I re-saw Bloodsport two years ago, and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever.


I know that objectively, it's not a good movie, but it has so much heart and atmosphere that it is impossible not to love. There is this corny, yet almost cute and obtuse coolness to it. The depiction of Hong Kong, the soundtrack, the arrogant American friend (he is incredible).

I expected to laugh at how bad it was but instead it gave me this insane wonderlust for travel and fightin around the world.


I love Gina. I love Van Damme (JCVD is incredible). I love GSP. Not sure about this Bautista fellow. He is a wrestler?

A lot of what made Van Damme's movies great were the cheese factor. I hope we get to see 55 year old Van Damme (yeah I know he'll play the role of master) pay tribute to the original wearing high-wasted pants and recreating that horrible yet great dance scene.

I think there's been a Bloodsport reboot in the works for the longest damn time, but it never seems to gain any traction. I think Kickboxer is just easier to work with, as it has a pretty solid emotional core to it that really doesn't exist in Bloodsport.
