I absolutely adored it. Here's my review for Push Square:

Bloodborne: The Old Hunters is much more of the same from what is already an outstanding game. The new environments and boss encounters add hours to the main experience, but it's the deluge of additional equipment that will keep veterans most occupied. If you've been yearning for a reason to return to Yharnam, then this DLC practically demands your Blood Echoes. Just remember that the life of hunter is defined by death – and you're going to die a lot.

I forgot to check if it preloaded for me. I assume it did while in standby last night. Needless to say I am super excited to play this.

Not much to preload anyways. It's like a 10 MB or so file I saw. Most of the stuff is expected to have already been put in with the latest patch which was over 10 gigs or so, so make sure you have that installed.

Guys. IGN gave it an 8. It's a great score. Don't turn the whole thread into "IGN sux" please.

Amazing reviews so far.

Destructoid being Destructoid here.

To be honest.. it doesn't even sound like the reviewer played all of the DLC.

He says 5 hours.. ehh.. I used like 10+ hours, but hey I'm old and an average gamer. Then he mentions the bosses. It doesn't sound like he fought one of them, at least by the description he gives.
And the he mentions Werewolves.. Maybe I'm strange .. but I don't remember meeting any in the DLC..?

But again.. his opinion is still valid. The review just reads like he didn't give the DLC enough time.

Generally people need to stop pretending that reviewers pissed in their cornflakes. You want this to be good, that's alright. You're probably going to enjoy it. Same goes for me.

If a critic felt the DLC didn't deserve a higher score then he has every right to say so. No need to "defuse reviews" by finding reasons why the reviewer is wrong.

Agreed -- it's not like the lack of innovation isn't necessarily a downside. It's likely we're not expecting (or wanting) to much variation from the formula that works really well already. So it's a negative we can ignore given personal taste & expectation -- plus, they clearly thought everything else was awesome.

Certainly are werewolves, right as soon as you start in the main circular passage. After that I've not seen many, but I'm stuck at one boss now. 5 hrs could be possible without hunting everything down, not doing NPC quests and also if you're way overleveled before even starting and plow through everything (run).

Also of course areas are reused a bit, it's the same city in ruins. Not sure the point or expectation for that.

Yeah, it's definitely more than five hours. I spent 15 or so hours with it and I still have locked doors I have no idea how to open and several items missing from inventory. It's a big hunk of content.
