NCL just announced via Topics (their new-ish blog/news service) that if you link a NNID and Nintendo account (and set to receive e-mails/notifications from Nintendo) by the 24th of your birth month that you will receive an e-mail with some sort of discount(s) on content.

Starts from this month, so if you have an NNID you have until Jan 24th to register and receive the e-mail with the discounts.

This is the sort of thing I was hoping the Nintendo Accounts would lead to.

According to the blog Game Memo, the discount is 30% and applies to the following games (at least) for January:

Wii U
Splatoon
Super Mario Maker
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Yoshi's Wooly World
Mario Party 10

3DS
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer
Fire Emblem Fates
Rhythm Heaven The Best +
Girls Mode/Style Savvy 3

I wish that would be made into a permanent feature. I already buy fully digital but a birthday discount and this would be incredible for me.

Yes, for every 1,000 yen you add, you get 100 yen back via a code - however, unlike the Premium stuff, the money back does not count toward your next code. It only runs until Feb 1, too, as a bonus to early resisters to the accounts.

Yes, for every 1,000 yen you add, you get 100 yen back via a code - however, unlike the Premium stuff, the money back does not count toward your next code. It only runs until Feb 1, too, as a bonus to early resisters to the accounts.

I think I've gotten like 2K yen from that so far I think I have a problem

I think the 1st round of discounts they did was up to 40% off the digital versions of Pikmin 4, Lego City Undercover, Bayonetta 2, etc.

Pre-launch meant to bring off-device purchases to Japan. Full launch worldwide is still March. Hopefully we get concrete details soon!

As far as we know, March, along with My Nintendo and Miitomo.

Not a bad collection to be honest, and the discount is alright. I imagine the games might change every month or few months, but the 30% off will probably be constant to keep it fair. Gonna add this in to the OP.
