Gran Turismo Sport announced

... because third parties and great diversity of games IS PlayStation. They still have exclusive bits of content, exclusive first party games and console exclusive or time limited third party games coming over the next year, but it is important that special new conferences like PlayStation experience keep pushing not what gaming on PlayStation is about and has been about since the PS1. Sony has always used its first party developers to push boundaries and increase the system appeals rather than pure blockbusters meant to mainly drive revenue in and of themselves although they managed to get that too :).

There is GDC, there is E3, there is PGW... you cannot expect lots of super huge AAA exclusive titles at each conference all in the span of a year. Adding PS Experience and giving third parties the spotlight, especially giving plenty of time to smaller titles and/or smaller publishers and focus on game experience diversity is a stroke of genius IMHO.

Shu just confirmed he views PSX as a lesser show than PGW, so I guess that explains the lack of a focus on first party games.

I guess it looked okay. I'm not sure why but it doesn't really blow my mind like the one on the PS2 did. I remember thinking that one looks real. Hopefully, the final release looks better. This one looks like a higher resolution version of the last game.

I've sort of lost interest with the series due to the terrible AI, but VR could be cool. If it is not 60FPS, it is not for me.

I guess Im the crazy here... but I like what I saw on that video.

Im glad that finally PD upgraded the audio for their GT games too.

I skipped 6 after barely playing 5. I miss Gran Turismo though. I could probably find 6 for a song to tide me over until this comes out.

GT Sport is GT6 PS4.

The exact same rock hard tyres and the exact same clipping issues, they ain't fooling me.

If the game doesn't have bikes and Isle of Man in at launch I won't be bothering with it.

Oh visuals? Well it's only small footage so it's hard to tell. Everything after 1:22 mark is GT6.

Yeah, there's a 'flatness' to the gifs that looked underwhelming, but that's probably due to the lighting in that particular scene. Was (and still am) expecting lighting to surpass pCARS, which has spoiled me recently. But yeah, two short gifs and very early stages, so no need to panic.

I know graphics aren't everything, but it just looks sterile compared to Forza. Maybe it's the lighting.

Let's hope their physics, car interiors, AI, and sounds compete with the other racers on today's market.

I kinda understand what you mean by flatness... especially with first gif.
Hopefully we get some longer trailer soon.

Is that second pic GT, because if so they've modelled the little bits of fluff from elbow clothing you get along the window flaps where the glass enters/exits the door and if so my mind if fucking blown wide open and there are brains and head giblets on the ceiling.

Take a wild guess.

Second picture is real life.

Seems to me that the FIA thingy will be just another sticker on the cover, as Top Gear and Nascar once were. How, and more to the point, why will a motorsport sanctioning body will make rules for laser driven cars and whatnot?

This obsession about fictional cars that nobody cares about is going to kill the game for me. Enough with it already. Give us real cars, racing machines, things you really want to drive.

The winner of the competition is going to appear at FIA's year end ceremony to receive the trophy. So their involvement isn't minor. We also know that PD's been hiring people to implement specific racing rules for different driving categories.

Ah, I thought the top pic was GT5/6 and the bottom pic was GTs/7.

I think the top pic looks fantastic, if it's in game and not some forzavista-like thing with poly-count up 400% compared to in-game or whatever.

What I'm not happy with, is how the paint looks and reflects light in the videos so far, ...but then I don't really care about graphics in a GT game. What they need to improve is sound and wheel FFB and I bet PD knows that those are due.

Worst thing that could happen is that Sony is not happy with the graphics and forces PD to improve them and we'll up with 30fps or massive frame drops. Need for Playstation VR will save us from that probably though.

They say their partnership is supposed to usher in the next 100 years of racing, with the FIA having overseen the first 100 on their own.

I think "ranked online" GT Sport is effectively going to become the minor leagues for the FIA over the years to come. Polyphony have done an excellent job of grooming legitimate racing drivers in GT Academy. These guys go on to be recruited by real racing teams, and participate in FIA-sanctioned events, so you can bet the FIA has taken notice.

Further, motorsports has come under a lot of fire in recent years for being prohibitively expensive, harmful to the environment, and a generally "decadent" sport. So by shifting all of the minor league action to virtual racing, you greatly reduce all of those concerns, and free up resources to be used on the top-end competitions that draw the biggest crowds.

So certainly not when the beta launches in the spring, but over the next 100 years, I think you'll start seeing the lower brackets officially shifted to virtual competition. Come to think of it, this will start happening more or less immediately, because those who win the GT tournaments will be awarded bona fide trophies by the FIA. That's your minor-minor league right there. You can bet the top competitors will be offered rides by the "physical teams." So there you go; this is an official, FIA-sanctioned competition designed to discover and recruit new talent.

This also should improve competitive online play in general, because as you move up the ranks, your races are likely to be overseen by actual, FIA-trained track marshals instead of some stupid robot.

What you will also see: 200kg cars with 300hp with zero safety measures that go into pressured suit g-force-territory, but run by AI and/or remote-controlled by real drivers. 2016 will have an AI league taking place before Formula E events and DARPA had driverless AI racing challenges before.

Forza??

Why Forza Motorsport must appear in every GT thread?

They aren't competing each other, they are in two separate ecosystem, they never crossed in the pc market, why i should care whatever Forza does or is when is locked out on another console?

Finally we have a game that is competing on playstation, PCars, and another one is coming: Assetto Corsa, and those will be used to judge GT graphic and physic.

Finally a lot of the Poliphony Digital shortcomings and, why not ,excellences will be exposed for them and for the market on playstation, I am very excited, as a sim lover, to finally have this situation on the platform i use to play on.

They look so real (specially the last pic) but they have GT logo. maybe they are GTS car models on real locations?
Pics are from Jordan & Dionisiy - GTPlanet

These don't look to be from the game. It's just real pictures. I'm thinking the cars may have been shopped onto the real locations.
