NPD Sales Results for December 2015 [Up1: Super Mario Maker]

PlayStation 4 outsold Xbox One and Wii U in December. That makes it the best-selling system of the year by a wide margin.
PS4 - XB1 difference was ~600k by the end of November, wonder why they mean by "wide margin."

Nintendo did not have any hardware figures
Zero Wii Us sold confirmed.

What? The difference in the US was already at like 700-800K I thought going into November.

It's easily over a million now.

Fallout 4 sold more on XOne?! COD and SW had bundles and are not counted so PS4 probably won those but Fallout 4?! and that's without even counting XOne bundles.
Look at Yearly Fallout4.
Gotta be pretty close in Dec I guess.

As per BlopsIII and BF, bundles did good, as these two were pretty much all the sales of PS4 in December.

Not surprised that PS4 topped XB1. I am surprised that the XB1 is still the home of shooters. I don't think that's changing unless Sony is willing to change the controller.

I'm not surprised black opps 3 takes the cake. Really good game and the first FPS I have played in 6 years.

Uhh, I wouldn't have expected XB1 to do this well in software sales. Not like terribly worse, but this is a surprise as far as I'm concerned. Neither platform is in bad shape by any measure, holding solid with last year.

Glad CODAW held on to chart in the top 10 for 2015. I liked the MP design a lot, hopefully the numbers drown out some of the internet backlash.

Full Year:

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Activision Blizzard | Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
  2. Madden NFL 16 (Electronic Arts | PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
  3. Fallout 4 (Bethesda Softworks | PS4, Xbox One, PC)
  4. Star Wars: Battlefront (Electronic Arts | Xbox One, PS4, PC)
  5. Grand Theft Auto V (Take-Two | PS4, Xbox One) 360, PS3, PC)
  6. NBA 2K16 (Take-Two | PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
  7. Minecraft (Microsoft | 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4)
  8. FIFA 16 (Electronic Arts | PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
  9. Mortal Kombat X (Warner Bros | PS4, Xbox One)
  10. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Activision Blizzard | Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)

Isn't that super low for both FIFA and NBA 2K?

I thought those games sold an insane amount of copies.

Also, Kudos to CoD AW making it even if it was an off year for franchise sales.

Let's get this out of the way early. Software bundles don't count towards NPD software sales and the PS4 had bothe a Battlefront and Call of Duty software bundle.

These are the games I previously figured would be the top selling for 2015:
Random guess without looking at numbers, in no order:

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
2. FIFA 16
3. Madden NFL 16
4. FIFA 15
5. Star Wars Battlefront
6. Halo 5: Guardians
7. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
8. Fallout 4
9. Mortal Kombat X
10. Battlefield Hardline
6/10. Not great, but about there.

Still, it's what you'd expect from a top 10. The only "outlier" is kinda Mortal Kombat X, but even that's expected because of the brand.
