Star Wars Battlefront will not receive any Episode VII DLC

There are already various Star Wars games based on TFA or TFA era content. Why wouldn't Battlefront be allowed?
Perhaps something to do with how they create the in-game models through scanning the props?

I'm sure they want the quality of that aspect of the title to remain consistent.

Both, most likey. Battlefield 5 is set for Fall 16, and Battlefront 2 is probably already in very early preproduction for a Fall 18 release.
Probably sooner.
Episode VIII will be released in theaters on May 2017, so November 2017 for Battlefront II wouldn't be impossible and 2 years after this Battlefront (which is the average for EA sequels...not named Madden).

they're gonna milk it for the sequels

"there's more content with this one! it's improved, see?"

*leaves out space battles and sells them as dlc*

Well there goes my interest.
Had a lot of fun playing this game and was really interested in the season pass even with the ridiculous price.
But no prequel characters and now confirmation no episode 7 characters i'm out.

I was sure this was the reason why they were holding out information but wow talk about missing the perfect timing to release episode 7 dlc.
Last game i buy from EA.

What games, and did these games start production in 2013 before filming had even started?

They were going to release this in the summer to match TFA before the delay, why wouldn't they put in TFA content if they were able? Doesn't make any sense, Ea clearly wanted Synergy, the offender has to be Disney. You could argue time was the culprit, but why not add the characters after the fact? It doesn't make sense. OT is really hurting for Jedi/Sith.

Maybe this was deliberate, and the plan is for Battlefront 2 to be 100% NT. Idk.

@DICE_FireWall's Tweet: When asked if he was moving to the new Battlefield
nope. I'm the lead designer for the team working on Battlefront going forward. Lots of things we'd like to add and fix
DICE may not be the most quickest, but they're probably one of the most persistent at improving their game.

I don't think so. Dice LA is rumored to be starting production on a game. I think that will release in 2017. The Star Wars game that year will be Viscerals in Spring next to Ep8. Something bigger will release next to Epi 9, hopefully. 3 games, 3 movies, no repeats, but that might just be wishful thinking.

It's a shame that Battlefront won't get some of Episode VII's iconic vehicles like

Walk by the toyshelf at a store; you will see a whole bunch of new vehicles that I wish I could play in the game, like Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle, the First Order Snowspeeder, the Assault Walker, the First Order Transporter, and the two-seat TIE Fighter. With the exception of the TIE, those vehicles were only in the background of the movie; but it would have been great to use them in a full blown Conquest map set in Starkiller Base.

Is this really a issue? Sure the new movie is great but I like the fact that they focus on the original movies. Give me the prequels in the next game and the new movies in a third installment.

If they wanted it to be OT only, why did they give the Emperor a screw attack from Revenge of the Sith

Just like they gave Slave One the sound effects from Attack of the Clones. It's either use content from the Prequels or literally have nothing since we barely saw them in the OT.

I'm ok with this.

Battlefront is barebones as fuck and only worth, perhaps, $20 in its released form... but its not for a lack of OT source canon to draw from. It's just sheer laziness/greed on the part of the devs/pubs.

Makes sense, as Disney has been doing a remarkable job of ignoring the existence of the prequels, and Battlefront 2 will likely focus on EP VII and VIII. I do wonderer what they are going to do for four expansions. They have Bespin and the Death Star left, and that is about it. It is possible that they could pull from Rogue One though, as that is in the OT era.

Its well worth $60. Hell, any game that lasts me more than 20 hours is worth $60.

Content != worth. Hours of enjoyment == worth.

I can only laugh at the haters of this wonderful game. It has its issues but man if it isn't a breath of fresh air.

Not even First Order Stormtrooper/Resistance pilot skins or something?

Wow, lame.

The fact that they didn't include the clones/trade federation era was a bummer already.

Literally every Battlefront thread. Content to value ratio is a real thing, sorry to inform you. It happened to Splatoon on launch day and its happening to this game now.

My hype from VII was having me teetering on picking up Battlefront, but this sort of confirms I won't get it unless it's dirt cheap. (I didn't particularly care for it too much in Beta or the EA Access trial)

Huge missed opportunity.

It's not even just EA/Battlefront. Them, Marvel, and anyone else with a hand in the franchise should be knocking down the front doors at LucasFilm so they can start using the new characters from VII. They're a HUGE success and this is just the first movie.

Really dissapponting that it's sticking to the OT. As much as the prequel films were dissapponting the factions and locales still created some good set pieces and characters for the games.

Ep 7 being ignored I can live with simply because it's not complete yet but then again Battlefield was having addons years after release, this cleary looks like a case of buy the new game when it's out.

What are the chances we'll actually get a prequel Battlefront spin off ala hardline before we get a ep 7,8,9 game?

Is it ONLY the original trilogy or only the original TIMELINE because the serial killer C3P0 from the recent Vader comics would be fucking rad as hell

Was really expecting the new heroes and villains in the season pass to be from VII.

Would definitely have paid to play as Kylo Ren or Finn with a light saber
They're saving that for a game worth their inclusion. Something like a dedicated action game starring Jedi protagonists with combat mechanics by Platinum.

The worst part about this ordeal is EA/DICE was clearly banking on people buying it because of TFA. They advertised DLC before release as being related to Episode 7 (Jakku) and the game came out a month before a new Star Wars movie.

The content in this so far in is disappointing, moreso than I thought it would be when I first had my hands on it.

I legitimately am thinking about just buying BF2 right now for the steam sale.

Battlefront 2 is very much worth $2.99. Still very active. You'll need GameRanger to play online, though.

Am I nuts or did they not advertise a DLC coming for the first desert planet in Ep VII? Did that get scrapped or do they just mean 'no more after that' ?

Not a big deal to me just curious.

Wouldn't it be nice if these games actually aimed to sell you a complete experience?

I was going to wait for the inevitable "goty" edition, but if they're cutting things from their season pass for a completely separate game, I'll wait for that one's GOTY instead.

Too bad they don't even have prequel stuff.:/ Think I just check out Battlefront 2 again for now even if it might not have a large community now.XD

It was a free 2-map update that came out a few weeks ago. "Battle of Jakku", and it really has nothing to do with VII's characters or story, it's literally just showing the battle which took place there which crashed all those ships. It still uses all the OT models and ships.

Best is the characters.

Good ol' Vader fighting in the Battle of Jakku.
