We are always interested in getting to know more people with the same hobby. If you share our love for Indies, let us know! We talk about anything Indie, want to talk about the block design in Braid? The character design in FEZ? Need recommendations? This is the right spot to ask! We'd also love to read more impressions :)

| 3.5 Quick Note about Formatting |
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you want to suggest a game that has recently released or that looks interesting, but hasnt released yet, please follow the following formatting structure so the post is picked up by Toma-Bot:
Released games:
TITLE - PRICE (PLAT)
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Not yet released games:
TITLE - PLAT
LINK
DESCRIPTION TEXT
Copy the appropriate content and add the proper information for the black writing. Please only include 1 link and 1 image. I tried making it a bit failsafe, so it should be able to deal with 2 links or images as well, but 1 is safer.
If the game is free, then put "Free" as the price, otherwise please use $ or € for the price. You can also include more than one game per post (like the Screenshot saturday posts), but please stick to the above format for every entry.
If someone posts a non-proper formatted post, I'd appreciate if you could repost the game with the same info in the proper format.
I noticed there are a few noteworthy, and relatively unknown, projects that deserve a shoutout here because I feel that they share a common interest with the people in this thread. I talked to the guy from Pixabyte and MetaVendetta and both are very enthusiastic about the things they love and figured you might appreciate the shoutout as well. If you enjoy anything here or want to give feedback, let these guys know via their websites or also here in this thread. If you appreciate something, let people know. A heads up can sometimes very valuable.
Yearly, yearly voting. Yearly, yearly voting!
I should probably throw up a quick list in 2 weeks to give some last minute recognition for some games that you guys should still play if you havent yet.
Also: Thread is filled. As usual, if you find any errors, please post them here in the thread and I'll correct them until tomorrow.
Is it kosher for me to mention my game?
Turnover - December 15, 2015 (Windows, Mac, Linux)
Sure, devs are always welcome here
I forget you were on GAF. I follow the devlog on TIG and I think I remember you posting over in the Kickstarter thread. Nice to see this is coming out soon
That's right, you had some very kind things to say when I reached my goal. I really appreciated that.
The guy that did Maldita Castilla is releasing another game this month. It's actually available now if you supported him in the past. It's called The Curse of Issyos and looks to be to Castlevania, what Maldita Castilla was to Ghosts 'n Goblins, though with a different style:
Matthew Brown (Hexcells, Sentinel) is releasing a new puzzle game this week. It's called SquareCells.
Ahh, champion news right there. Look forward to getting that day uno. The base game mechanics do look fairly similar to picross-like puzzles so I hope he leans away from that with some potentially interesting new mechanics.
Picked up RymdResa during the Black Friday Steam Sale and just finished going through the 3 chapters. I really enjoyed it's take on the roguelike. The poetry was a bit of a mixed bag, but I had a lot of fun flying around space seeing shit. Based on the achievements, there's a bunch of hidden stuff I haven't seen yet.
Grow Home is probably going to be on my list - if it counts!
Eh, I'll stick with our rule: If we think it might be included, then it might as well be.
So far we didnt run into someone trying to classify Fifa or Call of Duty as "Indie", so it works out decently enough.
If our list ever contains mostly Ubisoft/EA/Sony/MS titles, thats going to be a problem of course, but currently I dont see any issue with including some of the small scale projects that are basically "independent" teams within big publishers.
A bit surprised about Ori, havent played it yet though. What made it "this" good?
Absolutely gorgeous art and animations; fluid and satisfying gameplay; a mix of fun combat, challenging platforming, and exploration
My favorite 2D platformer that I've played this year
Have you seen the comments about it around GAF? Many calling it one of most beautiful platformers ever made or the best platformer of 2015.
I hate thinking about GOTY stuff, my memory is so shot to hell I always fail to remember like fifteen games I loved during the year. Probably something like Axiom Verge, Infinifactory and RocketLeague would be on my list though, hmmm.
I've had this for a while but I decided to hold off on a playthrough until the enhanced edition is released. Here's hoping current owners can get it for free or a substantial discount.
Pillars of Eternity
Castle in the Darkness
Old Tales: Ceslestian North
Undertale
Downwell
And I think the list will go on, need to check what I played.
Definitely wouldnt remember all of it, I basically go through all monthly lists again and then pick what I remembered to be good. and then work with those ~40-50 titles to reduce my list to 20.
Do you all consider RL to be indie? Small studio, scrappy for sure. My most frequently played game this year.
Also are we including games released in December 2014 (from the January thread)? That would be stuff like Talos Principle, LISA, and Starship Rubicon
Cut my list down to 33 games...going to be hard to reduce it more
So many good games this year
Edit: are we considering Elite: Dangerous an indie game?
I'd second this as well actually. Ori I played through in 2/3 sittings - it's gorgeous, as those gifs show - but it also has excellent pacing in some situations. That gif of the water flooding in might be one of my standout moments in gaming of this year.
It has a few problems but, on the whole, I'd recommend it to anyone.
Rocket League makes the cut as well.
I haven't played as many games this year, but my list will probably include Ori at the top or near top. I also really loved Not a Hero, the game gets really good once you have a good understanding of the mechanics. Talos will be up there if we're able to vote on it. Really good game.
What about Witcher 3? Developed and published by CDPR
I wouldnt include it considering the amount of buzz, advertising and production values. It just... seems weird to include tbh.
Elite Dangerous probably better fits the bill.
Do stuff like DLCs, games entering and leaving Early access and port jobs count towards GOTY lists? I would probably put Towerfall Dark World and Ravenmark on my lists if so but the first is DLC for a game that originally came out last year and the second is a pc port/remaster of a game that was originally on the iOS platform many years ago.
DLCs not, but remasters (binding of isaac rebirth) and EA entering/leaving games are fair game.
