Bayonetta 2 |OT| The time has come, and so have Wii!

I just started playing Bayonetta 2 recently and wow. The game is fantastic. It is such an improvement of the first in every way. I admit that while I enjoy the first one, it wasn't the "by far the greatest action game of all-time" that people were hailing it as. But Bayonetta 2 fits that description so far. I just hate how it penalizes you for dying when it comes to level trophys. Also the game has to be played on hard mode, normal is crazy easy.

Check the inner game cover.

Why would they put it in there? Is Nintendo trying to have people not use their reward codes?

It's funny because they're ending Club Nintendo which makes that change irrelevant. Guess it saved them some paper.

I feel the game gets better or doesn't improve depending on who you are. Hopefully it's the former for you.

Playing this now and am curious if the game's irritating tendency to interrupt with cinematics continues throughout the game. Just hit chapter 4 and that seems to have a good balance of encounters and story, but the ones before that kind of got on my nerves.

I don't hate the story so I don't want to skip it, I just wish it were a bit less frequent and there were more fights between them.

A bit off topic, but can somebody translate this piece from Ultra Jump from Japanese? It says something about Bayonetta (character designs?).

If you are still interested, it is about a serialized series she is doing called "Ariadne's Crown." It appears to be her first serialized work too. I am interested in seeing that. I don't seem to see any groups translating it though. I will ask my bro to pick up a tankoubun when the first few chapters are collected together.

Anyone else vote for Bayonetta in Smash 4?

So I unlocked Infinite Climax and am now trying to do the game without Witch Time by using Evil Rosary. The game is fun, but it feels like some bosses aren't made to be fought without Witch Time. A good example is the first fight with
Baldur
as the only way to beat him was to shoot at him until he would do his charge laser attack and do one combo on him and repeat. Unless I missed something? That said other fights are more enjoyable and the game as a whole is still very enjoyable.

Haven't played up to that skill level, but couldn't you use other relics to help you? Obvious choice would be Bracelet of Time to activate Witch Time on demand, or the Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa which I assume stuns him on counter?

Bayonetta 2 boss spoilers and potential Yu Yu Hakusho spoilers.

Any anime fans find aesthetic parallels to Itsuki from Yu Yu Hakusho and Loptr from this game? The background you fight on and the six giant floating arms mainly. Is it just a coincidence, or more like an intentional reference?

Is tag climax dead? After a long break I decided to play this and decided to start over. It finally "clicked" and now I'm having a blast. But all my online requests time out. :(

I get better results from hosting a game than searching for one.

Worst case you get to practice with the AI, which although not the best, is competent enough given that it dodges mostly when it needs to and will always ensure to revive you.

The Angelic LP fragment hunting has to be one of the worst ideas in gaming. Hiding the weapons in a hack and slash / character action game in super obtuse places and making the players re-do the chapters to collect them all is awful.

I just turn to a FAQ for stuff like that, not reason to deprive yourself otherwise. I recently went back to Bayo 1 and it turns out I was missing 3 weapons by the end (this is my second time through the game). Looking it up seems lame, but having to hunt them down is lame to begin with so I don't feel too bad about it.

"In Bayonetta 2, the Bracelet of Time activates Witch Time for a fixed duration and consumes only a limited amount of magic orbs with each activation."

I'm confused because I could swear I've been using it like in the first game, only when the button is held down, if I let the button go, WT is over.

I'm not quite sure I get tag climax yet.

Seems like a stupid question but from every gameplay video of this it seems to have a ninja Gaiden Xbox vibe. If I loved that game will I like bayonetta 1 and 2?

They're very different styles of action games, though there's no denying that these games are also very well designed.

I absolutely love both. Bayonetta 2 is to the Wii U what Ninja Gaiden was to Xbox. If you have a Wii U DEFINITELY pick it up.

Ive just finished my first run on 3rd climax, and now i wanna do an all collectibles run, is the difficulty a factor in the number of collectibles available? thanks

edit: Do i need certain skills to get certain collectables?

difficulty has no effect I think, and neither ford equipment/skills I think. Some might make it easier, though.

I don't know if this has been posted in another thread but the Bayonetta in SSB4 announcement has resulted in the remaining copies of Bayo 2 being snatched up fairly quickly. If you're looking to get the game (in the US) I'd check GameStop since their price for the game is still reasonable. Prices on eBay and Amazon are ridiculous.

of course

Okay, awesome! I'm on chapter 10 of B2 after finishing B1 and I've discovered that these games are very difficult for me... However I'm gradually getting better. B1 was massively harder than B2 for me.

I wish j didn't suck at the combat so much :p . Definitely going to replay these both.
