CAPCOM files trademark for "ONIMUSHA" (Not Renew)

Whilst I hope this is true, who left at Capcom could do it? The talent has left (only the Resident Evil team and Devil May Cry dev teams are left), I'd rather Platinum get it farmed out to them to make it, quite honestly.

It's more likely that this is what happens when publishers realize the traditional gaming market is declining and they're scrambling to fix it.

"Let's light a fuse in the nostalgic fires, that will be a long lasting fix and not a temporary solution, nope".

If this is a legit Brand New Onimusha game for PS4, i'll be pretty surprised we got Onimusha back before Dino Crisis.

Loved 1,2 and 3. Never got to play dawn of dreams though :(

Whatever you make Capcom, I will buy. I can't believe that this and a RE2 remake have sort of been announced in the same year.

Same here, honestly.

I mean, for years, it seemed like Sengoku BASARA (home of Capcom's OTHER Demon King Oda) was their fulfillment of still having a "Sengoku-themed franchise" on their quota. Meanwhile, people have known that Jurassic Park was coming for years, and Capcom didn't have a Dino Crisis game ready.

That said...after all the bits of lore teasing that was abound in the Onimusha F2P game, I'd REALLY love to see a new game that incorporates any of that.

Two things are possible...well three i guess.

World premiere reveal during The Game Awards, PSX or E3 2016.

Or maybe not a goddamn thing.

I love the Onimusha series... but considering how many games Capcom makes these days, I'd much rather they spend money on making a new console IP since probably every other dev team is either making Monster Hunter, SF, Resident Evil, or some mobile game. With the current Capcom, please focus on making more new IP's.

Dino Crisis - 2.4m
Dino Crisis 2 - 1.2m
Dino Crisis 3 - lol

Onimusha - 2.02m
Onimusha 2 - 2m
Onimusha 3 - 1.56m
Onimusha DoD - also lol

I wouldn't be surprised. Onimusha made them slightly more money, and is somewhat more fondly remembered than DC due to it lasting throughout the PS2 era.

They probably don't realize they can cash in on Jurassic World's success either.

Well, they're making Deep Down. Kinda.

Verendus claimed Capcom were developing a new TPS IP, but that was probably just Umbrella Corps.

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
I was pissed when I booted up that game to find out that Jean Reno was not playing Jean Reno.
I think he did actually do Jacque's French voice.

Huh?

Onimusha has sold nearly twice as much as Dino Crisis.

It is their most relevant franchise outside of the big names RE,SF,DMC,MH.

I dont know how much the Jurassic world hype would have helped Dino crisis. But then again , Capcom werent in a pretty good state back then to take advatage of it. They seem much better now after some succesful remasters.

It also released on more platforms Xbox,PC. Not huge numbers on those , but it is quite well known.

For you.
HD collection maybe? Guess it could explain why Onimusha 3 was removed from Steam.(could also be because of the right to a certain's actor likeness)

Traditional gaming market is declining so they revive a niche series? Last thing I think publishers would do in a contracting market is revive games like Shenmue and Onimusha.

The market is contracting due to a relative exodus of casual gamers, hence publishers bending over backwards to placate core gamers, who are of course still here.

The PC and Xbox ports are counted as separate SKUs.

Please Capcom let this be for consoles and not a damn mobile game. You hurt me once already with Breath of Fire 6, don't do this again.

I have a feeling this will be reboot of the first game and it'll be a PS4 exclusive.

Sony basically acquiring Capcom's IPs without buying them out. I guess that could be good for Capcom until they feel comfortable taking on the risk of AAA development on their own again.

I was mainly talking Jurassic World success. That and well Capcom kind of owes me with that shit they pulled with DC3.

You know what now that I think about it that makes a lot of sense. Capcom probably didn't want to necessarily spring on a new Onimusha. But Sony knows that would be a popular title for Japan as well as the west. So they just pay them like they did for SFV. Capcom gets a PC release as well more than likely. Most come out happy outside other platform owners.

Fuck it. HYPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if it's PS2 classics.

I never finished 2 and Dawn Of Dreams. Would be great to replay them all.
And hope we'll get the tactics game as well on Wii U VC.
Onimusha Tactics has been up on VC for a couple months now, iirc

Some of the things that charmed me about Onimusha are no longer acceptable today. Tank controls, static camera angles, save points, etc. Though I do think modern audiences are now receptive to difficult combat encounters, so that could be something.

Assuming this is something new that isn't a mobile / browser game. I don't see how they could re-release any of the first three Onimusha games consider the likeness issue.
