Gmg sent out keys and I'm already preloaded FULLY. That's F.U.L.L.Y.

This means, all I gotta do on launch day, is sit back with a drink and some food, twinkle my toes, and play the game. No distractions.

No one can stop me now.

So, steam pre-load is up, but I'm only getting 25gb of install size.
I thought the console versions' install size is 38gb? Will the PC version become bigger after it's unpacked later?

that is most likely due to the game still being encrypted and compressed

I don't have the game, but for the most part the 970 just lacks the GPU compute power and VRAM to handle that resolution. If you want everything maxed along with the best image quality possible you could go with 2560 x 1440 at 30 FPS. The 970 should easily be able to handle that resolution at 30 FPS.

The most taxing game I've played at the res was the battlefront beta on a mix of high/ultra. It was mostly 60fps except for heavy fighting indoors, but I am starting to think my eyes were too big for my stomach with this monitor. I'll give 3440x1440 a stab at 30 fps, but I'll drop it down (begrudgingly) if the 970 isn't up to the task. Really wish I went with a 980ti...

Has anyone read anything on how good sneaking works? I usually go for a sneak build but I wonder how well it'll work in this game. I wonder if it's even worth having if I have Dogmeat around. Companion AI might not work too great with a sneaking build.

Yea, I like the way mgsv handled it. Dd would pretend to be a harmless wild dog if seen. Dd would run a way and draw their attention unless you told dd to rip their throat out.

It would be hard to do in a game like this since raiders are usually hyped up on jet and kill anything on sight. They dont dismiss anything. Lol

Compression probably. I've had preloads before that got bigger once they were downloaded.

Edit: er, not downloaded but unlocked.

Do you guys think the game will punish me for not wearing Power Armor? I didn't ever wear any in Fallout 3 and did fine but there seems to be more emphasis on it this time.

Power Armor now works like a temporary vehicle. There exists only one and you have to refill its energy via power cores. Personally, I don't care about it. I will park it in my only mega-settlement and can use it to defend the town, if it is attacked.

I haven't played yet, but I can't imagine any playstyle choice (within reason) would be so punishing that it'd make a Bethesda game too difficult to complete.

You needed a rebreather to breathe under water in NV. In FO3 I don't think there is any breath mitigation because there isn't much swimming.

As for chems I can understand if that's what they do here. You would take things like mentats and alchohol for the benefits to skills (medicine, speech, barter, lock pick, computers) stats (carry weight, damage resistance, ap) in certain situations and because skills don't exist here it makes sense that they would apply to perks instead. MY question is if skill magazines are in. Those buffs made much more sense than chems and were more focused on specific purposes.

Magazines are still in but now they give you all sorts of different bonuses. There's a book that unlocks different paint jobs for your power armor for example.

This has probably been answered, but is there a weight to the character when you move? Or is it linear like Skyrim/FO3

To add to this, does it feel like you instantly start moving forward and then "glide" across the environment like in FO3/NV, or is it more organic?

And personally for me that makes it sound a lot more interesting than what it used to be. I might actually try using Power Armor in this Fallout.
