Who Must Die - Free (PC)
Who-Must-Die.gif

http://antoinusitos.itch.io/who-must-die

You are replacing a doctor, charged to find who, among the three patients, is the one that is contaminated. To do this, you can use a whole range of experiments to be performed on the sick. You can also ask the guard to do the dirty work for you. You must choose just one patient to kill or ..Maybe this job is too hard for you and you will take the last option.. not to choose ...

I can't check the links at work - is it MP like Lovers? Or is it predominantly SP? The multiplayer focus really turned me off lovers.

On another note - laptop came - downloaded a few games and finally bought Undertale and put a couple of hours into it. It's.. really cool so far! I knew very little about it going in, but what I did know already coloured my impressions -
I know you can do a pacifist playthrough so that's what I've started.

I wish I had known NOTHING.

Well, Destiny made me buy a PS4 again, and this time will be the only game installed...

Until my friend finishes FallOut 4 and gives it back

Will have to play FEZ, Rayman Legends and Super Meat Boy on there as well, soon

Single player. Like Lovers in the sense that you need to clamber around the inside of the vehicle to control its functions

Steam Black Friday/Autumn Sale starts on Wednesday! Any games people are looking to get?

There's no Daily Deals/Flash this year right?

I'm on the lookout for:

Curious Expedition
Wasteland 2

And then I'll keep my eyes peeled for other bits and pieces!

What about you man?

Broforce just got a new update

I tried Curious Expedition during one of the free weekends, didn't really impress me. The combat felt kind of half-baked, and the map exploration was pretty boring IMO. Felt more like a numbers game than capturing a sense of exploration.

The main games I'm interested in are Elite: Dangerous, Hover, and The Forest

The Pedestrian - PC, Mac
SizzlingJoyousDromaeosaur.gif

http://skookum-arts.com/the-pedestrian/

The Pedestrian is a 2.5D puzzle platformer that takes “puzzle platforming” literally. You play as the male restroom symbol (aka The Pedestrian) who works at the restroom sign along with his beloved (The female symbol). When she disappears, you must escape your day job and embark on a perilous journey where you piece the “sign world” back together to make it through.

Anyone here played Celestial Tear: Demon's Revenge?

I am also looking at Telepath Tactics and Celestial Tales: Old North.

^
Celestian Tales: Old North is good

----

Neon Struct got a free expansion along with a level editor. Minor Key Games must be one of my favorite developers.

Also I can't wait to this year end, I'm full of tasks to do at work and I just arrive at home just too much tired to find energy to play games, and it's sad since I just started Shadowrun: Dragonfall and the setting hooked right from the start.

Neon Struct is on my Steam sales wishlist actually - really enjoyed the demo.

I'm the same. I leave for work at 7 am and get home at like 7.30. As soon as I've eaten it's half 8 and I'm exhausted. I played some Divinity last night with my best mate but once we'd made our characters it was half 10! It's a nightmare - I've managed maybe less than 10 hours of gaming in the past 6 weeks?

Looking through Steam, the only major remaining indies this year look like RIOT and Banner Saga 2

So probably a good time to start thinking about best 2015 indies lists

Not sure I'm allowed to post my own stuff in here, so if I'm not, I'll edit it out!

I just released the first trailer for Honey Rose: Underdog Fighter Extraordinaire, which is still kind of a ways off, but I'm hoping for a 2016 release. As for the rest, well, see for yourself:

Looks great. And don't worry, devs are always welcome to share their games here

Slain got pushed to January....

At least the GRIP alpha is coming this month, so I'll have that to enjoy instead

Pity, was hoping to play that before the year was up but can't complain too much if the devs felt it was required to give the game polish. Also, sorry for beoing a little AWOL this month, Legacy of the Void has been taking up most of my gaming time so I've had little time for indies for now.

Sweet, thanks :)

As far as 2015's best indies list, as you said the year isn't over, but mine will still most likely feature Ori on the top spot, and Invisible Inc as a close second! Only unknown is Undertale at this point, as I still haven't played it...

But I mostly want to make a special mention for The Writer Will Do Something, small IF from the year's beginning which I found to be very well done, and rung very true!

Those will definitely be high on my list too. So many good games this year

I really liked Duskers, Infinifactory, and Besiege too

Soon™

Hi folks --

We're getting close to wrapping up Act IV. It's been a long road, but we feel good about the work & we're excited to share it with you.

Here are a couple high-res versions of Act IV's banner/teaser art:

krz-act4-full.jpg

We want to thank you again for hanging in there while we quietly spent the last year or so (since "Here And There Along The Echo") working on this episode. It's important to us to embrace the uncertainties of working on a project like this, and so valuable+gratifying to have an audience who respect that. We're eager to transition from thanking you for waiting into thanking you for playing!

more soon!

I think it got delayed to next year but I am not 100% sure.

Dungeon of the Endless got a free update today!

I think my brother has played more on my laptop than myself lately.

Awesome! And full controller support now, I wonder if the game will be coming to consoles eventually

It has been slated to hit the Xbox One at the very least, announced some time last year. I'm going to assume that version will be along in due time now that it has full controller support and UI tweaks to compensate for that method of interaction.

This fucking game has completely changed my outlook on combat in action RPGs (of the top down kind.) Hilarious and really awkward at first then becomes completely awesome. It's entirely physics driven to the point where even things in the character creator like height and weight impact the simulation (short characters have a lower center of gravity and thus more balance but taller characters have more reach with their swings, thin characters are more agile but have less force behind their hits) All the gifs in this post are from the arena mode which serves as a combat boot camp. The current main game is a permadeath dungeon crawler that is heavy on atmosphere and very light on hand holding, you're encouraged to avoid fights early on and pay close attention to your surroundings and fucking break out some graph paper to draw a map. It's early access still and shaping up to be something really special.

