GAF FOTY 2015-Fail Of The Year-Results- Winner of the 2015 shit sandwich goes to...

Konami was a special kind of special.

A true example of exemplary and inexplicable insanity. Big congrats you ultimate fucktards. I'll never buy another one of your products. ;)

Astounded that anything other than Gamergate won honestly. Hugely embarassing and shed even more light on the darker side of gaming culture when it comes to women.

Konami went from massive highs with PT and Ground Zeroes to massive lows.

It was just too big of a shift to be ignored.

I'm in the same boat. Enjoyed it well enough for a mere $10. If I had bought it for the full $60 when it came out though, I would have been tempted to vote for it.

Same here; it was an alright game for ten bucks and honestly I just look at it as a benchmark. I paid five bucks for Crysis 3 and I've tested out multiple configurations with that bench * cough video game software. I paid twenty bucks for 3D Mark back in the day and I never minded the purchase. The Order was worth ten bucks just to gaze out what the PS4, (or any piece of hardware when the developers have enough motivation), was really capable of when put through the paces by talented developers, and if you look at it like a benchmark purchase the prices was totally fair.

the votes are not weighted in any way

Hmm, that doesn't seem like an ideal format for this imo. I think it'd be better if it was weighted similar to GOTY voting. To avoid Tony Hawks 5 like situations, something which got tonnes of mentions but isn't even on the list because no one actually put it at the top of theirs.

Like many others have said, Steam caching was a pretty big fail, but happened after the vote so it wasn't eligible. I still think it takes a second seat to Konami though.

"Hey guys, 30-ish years of good franchises, and strong rapport? Yeah fuck it, pachinko slot machines for everyone!"

Alot of us don't care nor still don't know what fuck it is. The failure of Gamergate is the shitty message its trying to get across. People can explain it to me and i still won't give a shit.

I really don't think a single day without steam would make into top3 considering who are the top3 here.

This year it became much less visible than last year ... at least now there is no doubt that nothing good can come from that, so no more "normal" game sites liking it and stuffs like that. Still .. top3 =P

What? You don't know what it is...but then you say you won't give a shit if someone can explain it to you? You come across as super upset about something you don't understand for some reason.

EDIT: completely forgot Gamergate was last year...that explains it. For some reason its still fresh in my mind.

Will consider this for next year, and have been for a while but for GOTY its easy because most people have played 5-10 great games. But what if there aren't 10 fails in 2016?(unlikely) or what if people only list 1-2 fails because they don't follow video game news?

I didn't find out about gamergate until Nov of last year, and I believe the heated discussion took place in the summer. I still don't get what people for gamergate are fighting for. I mean strong female characters are very much a part of gaming whether you look at RE2, RE3, Parasite Eve games, Dino Crisis, Fear Effect games, Silent Hill 3 etc. It's only now AAA production games tend to have your generic white male character. I'd love for gaming to have strong female characters like the good ol days. Which alternate past are the folks for gamergate remembering exactly? Because if they want gaming to be like the yesteryears then they should welcome the voices of women in the industry.

The hilarious part of Gamergate loosing to Konami is that KONAMI LITERALY "took away our games", not indie dev girls xD

Konami were dicks but really we don't know the whole story and emotion is getting the better of gaf. They still payed to get MGSV made and could have very easily cancelled the game.
The beauty of this is that while one can admit this is true, they can still go with Konami because they really don't have anything else on the pipeline so their entire collapse as a relevant core game developer (not even just AAA stuff) is worthy of a vote.

The issue with Steam wasn't with it being down for most of a day, it was the exposure of people's personal information.

It also happened so late that I don't think it got a single vote. Probably best to lump it with next year, we'll see the potential fallout then.

Some eye rolling picks in there, but the winner was the one that deserved it most, no question.

Valve dodged a bullet by how late their fail occurred though :p

I don't know, in terms of not entertainment bad things, Konami fired a lot of people, between Kojima productions LA and the original. Punishment for making a profitable game.

Even after the whole Steam fiasco I still think Konami would've won by a landslide even if said Steam thing happened earlier in the year.

Silent Hills shouldn't be there, as it's covered by "Konami". Either Konami's entry encompasses all of their misdeeds, or each one should be listed separately. Arbritrarily picking one out makes no sense.

I voted for GamerGate because as shitty as Konami was, I'm pretty sure they didn't threaten to rape and/or murder anyone.

But I guess that's kind of unfair. I struggle to even consider GamerGate related to gaming. It's more related to idk white supremacy or some sick shit like that.
