It should be noted that link you post was a analyst and not numbers .
An analyst from a prominent market intelligence agency.

The article suggests MOBA & DOTA are reasons of boosting PC revenue.
The article also says PC revenue surpassed console revenue. I'm not sure I understand what your saying.

And I agree with you on that point. PC and console can both thrive and both have their advantages. I was just arguing with the idea that the market prefers consoles over PC.

Very true, I think the Xbox One is one of the ugliest-looking consoles since the 3DO.

So out of the many small considerations that people make when buying a product, it doesn't have looks as one of its positives. The PS4 does. The XB1's physical design is based on a set-top box, a purpose that has now been superseded as purely and simply a games console first and foremost. MS need to redesign the thing asap.
Thats a matter of opinion. I'm not a big fan of the PS4 looks or the internal power supply. I do prefer the look of my Xbox Ones over my PS4.

While I agree the look is personal (I think PS4 is sexy... Xbone too big and ugly) the internal power supply is better than external... MS messed in this part of Xbone.

I prefer an external power supply. It's easier to replace if it's external. External is better than internal for most devices. Plus there is less heat to worry about when external.

I never had to replace any internal power supply... I strong disagree... external is a waste of space and way worst design.
If it is a good design you will never need to worry about power supply with internal design

BTW the heat is the same if they have the same power lol

Why is there less heat? The heat total is the same. All you added is another fan which is another point of failure.

I had a hard time trying to get a decent euro power adapter when I moved to Norway but all i did with the ps4 was get a new cable. my external for the xbox one is a massive beast. Spin it all you like but the external one is garbage.

For the US numbers, yes, the data includes up until November 28.

Speaking of which, it would be fascinating to see how many sales transferred over to the December NPD from Black Friday weekend (Sunday-Monday) for both consoles.

The 360 power supply was a beast. I wish I had more of them. Great for all kinds of projects. :-D

Hi NeoGAF forums.

Cumulative lifetime-to-date physical software tie-ratios for the Microsoft Xbox One (4.8) were above those of the Sony PlayStation 4 (4.7) as of the November 2015 U.S. Games Industry Report from The NPD Group.

Please note that this was due to the sales of the Xbox One exclusive 'Halo 5.'

As i said the article is from a analyst and he is not using any real figures .
Also he being from a prominent market intelligence agency don't mean anything
DFC Intelligence are the same people that say both X1 and PS4 going to hit 100 million consoles sold lol .
Show me some figures for last year .

EDIT need to read better .

So,

Phase 1 - NDC for Black Friday movement
Phase 2 - SWBF for Star Wars movie hype movement
Phase 3 - CoD bundle for general Christmas/end of year movement

Sony came more than prepared this time around.

Solid for both.

That is a good info.

PS4 ~51.3m
Xbone ~47.0m

Looks like Halo 5 did make Xbone be ahead PS4 in terms of tie-ratio... that will change after Uncharted 4 I guess.

I couldn't agree with you less. The Xbox One has an external power supply the size of a Wii, with its own light and fan. It's a terrible design.

I'm still confused as to what this entire discussion is about. The PC market is large but it doesn't dominate the majority of genres. The few it does are massive (League, DOTA, WoW, other F2P titles). But the massive revenue from those somehow doesn't invalidate that the vast majority of games sell more on consoles.

That was so that they could talk about the PS4 and PC versions before the games release on MS consoles and release the PC version in Q1.

's what i heard :)

...what?

Thats... so dumb. They pretty much killed sales effectively then.

That was stupid .

That was always my point .
That consoles are bigger for certain type of games \ genres .
The same way for mobile and PC .

You get a lot of rationalizing for bad features of heavily marketed products. That's why in some circles it may appear there's a consensus otherwise, but internal is better all the time. Actually also due to heat and weight. Because if a PSU generates enough heat to warrant cooling, you can integrate it with the primary cooling system of the device.

It's quieter, cheaper and less failure prone to spin an already existing big fan 10% faster (or make an equivalent improvement to the heatsink) than to have a second, smaller one.

There used to be regulations a decade+ ago where certain device setups could not have AC voltage running into the chassis, thus presenting further reasons to go with external power bricks. But this is not the case now. The only reason this is still ongoing is that Microsoft doesn't do holistic device design. Whenever there's a semi-standard part they can acquire discretely, they go for that.

Wait, does this mean the PC version was brought forward from Q2 to Q1?

I'm just reading back, he didn't explicitly say this, just it was renegotiated so they could talk about other versions pre release, because they wanted to build other platforms anticipation, and SE didn't mind the longer PS4 exclusivity as they wouldn't be releasing around UC4, so PC versions could have always been planned for then,

For sure, you'd definitely expect some sort of growth. But at the very least, matching the prior version should be the start. Not a 50% decline on that basis alone.

But I don't know about SE not signing the deal. By all accounts and details of the deal we do have, after the UC4 delay, SE actually agreed to increase the timed exclusivity period from 6 months for the PS4 version to 1 year.

I mean... god, that's dumb.

How fucking idiotic do they have to be?

Can't wait for Uncharted 4 GOTY including single player expansion next holidays to see S-E scared of the game for the third time.

That's what they had to do to announce it before the game was even out? Jesus christ lol

Yup, looks like in the initial agreement they couldn't even talk about the other versions of the game before the Xbox release.

SE wanted to talk PS4/PC versions, after the lackluster reception/pre orders of ROTR, to try and at least build some anticipation for the other versions, hence renegotiation, and delaying the PS4 version was the cost. My guy said SE didn't mind this as the delay meant it avoided UC4's release.

So both lower .
Wonder how much DD and things PS+ effect things .

Well, here are the comparable # of games released for each platform:

PS4 Release Count (as of Sept 2015) - 156
PS3 Release Count through Dec 2008 - 225

Xbox One Release Count (as of Sept 2015) - 129
Xbox 360 Release Count through Dec 2007 - 217

Wii U Release Count (as of Sept 2015) - 120
Wii Release Count through Dec 2008 - 458

Decline in tie ratio due to a number of factors, one of them being far fewer choice.

(Yeah, September vs full year is not fully apples:apples and the new gen release count will be higher. But I only do my release count analysis once a quarter so look at it as directional. I'll do a deeper release count look and post it in January.)

Up to November or the end of the year? Pretty tired so I just want to make sure.

End of year.
