Just Cause 3 PC performance thread

Dang, Mad Max had Denuvo didn't it? Is this a case of Avalanche just likes using it, or both Square Enix and Warner Bros are going to do it for every PC game they release from now on

Got a 2500k and a gtx 660, bare minimum I guess.

Played a bit, game looked great but was stuttering an awful lot. Tried to mess with the settings a bit, but couldn't get rid of it ;(

Reducing shadow quality sure helped though.

I guess this is the first game I won't be playing at 1920x1080
Feels weird.

Alright...the new AMD Crimson Beta driver solved the corrupt textures glitch I talked about earlier. A dev said they are working with AMD on an official driver to fix issues so that's good I suppose. I had to lock the framerate to 30 because I didn't want to deal with the drops right now though. Used the per-game FRTC setting in Crimson to do it.

Is it a perfect scenario? Not in the least

Does it make it where I can play the game and at least not worry about things until hopefully a better fix is made? Sure

------

Maybe the OP can add a note to the first post about the AMD driver issue (Make sure to use the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.11.1 Update - 15.11.1 Beta driver releeased November 30th)

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Would love to see CPU and RAM benchmarks for this sucker. Open world and physics simulation should be a nice benchmark. Wonder how well threaded the game is, and even if an i7 2600 would give a good boost over i5 2500.

Yeah there is something off with AF or LoD. Super distracting pop in nearly all the time.

Game is running well, but I'm hoping some tinkering can be done because as fast as you move through this game, it's very annoying seeing details pop in like that.

Wait... is... is that 54GB the space it takes on the HDD or what it downloads from Steam because, if the latter, I'm fucked beyond belief, haha.

Aww man was really looking forward to getting this. Now I'm seeing people with 770 having a problems.

Anyone with a 770 getting good performance?

Poor performance at 1440p on a 970, SLI isn't working yet again.... I had everything at max other than textures and LOD at high, and I am only using FXAA and still can't get 60 FPS. I hope SLI support comes tomorrow :(.

Anyone with a 780/780ti able to report on their performance? A bit worried about these reports from 700 users.

I have a 780 ti and an FX-8320 @ 4.4 Dips everywhere 30 to 60 constantly. Not smooth even a little bit. I bet the AMD processor is the big culprit here. Upgrading soon anyway so oh well.

Damn, that's disappointing considering how fantastic SLI/Crossfire was in JC2. Looks like I'll be waiting.

So is SLI like...never again going to be ready for new AAA releases
I've never personally used SLI, but I can't think of a game off the top of my head where people with SLI said it worked perfectly at release. (There probably are some.)

It seems to cause more problems than it is worth, considering how difficult it can apparently be to implement for limited performance gains in some cases.

AO does some weird things for me (or it's GI?) it like.. flickers heavily at times.

Also, are nvidia drivers for this, out yet?

Doesn't look like it unfortunately.

I have a single 980ti at the moment and was always planning to get a second before the end of this year but I just keep asking myself "what's the point?"

Damn, pre-ordered because apparently the game runs fine on GTX 950/750's.

Anybody tried to lock the framerate to 30fps? Maybe that could help?

Everything max

I maintain 60fps most of the time, but dips do happen during massive explosions.

Biggest drop I saw was down to 44fps. Loading times are fine, even on an HDD.

Anyone seeing bad framerates during cutscenes - I got down to 30 (from 60) when Dimah gives you the
new grappling hook

Seems like 2500k at the base 3.3ghz clockrate isn't enough for this game. After noticing the odd freezes I describes on the first page I monitored my CPU and GPU usage and noticed the cpu reaches 100% and then the game freezes down to 0-1 fps for like a second. So I decided to try Overclocking it a bit and just increasing it to 3.5ghz made the stutters down to 0-1 dissappear, still got sub 10 drops sometimes but it seems to be actually playable now.

Albeit a bit worried about my cpu temps since I just got the basic cooler it runs at around 80C now which should be fine right? Really need to get an aftermarket cooler.

Yep. I get bad fps all over the place, it hangs for 2-3 seconds after the explosion in the first cutscene, random framedrops everywhere. Sucks.

So...I loaded up the game for the first time, and geometry wasn't loading in correctly. There were flat out pieces of hills missing, giant triangular chards. Imagine something like Grow Home, but pieces of it missing. I quit out and rebooted, same thing. It doesn't seem to just load in.

i7-4790
R9 290

WIndows 7

Anyone else seen this?

EDIT: This is what I'm seeing, sorry for the crappy quality.

If thats the case it will save me $1,000+ on their GPUs. I always buy the new Titans in pairs, but not next time.

Hmm got the same problem, tweaking settings never seemed to fix it. Maybe I should try to overclock but I'm afraid of the temps as well ;(

you have to download the new Beta version of the Crimson drivers (15.11.1 Beta) to fix the corrupt textures issue...they got released today

As far as I've been able to read on the steam forums, there is a beta AMD driver that fixes the issue and the devs are working with AMD to release an official driver soon.

Running like shit for me

i5 2500k
390X (15.1.1 Drivers)
1440p

It will stay at 60 on maxed settings but as soon as action picks up its down into the low to mid 40s.

Im still busy with Fallout, so I hope between the devs and AMD, performance gets ironed out soon.

I just bought it from GMG but I haven't received my code.

When I look up my account game list on their website, it says "no keys available for this game." Did they run out?

My bank account has been charged.

I got my code from GMG last Friday. Hit up their customer support

One crash to desktop, one lockup.

Going to set everything to low and disconnect my network cable. If it happens again I'm going to request a refund on steam for the first time. Fucking hell

everyone. play the game in offline mode on steam. i'm now getting smooth 60fps.

unreal.

Haha I wanted to try that because the stuttering reminded me of the old issue with driver san francisco but I thought it couldn't be that simple...will try!

Offline mode is giving me better performance as well. I still get some dips, but it is overall more consistent

hmm min specs is requiring a semi-beefy CPU. I wonder how many people in the DF console thread were merely bashing the consoles CPU's for the hell of it? lol
