Any word on the second game? I'm really enjoying this series, never heard of it before.

Nothing beyond "2015". We probably won't get more than a week or two's notice before it's out.

As you might imagine, it's pretty similar to the two games that are already out.

• First time ever to be released overseas!
• Total of 3 'UmiharaKawase Shun' are in 1 package; UmiharaKawase Shun, UmiharaKawase Shun Second Edition, and UmiharaKawase Shun Second Edition Kanzenban!

Oh, wow, wasn't expecting them to include all three versions of the game (mostly because as far as I know there's no reason to play any but Kanzenban, lol). Still cool, though!

But while they're being extra thorough, maybe they can throw in the bonus fields from those magazine demo discs :D

When they say they're including all three versions they probably just mean this version has all the version-exclusive stages.

Umihara Kawase Shun is available now. They also added a bundle with all three games--the standard price is $30 but it'll be $24 for the next week.

Maybe someone should make an Umihara Kawase Trilogy OT or something; I think a lot of people are unaware that the other two games were even coming to PC.

Any impressions of Shun so far? As far as I understand the Kanzenban release is the best in terms of content, but it being a DS game I'm interested to see if it's worse in any way compared to the PS1 versions.

e: It just appears to be one version (Kazenban?) and it locked resolution as well, maybe Durante can fix it?

Both Shun and the three-pack have additional discounts for Black Friday; right now, Shun costs $7.19 and the three-pack is $14.99.

I'm weak. I said I wouldn't get anything during this Steam Sale, but I've always wanted to play these games. Particularly as I somehow feel nostalgic towards them. I wonder if someone I knew played the SNES one on an emulator or something in my childhood.

Gonna play them in order! I'll give some impressions later, I guess!

So, some minor thoughts on Shun:

- The resolution is locked like the other games, which means windowed or fullscreen (and that option isn't saved when you exit the game anyway)
- The game looks fine otherwise, though the dated graphics - while charming - show their age
- Still gotta bind the controls like other games if you want to use a control stick
- It's not three versions as marketed, but rather just one game that seems to include content from all games by the looks of it (except shilling fishing gear)
- I sadly don't know what's specific to each version of the game, but this version has a level progression map (it has not, however, specific detailed maps per level like the DS version did with the bottom screen)
- The menu UI is more or less identical to that of Sayonara
- The game uses lives like the SNES version, though you can earn continues in-game if you beat enough levels
- There is a replay/record function judging by the high score lists available, but I'm not entirely sure how to use it (if it even exists)
- Less randomly spawned enemies and a higher focus on platforming, basically pretty much in the middle between SNES and Sayonara
- It's more Umihara Kawase, really

It's a fun little game. This is the first time I've played these games and I sadly doubt I'll be able to finish them due to parts being were hard and bordering on aggravating, but I'm glad to have played them. I'd rank Sayonara highest due to being more polished and less focused on enemies (plus no lives), then Shun and lastly the SNES game. Shun got the best presentation, though. The surreal crayon-esque graphics fit well.

This is new thread worthy; do we know what'll happen o the Ips they own?

Umihara Kawase is still owned by the studio of one of the series creators, Studio Saizensen, I believe, so there's no reason to think the IP will die with the publisher.

Code of Princess was developed by Studio Saizensen but I think Agatsuma owns the IP. It showed up in the Steam database recently, I wonder how close they were to releasing the port...

The press release says the parent company will be liquidating Agatsuma Entertainment on March 31, so I suppose there's a chance Saizensen or some other studio might pick up anything worth salvaging.
