but it is still top 5 on both the Vita and PS4 in terms of quality. There is no accounting for taste amongst the mindless masses.

Oddly enough, Housemarque's post-PGW newsletter implies we've already played Alienation on our PS4s, or was there a limited beta?

At this point I would guess that they did finish Alienation and the game is just waiting for a right moment to be released by Sony. So from their perspective that's true.

There are a lot of stuff which really fallen under the radar and I wish that instead of showing what was already known or giving so much time to SFV characters reveal SCEE would provide more info on games which were new or haven't been in the spotlight lately. Alienation is obviously one of them, Rime is MIA, GTSport unveil was rather bad and they should've shown some gameplay, UC4 MP showing with a CG trailer was really weird, etc. Basically the focus of the conference was wrong, less talk, CG and known stuff, more actual gameplay next time.

Something's wrong with that game, it really should be out by now or at least have a release date for soon.

Yeah we've not seen anything in quite some time.

Looks like Shadow of the Beast is due January 27th and Alienation is due March. Just pre-ordered both on PSN.

Most of what was shown today will still not be out in 8 months :(

And yet the PS4 has an amazing start to 2016, so who cares?

Seriously, we're getting...

The Witness
Street Fighter V
Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
Firewatch
Digimon World: Cyber Sleuth
Gravity Rush: Remastered
Deus Ex: Human Divided
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

...all in the first three months. And I'm probably forgetting a load of stuff.

Maybe the game simply isn't for you?
Media Molecule is a Sony Studio, the fact they are not working on infinite sequels of LBP and have been given the freedom to explore new and different things is a plus for them, not a negative. It means Sony believes in them.
Tearaway is a great game and that should be all it matters for a gamer, it hasn't sold well because it's not what the mass market wants to play these days unless you're called Nintendo and even they are struggling.
Dream is a very particular and interesting title, it has an amazing potential, of course it's not for everyone.

They already have set a great beginning of 2016 with Street Fighter 5, Uncharted 4, Ratchet&Clank, No Man's Sky and the beta of Gran Turismo Sport.
Of course other stuff like Gravity Rush 2, Horizon and The Last Guardian will be in the second half of the year.
Wild and Detroit are probably 2017 stuff.

Jim Ryan seemed somehow even worse at presenting than usually, but all in all the conference was enjoyable, even if it felt like a step down from the past few Gamescom presentations.
