Leaked Tom Clancy's The Division Closed Alpha Gameplay (Xbox One)

Their interpretation of Manhattan looks pretty well done, as someone who lives in the boroughs.

Except in Watch Dogs there was most definitely a tangible difference in graphical fidelity from the reveal to release.

I was talking about actual release copy of the game.. Watch dogs is weird because its not graphically consistent for lack of better terms.

Watch dogs in the suburban area and Watch dogs in the city at night especially when its raining are almost two completely different games in terms of looks.

How many PC ports have significantly more assets than their console counterparts, instead of simply higher quality ones?

Gameplay/movement looks like it's straight out of the PS2 era.
It's hard to see anything interesting in this game - there's nothing that distinguishes it from other 3rd person shooters.

Been cautiously looking forward to this for a while. I'm totally down for something Destiny-adjacent that offers more customization and variety, though I can't say I have much faith in Ubisoft to create a well supported, well balanced online ecosystem around The Division that doesn't look to fuck gamers in the ass with the long dick of e-capitalism at every turn.

I think most of us that were in the alpha aren't interested in breaking the NDA, but anyone that plays this game and doesn't think it looks quite close to the initial reveal...I question their eyes. It's a VERY good looking game. And yeah, comparing melting snow to fully snowed in is going to make the mostly white mostly foggy snow screenshot look bad, who'da thunk it.

The shooting looks a bit loose, it doesn't feel accurate or impactful, not liking the combination of snap on cover system but without the ability to jump or get vertical, should have allowed crouch based movement and proximity cover so the player can stay low while moving slowly from cover to cover.

Need to see the button layout to get a better idea.

You can climb and get vertical.
And I think when you hold A to move from cover to cover you stay crouched.

Well, it seemed most of us that were playing it and posting in the alpha thread really liked it. It's damn good and I can't wait for March.

Nah it looks rough as hell. Reminds me of the F2P Defiance MMO.

No, really, he isn't wrong. It shares some similar beats to Defiance, and that's not a compliment.

That's really all I can still say without breaking the NDA, but there is definitely some good and interesting stuff, but also a lot of bad. I'd say it sways to the latter abit, but the potential is definitely there with some polish and tweaking.

It's not visually arresting but I enjoyed the alpha quite a bit. it's a bit rough in some areas (why do enemies take so many rounds before they die?) as expected in an alpha. I enjoyed the plot/premise and look forward to the beta.

You need better weapons, just like in any RPG. It isn't meant to be realistic like Call of Duty or Battlefield.

Wait, what?

This game ditched the online-only requirement? When did that happen?
I don't think that's right? I'm pretty sure The Dark Zone is the only area where you can go after other players, but the game is still always online outside of that. Unless I'm completely wrong here.

It was never confirmed whether or not it was online only or not
Uhhh...

Alain Corre of Ubisoft Europe said:
"The Division will be always-online, because this is how the game is designed. It's a world that's always on and always living. The fact you're always-online is a must. It's the same for The Crew. You can join your friends or not, but something is happening in this world all the time."
(Eurogamer)

That was from 2013. It was always described as an online-only game.

The
fuck
he is.

I played defiance for at least 20 plus hours, and was in the alpha (after it was turned back on for that day) for the division as well.

They play nothing alike, they look nothing alike, they sound nothing alike. The only thing you could maybe compare it to is how the groups of enemies are engaged but even then the similarities are slight.

the AI seemed quite bad

the guys character looks like tuvok

AI is great really imo. They move arround alot. Lots of flanking, move back when they are wounded. Throw grenades if you stay to long at one spot. Some even rush with baseball bats.

thats what I saw a guy charge with a baseball bat then just stand next to the guy...

the game is pretty much gears of destiny by the looks of it. The missions actually look better than destiny and last for more than 4 minutes.

I fully expect to see you in every Cyberpunk thread

I don't see CDPR making the same mistake twice, which is to say that Cyberpunk isn't going to be unveiled until CDPR is certain that what people will see is what they'll get (PC/console differences aside).

Is that true?

I'd kind of expect that for PS+ but Gold has always been more restrictive hasn't it? Can you play Destiny (sans strikes, crucible, etc) on Xbox without Gold?

I read somwhere it didnt. Just for some content like Destiny has.

Edit:

Xbox One and PlayStation®4 system owners will not need an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation®Plus membership to access and play the beta. However, there are some game modes that require such accounts. More details on this will be released in the future.

For the beta. So i guess also for the full game. So darkzone needs live etc. Wich isnt a surprise.

What a clusterfuck of a HUD. There's way too much extraneous crap on screen. What is up with Ubisoft and their unnecessarily cluttered UI design? I feel like damn near every game they release would be massively improved by eliminating half of their HUD elements. It's just about the only thing that's unappealing about For Honor so far.
What?

The HUD is gorgeous, best part about how this game looks.

how will they do with raids and bosses? in a fantasy setting you can have anything, but when using humans, you can only do so much.

I've played it only for sth like 1 hour, but even though the downgrade is real and no melee was driving me crazy... this game has something that keeps me interested. I'm really looking forward to it.

EDIT: It was before the alpha, glad melee is changed now :)
