Some modes have been announced for the Wii U version of Pokkén Tournament. First is the standard Single Battle, which has three different difficulty levels. Next is the previously announced local battle where one player plays on the GamePad and another with a standard controller. During this mode, the game will run at 30fps rather than the standard 60fps. Finally is the online mode which has rankings and competitions. It also states that you can use a LAN Cable to link two Wii Us

I knew there's gonna be a catch on the whole gamepad thing, since I even believe they wouldn't be able to pull it.

also two new assists

Good that somebody was wise enough to invest in a LAN option.

Because 30fps for local otherwise would've killed it right there and then.

Also there are screenshots of the new mons (barring Chandelure) but I can't find the source for it. Anyone wanna post them?

30 FPS without 2 consoles sucks.

I hope the Magikarp assist is just a useless splash.

Riding its wand like a witch's broomstick is amazing.

Well they're bringing the full arcade experience for real then :p

Nope, this pretty much will kill local tournaments with small spaces and that intern will bigger tournament.

I reckon the actual events that will have Pokemon (i.e. Worlds) will use the arcades anyway.

I'm pretty sure Splatoon actually has LAN support.
How Splatoon handles LAN is a bit weird. You have to connect all Wii Us to a router that has internet access. From the sounds of this, Pokkén Tournament allows for a direct connection between two Wii Us.

This is what the page says

LANケーブルで2台のWii Uを接続し、60fpsで楽しめるモードもございます。

The renders all kind of look oddly ceramic. Like the way fired clay looks when it has a thin layer of glaze on it. The in-game models don't look like this as much, though.

This should be good for the competitive scene! Also, wasn't there a thread about an official wired controller coming? I could have sworn there was. Looks like they're aiming for this to have a competitive scene.

EDIT: Found the thread.

What does the LAN cable look like?

"A LAN cable"

Right, but I wanna see a pic of two mawfuckas linked up playing this or is Nintendo "making" a LAN cable specifically for this game?

LAN would mean that each Wii U has one of the USB adapters and an ethernet cable connecting the two.