Yes, the combat is fantastic. It has such a great feeling of weight and force. The most realistic moments IMO are when you're close, and you get tangled up, weapons clanging, it really feels like a desperate struggle

And actually, Examina is a demo of sorts for an even bigger RPG Sui Generis

Elite is a great price - definitely get it. My mate just bought me Life is Strange because it's my birthday! But there's not much else really...
I was going to get Elite, but then I read that the Horizons expansion will include the base game, so I'm waiting for that

Life Is Strange is fantastic. I was hesitant to play it, didn't seem like something I'd like due to the setting, but damn, it's so good.

Subnautica is 25% off.

In related news, Subnautica is fucking awesome, and I'm really not a fan of survival games.

I love that game so much. You can turn off that awful blur filter, by the way! Gotta edit some ini file.

Another recommend for Life is Strange. That game was probably one of my most enjoyable plays this year. One of the very few that actually tempted me to call in sick to work just so I could keep playing a little longer on it.

Is that indie game with the cool animated ferret thing out yet? Beautiful 2D art, fluid animations...can't remember the name.

I guess I need to look into the pricing structure some more, as I was all set to pick up Elite in the sale. Is every expansion pack another chunk of money? For a game that's not "finished" yet I find this odd.

"Elite Dangerous: Horizons includes all Elite Dangerous content to date, and all players will continue to fly together in the same galaxy. Existing Elite Dangerous players receive a £10 loyalty discount off the price of Elite Dangerous: Horizons, retaining their progress and unlocking the exclusive ‘Cobra Mk IV’ in-game spacecraft."

Torn on Kentucky Route Zero. Looks gorgeous, but what does the gameplay entail? Seems pretty focused on dialogue. Is there any exploration, or puzzles?

So think of Kentucky Route Zero as a play. It's easier to wrap your mind around it if you think of it more as a play rather than a Point n Click game.

The play entails you following characters around during one night in Kentucky, and it is built around exploring this world (filled with secrets in each act), and building the dialogue of the play and the character development around what YOU want it to be.

None of the choices are big, and intentionally the game seems to subvert the Telltale/Life Is Strange "EVERY CHOICE EVER MATTERS", where just about no choice matters, but it builds the back story of the events just for you.

It's a hard sell, but luckily there are 3 free acts available here:
http://kentuckyroutezero.com/limits-and-demonstrations/
http://kentuckyroutezero.com/the-entertainment/
http://kentuckyroutezero.com/here-and-there-along-the-echo/

These can act as demos, with Limits and Demonstrations literally being one, The Entertainment being a literal actual play that
captures a scene literally 30 minutes before it happens in the game
, and Here and There Along The Echo tying in somehow in the upcoming Act IV (email went out yesterday saying it is nearing completion).

Its not finished, and it won't be for probably a year and a half, but it's a 3 person team (one programmer/designer, one writer/artist, and one musican/sound designer), and a whole lot of love shines through every pore of this game.

Just checked out Limits and Demonstrations. I had thought the game was 2D. So all the environments in KR0 are 3D like that?

Also, one more question: are the environments relatively linear or are they more open to explore?

The game shifts perspective depending on the scene. They really looked to stage performances and cinematography for establishing scenes and giving each one unique angles and approaches. Everything is 3D models though, which becomes apparent during some of the more dynamic sequences.

As for environments, a good many of them are A to B, but there's quite a few that encourage exploring to find little details and bits of dialog you might otherwise miss. One area in particular will require you to learn an outside-of-the-box method of travel. There are also little mini text adventures hidden away in the road map you traverse between sequences, many of which are quite far out of the way. They also repopulate the map with new ones every once in a while, though I'm not sure of the exact conditions needed.

It's a game less about gameplay and more about the strength of the writing, characters and coming to terms with the rules of this strange stretch of land. But they do keep exploring the game's world fresh by changing things up every once in a while. Not quite as drastic as the shift between Limits & Demonstrations and The Entertainment's perspectives and mechanics, but just enough that you can always appreciate the thought they put into it.

Hey, Toma, have you kept up with Software Inc? I'm trying to decide between that and Crosscode

Yeah, I know. Not actually similar

I did check out the Software Inc demo, and it was fun, but it seems kind of one-note

Btw, I started a thread for Software Inc

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

There werent many updates lately because the dev was working on a single bigger feature:
<- Freeform building

That building system is probably one of the best implementations I have seen in the Indie game space and probably was a huge annoyance to code.

Other than that the dev is now working full time on the project since a few weeks.

I cant really disagree with buying crosscode either as that game is fantastic. I might even argue CrossCode is the better game overall, but Software Inc is more like a game which you could play and replay again with new versions, whereas Crosscode has already finished content that you would replay upon full release.

Hi!

If anyone wants to try the shiny, brand new Rise & Shine press demo, hit me up with a PM to send you a download link. I've got more or less 10 copies to give away, but that number can vary. First come, first served!
It's PC only and you'll need a controller in order to play it properly.

New trailer just released yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQN-f9Isi9s

I tried the demo. Goddamn, that art style looks great at 1440p. Animation is lovely as well. I love how your shell casings never despawn.

There's an interesting puzzley focus to the game with the different bullet types and such. It's hard to tell how well it'll work over the course of an entire game but I like it so far. Barring some awful reviews, I'll probably buy it.

In related news, Adult Swim is still doing great work.
