Star Fox Zero Delayed to Q1 2016

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
True the game still has a high chance to turn out mediocre, looking at the last Star Fox games as well, the series was never very good with the exception of 64 (and maybe Adventures for polish).

Besides they probably need a strong Q1 game anyways and im not sure what was going to fill the void, SF0 may be upgraded to a decent tech demo, at least.

Adventures? Nay.

Assault? Definitely. And that's why I'm disappointed we aren't seeing "what Assault could have been when it is given thorough love outside of multiplayer".

Don't worry. Nintendo will find something to pad out their Holiday lineup.

I don't usually say this, but thank God it got delayed. I was not feeling the footage I saw at all, and I'm probably one of the biggest Star Fox fans around. Nintendo is really floundering with its IPs lately, between this and Zelda U. I'm sure it has to do with the tepid response at e3. Miyamoto is a proponent for delaying games, what with that quote people regurgitate ad nauseam. Maybe Iwata was the one trying to push it out prematurely?

Just got back from playing it at EGX and I really liked it. It felt like a proper Starfox game again!

The motion controls do take some getting used to but I felt that way with Splatoon's motion controls and they now feel like second nature.

If the motion controls are mandatory I can see them being a problem for some in the same way the controls in Kid Icarus didn't gel for everybody so hopefully there will be an option to disable them.

The only issue I had in the whole demo was with a boss battle at the end. This forced a cinematic viewpoint on the TV meaning you had to exclusively look at the gamepad to see and steer. As this cinematic view is just an optional view in the rest of the demo it seemed odd to force it just for the boss.

Anyway, I enjoyed it and I'm now looking forward to playing it properly at home!

I believe motion controls are optional. I think it supports the pro controller, as well.

I am ok with this, I need a Star Fox game that can actually beat Star Fox 64 in both gameplay and quality.

Edit: We should wait for confirmation before making a new thread, I guess.

So its rumored to get pushed back again :(?

I wouldn't mind if it means the game gets some form of MP (online or local).

They can take as long as they want. A full extra year of development makes a lot of sense considering it did not look up to snuff around the originally scheduled date last year.

If they delay it that much, I wonder if a NX version isn't out of the question, much like what people assume will happen with Zelda U...

That would actually be good. They could swap the April release with Pokken Tournament (which is already getting released in March in Japan). And it would be nice to have an actual summer release by Nintendo for a change. But the main thing is more time to make it good so it doesn't turn out like rushed garbage, i.e. Mario Tennis/Amiibo Festival, and then we wouldn't see another Star Fox game in a decade I bet.

Nintendo really needs to get their stuff together. Even if the game is being delayed for polish, that means Wii U is only going to have Pokken Tournament to take it through the first part of the year, and I don't think there's even a date for that one.

NX or bust, Ninty...

P.S. I am thinking "bust." Releasing a new console this year feels like a tall order.

Easier said than done. They pretty much gotta get the NX out in order to stop the hemorrhaging of the Wii U hardware and lack of sales.

Today's Nintendo PR that Nibel linked to in another thread indicates an unchanged SF release date:

Finally, Star Fox Zero delivers a new beginning for the classic shooter series. With a unique control scheme that uses both the TV screen and the screen on the GamePad, players pilot multiple vehicles through intergalactic levels with Fox and his classic crew. The game launches exclusively for Wii U on April 22 and will feature amiibo compatibility. More details will be revealed at a later time.

I wouldnt even mind this released on NX.
Everything to stop Starfox from dying forever because of sales, something that is very probably going to happen if they release it on the WiiU.
And a more graphical polish and added planets wouldnt be bad either.

But it probably releases on WiiU, so I just hope for the best, I know im going to like it.

"We're excited to announce that, due to the delay of Star Fox 0, we were able to add Miiverse functionality in-game! Show off your Star Fox character stamps (unlocked with select Star Fox amiibos) with friends through Miiverse messages!"

Via Liam Robertson today on Twitter:

The decision of whether or not to release Star Fox Zero in April is apparently being discussed this Friday at NCL.
