Steam security issue revealed personal info to other users on XMas Day (fixed)

What the fuck is going on. Just removed my CC from my account.

I bought something earlier today at 1:40PM EST. Am I compromised now?

I'm getting new users all the time. Steam should shut down the complete service. This is way too serious

So just like, exit the Steam client? Cos that's what I just did.

I went to try to see if I had this problem: Going to the store showed some random avatar with 1 wishlist item, couldn't access Account Details at all and Steam Community is down from my end.

Uh I think I removed this random account's card info thinking it was mine... I think I only had my paypal associated to it tho and I just removed whatever cards were linked to that.

"Oh I know I'll go tweet @Steam Support to make sure somebody is working on this" Oh no there account hasn't posted in months. Such incompetence.

On the website I got Bullet Ball's (not his full nickname obviously) account, but I wasn't connected and too scared to even try. On the client it's was my account anyway.

Well, that explains why I was seeing prices in CDN for awhile there.

Things like this, along with making it harder for me to impulse buy, are why I never store my card information in Steam.

Now I'm getting an entirely different account than before and I can see this guy's info thoroughly.

This is REALLY absurd.

Well, everyone's account I am looking at has Stream Guard enabled. So they have that going for them, which is nice.

Managed to delete my card details leaving only Paypal in the one time I was able to get to my account.

This could be a major issue for Steam going forwards, and I mean "potential destruction" big.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but you don't need to worry about purchases on your account. If you try and add something to the basket in Steam, it doesn't.

That said, they can see your e-mail and last couple of digits of your card, which is obviously a security issue.

So what should I/we do? How do you remove cards and prevent purchases on your account?

I have $47.50 in mine :/

I'd imagine if you have any purchases today, your steam wallet will be fully refundable and then some. As for credit card.... They can't get the full number or CCV from steam. I'd worry more about identity theft from the email/phone number.

Checked my paypal account and nothing has been purchased on it (last time I was in steam, paypal wasnt asking for a password as it was setup as 'my paypal account')

Have no funds in steam wallet and no cc linked. Steamguard always been enabled....hopefully this shit gets sorted. Cannot login to steam at the moment
