Microsoft announces ReCore also coming to PC, now releasing "2016"

I can't remember etta did I say he was lying? I have very selective memory that is based around a history where I was only right all the time.
Oh no, I wasn't referring to anything you specifically said, I was just joking about how every thread about Phil saying they'll start supporting the PC is full of comments like "don't believe his lies"... etc.
Unity game? So my hunch may end up being right after all and ReCore may end up a 2.5D Metroidvania?
If I remember correctly, someone tweeted that Shinobi mentioned ReCore being a third person game.
Was it you, Steve?

:( grrr.

I had never heard of this game before at all before seeing this thread so I decided to look it up. Cool looking game with some very interesting potential mechanics. Why haven't I heard of this? Doesn't seem like anyone's really talking about it....maybe it's just coincidence and I had bad luck. Stoked it's coming to PC though, screens look gorgeous so it should be a treat at 60 fps.

We haven't actually gotten any "real" screenshots yet. What you saw were screengrabs from the CG announcement trailer.

This was my post back at E3. Just a hunch.

Putting all the pieces together:

- Unity game
- No gameplay shown despite a release soon
- So quick to go PC

My suspicion was that Microsoft are basically treating ReCore like the next Ori but this time they're marketing it as if it's a AAA retail title.

Sticking to my guns. 2.5D Metroidvania. Which actually isn't a bad thing anyway.

I don't think it was that quick to go to PC. There was a GAF thread back in August where someone found a resume with both Xbox One and PC versions mentioned.

I'd venture that a PC version was in the cards from the beginning and they shelved it for some reason.

Isn't a bad thing? With some of the key talent behind Metroid Prime on board, that's awesome. If you're right this could end up being one of the best games of 2016.

They should bring Banjo-Kazooie and Rare Replay to Windows 10, it would be the first real reason to upgrade.

Hope it's on Steam rather than the Windows 10 store or whatever. No game is worth upgrading to the forced updating nightmare that is Windows 10.

I'm just saying, the way it was being spoken about/marketed (And I'm sure GAF expectations) are of a full blown 3D world AAA adventure game.

I don't think that's what it will be regardless of what they say. Once they reveal it to be 2.5D they'll say one of two things:

1) It's still 3D graphics, we never said 3D world/movement
2) We decided to change direction, we thought it was better for the project

Personally I think it's always been a 2.5D metroidvania. Again, that's fine with me. Strider and Ori have been 2 of my favourite games this gen.

Relax with the hyperbole.

They're not going to make any of their games Windows 7 or 8 compatible, not when they're trying to increase Windows 10 upgrades. All of the games they've announced for PC are Windows 10 only.

So that's yet another reason I'm glad I didn't bite on the Xbox One and upgraded my GPU instead.

COME ONNNNNNN SCALEBOUND *blows on dice*

Quantum Break and Gears 4 is basically it for me as far as exclusives go. Don't know if I'm going to pick up ReCore on PC or XB1 though.

I doubt if it will be a cross buy. But great news if it is.

According to Phil, they are still trying to figure that out. I hope that it is as I feel that's how it should be. If I buy a game, it should be tied to my acct and it shouldn't matter what platform i'm on (unless it offers a big reason why it should) to play it. No different than buying an iPhone game and being able to play it on an iPad.

That's why I hope it's cross-buy so I won't have to worry about that.

We still don't have any gameplay? Every major title, at least for early 2016, have gameplay footage available so that tells me either this is another game MS is saving for the "playoffs" or it's not coming this year at all.

Damn, only 3 actual XB1 exclusives. Hope they announce more for 2016.

Yea if crackdown turns out to be a multiplayer only game I'm selling my Xbone and saving the money for a NX. Too few exclusives. Got my gaming PC and PS4 too.

It's not. It's having it's multiplayer beta this summer. That's the only thing that was announced.

I seriously doubt it. Say what you will about Microsoft's marketing but they generally don't create trailers that are not representative of gameplay.

Semi-related but is Crackdown 3 in 2016 a MP beta? Or the real MP of the game?
I mean here's what they list
Crackdown 3 (Xbox One) – Multiplayer in Summer 2016

No mention of the word "beta" unlike Gears 4 and Fable Legends
Fable Legends Open Beta (Xbox One & Windows 10) – Spring 2016
Gears of War 4 (Xbox One) – Multiplayer Beta in Spring 2016/Launch in Fall 2016

Out this year and there is NO gameplay or even a screenshot?

I highly doubt it. Except if its a 2 hour game. Then it makes sense

These games won't be used as christmas marketing for xbox and the windows store needs stuff.

I'd use a different strategy for promoting the store. I would release all the games on windows store and steam. Then some day, fans of my games on steam can look at the windows store and see a lot of the games they already like on there. I'd focus on ways to make windows store better than steam on it's own merits to encourage users to make a choice for my store.

I'm just some guy tho. This is new microsoft. They surely know what they're doing. Unlike old microsoft.

Awesome it's coming to PC. No surprise at the subtle likely move from Spring 2016 though. You don't get to this point with a Spring release and show nothing but CG. Still, quite curious to see what it is with the talent involved and whatnot.

I don't think I've ever agreed with a post in my entire life as much as I agree with this one. That would be absolutely awesome!

I imagine that there haven't even been any hints towards that though :(

The last Rare said in response to fans asking for this was that Rare Replay would stay a Xbox One exclusive. However, I imagine if Spencer is in the mood of resurrecting/resourcing PC ports then maybe this will make it's way over after all if the demand is there.

Spencer has said he wants to get Xbox 360 games on PC, but he didn't say if it's for sure happening. If it did happen I would assume the first-party stuff would come first.

Nah, they should release their titles straight to their store and only their store. Valve did it. EA did it. For all the talk about competition being good, so many people seem stuck to Steam and refuse to give anyone else a chance.

It did have the previous engine ready. They have a previous engine ready?

Im not optimistic about this release

The game was in development for 14 months when they announced it, I think it's entirely possible for it to release 2016. Can it get delayed? Of course. But let's not act like it's not releasing 2016 when we have no facts to prove it so. Many games have gameplay shown years in advance and yet get delayed a year down the line. Whether we have seen gameplay or not doesn't determine when a game releases.

Still not sure what to expect from this in terms of scale/production values but for some reason it coming to PC tells me small scale indy-ish title.
