Have we gotten a trailer for this game or we have stayed at the announcement?

No trailer yet, but the website was fully launched yesterday. We will most likely get a trailer on Monday, I think.

Some screens:

By the way, it's pretty funny how Level-5 did things here.

Press: only PR with 2 screens and artworks of the bonuses;
Retailers: plenty of screenshots.

They sure know their priorities :p

For Media Create, #FE fell off the chart after the first week iirc. I believe it stayed two weeks for Famitsu.

Nvm.

The fact it reached #2 on the Wii U eShop all-time chart during Dec alone should make it a shoe-in to chart, hell I'd think 50k is selling it short.

You have to consider two things.
The first one is that Famitsu's digital estimates are this, estimates, not actual sales. They can estimate wrong (Splatoon is more than 50k units undertacked, for example).
The second one is that December Monthly ranking goes until the 27th, and Minecraft reached the second position later than that day.

Is any of the PS4 release expected to make a strong debut (e.g. >100k)

The PS4 version of Yakuza: Kiwami may get 100+ points on the COMG thingy so a 100K+ launch wouldn't be surprising. Never mind what the PS3 version adds to it.

YSO predictions

Week 3, 2016 (Jan 18 - Jan 24)

01. [PS4] Yakuza: Kiwami < 110k (average 105k)
02. [PS3] Yakuza: Kiwami < 80k (average 75k)
03. [3DS] Hyrule Warriors Legends < 65k (average 55k)

That would be the worst result ever for an yearly Yakuza release. Of course it's not a mainline chapter nor a spin-off but a remake, so its sales are poised to be lower than usual. I wonder how much Kiwami differentiates itself from the original game and what are the incentives to buy it.

I completely forgot Kiwami was being released this soon.
I didn't expect a lot more FW but still a bit more than that. It's a remake though, might sell better over the rest of the year.

You can't keep releasing similar games indefinitely without notable investment in differentiating them.

Similarly, for the other franchise on the list, Koei is eventually going to run out of new popular IPs they can jump between given how Musou sequels normally go.

Thanks. What are your expectations for the game?
As you stated before, 500k LTD are likely to happen. What I wonder the most is if Yo-Kai Watch 3 will really be released in the Summer, mostly because Busters and Sangokushi could sell quite well during that time (at least Busters is having amazing legs), and Level-5 could let the third part for the holiday season in December. Going more into numbers, I expect between 250k and 300k FW, and 450k or 500k LTD.
01. [PS4] Yakuza: Kiwami < 110k (average 105k)
Quite well for the PS4 version alone.

Isn't Selling 100k (185k for birth version) for a remake impressive when mainline normally sells ~400k fw?

Do we know what are Sega expectation for a remake?

Yakuza 1 opened at 130k. Black Panther 2 opened at 95k and Kenzan at 178k. All Famitsu numbers.

psvita is at 4 million.

So has the psvita only been selling this well for the last 1.5 to 2 years? Because Ive seen the charts for Vita in Japan for awhile, and that seems like an awful low number for something that seems to have been consistently selling 2nd to the 3DS in hardware. I guess the Vita must have flopped at first then picked up only recently, but if anyone could clarify.

Vita sales have been consistent throughout the years, selling about 1m per year on average.

Vita has been a very, VERY distant second of the 3DS, so "selling 2nd to the 3DS in hardware" doesn't really mean anything, not to mention that it sales have actually decreased from the last 1.5 to 2 years.

Well the Vita came out in 2o11 in Japan. So I mean what Im asking is, has it only been selling this well within the recent couvle years, because its 2o16 now and its at 4 million. But the last several Media threads have the ps vita selling above all the others outside the 3DS, outside some ps4 spikes.

No, Vita sales have decreased this last couple of years, in 2014 it sold less than in 2013 and in 2015 it sold less than in 2014, and I also said Vita has been a second to the 3DS in weekly sales, but a very, VERY distant one. Say in 2013 (Vita's peak year) the system was averaging 23k per week, the 3DS was averaging 94k.

The two have gotten much closer in weekly sales, yes, but that's because sales of the 3DS are declining, not really because of the Vita's are rising.

Oh ok, so your saying the Vita sales are mostly frontloaded.

Oh ok, so your saying the Vita sales are mostly frontloaded.

You can check the op for historic data, but generally the vita has sold around 1 million per year and has declined slightly each year after 2013. Also, yes only reason why 3ds sales were even slightly comparable to vita is because 3ds has declined more, but it is also a year older.

Ok that makes sense. The weekly sales were throwing me off, thanks.

I think this series is pretty static all in all in its audience (kind of like MGS), with some highs and some lows. Citing Chris' numbers, here is the most recent release:

[PS4] Yakuza: Ishin! {2014.02.22} (¥8,600) - 73,086 / 129,536
[PS3] Yakuza: Ishin! {2014.02.22} (¥8,600) - 142,811 / 255,601

[PS3] Yakuza: Dead Souls {2011.06.09} (¥7,980) - 307,592 / 417,504

Seems pretty consistent if anything, though we'll open lower than Dead Souls. A remake of a 2005 game is fairly close to a new release game or on the level of a spin-off, so I think saying "oh its just a remake" is a bit superfluous of a term in this case since its not just a remaster but a remake (unless I am mistaken).

The audience has simply moved from PS3 to PS4, but it doesn't seem to be growing.

I have no idea how it (Kiwami) will end up selling. Its kinda the first remake the serie has seen (theres also the HD release), or the 3rd version of the same game. I just wanted to give the numbers regarding it being the lowest number or not if the YSO prediction turns out to match the actual sales =)

That seems pretty good for Yakuza. 250k LTD
Yakuza 0 is probably at 400k, which was less than what the series usually does on PS3 (550-600k). Interesting to see if Yakuza 6 will bring the series back to that range and its also the first PS4 exclusive.

I was just adding some numbers. I think the audience is fairly static for the series, though it saw a decline with Y0.
