I need that lighthouse today and I really want whatever set has the wheelchair. When? When? When? Take my money!

I need the light house too and I have the last one!
That googly eye on the brick built whale has to go though.. Other than that hes perfect!

As much as i anticipated the new Lighthouse, i can't help but feel a tiny bit disappointed... Surprised at all the positive feedbacks on here. I mean, it looks ok BUT, imo the last Creator Lighthouse, as well as the Scooby one have this one beat quite clearly in terms of pure looks! They just look "fuller" and more well rounded somehow.

I'm shamelessy gonna plug my cousin's design for a Ducktales LEGO set here. Hope that's fine for all of you. If not, I will delete it :)

It looks small enough to actually pass too. And if it happens, maybe LEGO will make some bills to actually attach to the figures faces.

I think with LEGO Ideas submissions LEGO doesn't create any new moulds. (Compare the Venkman hair from the Ghostbusters LEGO Ideas set and the one for the LEGO Dimensions set.)

I recently picked up '8088 ARC-170 Starfighter' as a reward to myself for closing a big sale at work. I, like many other in this thread, have recently had my interest in Lego rekindled by Star Wars. That said, I was personally disappointed by the limited number of new vehicles featured in The Force Awakens, so I have been feeding my hunger by acquiring favorite ships from other parts of the saga.

I am a longtime fan of the ARC-170, and 8088 is a fantastic set.

Anyone know if you can buy these clear "stand" pieces separately on Pick-A-Brick? Not sure how to go about searching for them, but I'd like to get some for my Poe's X-Wing Set to display it a little better!

Wow I just realized the batman tumbler has been sold out.... Do you guys think there is any chance to get this at cost at some other retailer? Didn't expect them to retire it so quickly...

I'm a victim of marketing again... I couldn't decide whether I was interested in Milano (I wouldn't, but enthusiasm of a couple people here is hard to ignore). I saw it at cost this afternoon, so I jumped in, just in case I would regret it later...

Which stand pieces exactly?

Prequels are included in "Classic" -- looks like Revenge of the Sith Anakin in lower left and Obi-Wan top right (oh and a clone trooper beneath them).

It's the cover art from Lego Star Wars-The Complete Saga.
The designer of the UCS Slave 1 was posting on Eurobricks and was hinting that there wouldn't be much prequel stuff from now on.

They had actually been recomened to me by SiegfriedFM in this thread a few weeks ago. Here's his post with a link to the specific item on bricklink. I bought like 12 of them to use for my current and future ships. Totally worth it.
http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=87614&idColor=12#T=C&C=12

A US seller has a ton of them for nearly nothing.

Compared to acrylic risers, they have the benefit that you can connect them to a plate to secure your ships.
I'll add that SillyEskimo recommended acrylic risers as an alternate solution, but I preferred the actual Lego pieces.

Clear, acrylic risers. You can get 3 for 10$ and they look better than lego built stands. No fuss either.

I got mine on amazon after seeing a fellow gaffer's lego ships displayed on them. I'm buying more too.

Awesome, thanks!!

It was pre-order only at EB. You can try calling around and see if a location nearby has extras and is willing to give you one with the purchase of the game.

I lucked out today and found an EB that gave me a few with the purchase of the PS4 version. Crisis averted!

Oh cool, double VIP early in March? I've been out of collecting Lego for a long while and am just now starting to think of getting back to buying some sets, so came in here to look for opinions on where people think the Brick Bank rates among the modulars. Was going to buy Detective Office this coming month, but guess I may wait until March and just get it and the Brick Bank together.

...Of course I have no space for more modulars on the shelf where I have my current setup of four buildings (Fire Brigade, Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, and Parisian Restaurant). Think if I move them to my coffee table though and get another corner building (the Brick Bank) I could fit around 8-10 sets total leaving room open for the future. But then I have to move the sets that are already there...

I have ideas of how to fit in more sets, but I'm about at the point where I'll have to put some away to fit more in!

I don't buy the prequel sets (I have no connection to them) so I'd be more than happy for them to focus on the OT and new movies.

Firehouse HQ and bank for me. Still on the fence about Batcave.

BAM! POW! ZAP! Get off the fence. I'm positive its going to be one of those sets that look better in person and will feel special and fun. I'm already clearing off a big spot to set it up with all my Bat vehicles parked in it.

I'm going to wait till double VIP in march for it though but i'm jonesing really bad for GB HQ and need to order some CMF's first week in feb before they sell out. I don't want to pad an order out with sets I can wait on so I think i'm going to go ahead and get the GB HQ next week.

picked up 13 of the new series 15 minifigs and they seem to be a lot better than the past few sets. Lots of figs with small detailed arm printing. Need to go hunt for the remaining three tomorrow. :D

Every time I start to work on a moc I realise my secret shame: I'm actually shit at lego.

I'm a "by the instructions" builder. Building with LEGO is my zen time, and is a great source of stress-relief and "re-filling the well" for me. It a very similar feeling to when I do yard work. The several times I have attempted to build outside the lines and make a MOC, I started getting stressed, which is the opposite of what I am seeking.

So I build by the instructions, and that's cool because there is so many great sets to build.

As much as I hate doing the dishes, cleaning them and straightening the kitchen is kinda zen time for me.

Two posts in a row, literally outlining exactly what my zen time looks like. Cleaning the kitchen, cutting the grass / cleaning the pool & building LEGO by the instructions. "Refilling the well" is a great way of putting it.

I also enjoy sorting LEGO to put it into the collective. It's funny, because I rarely build my own stuff but I really enjoy the satisfaction of a completed sort.

I use Lego as a zen time as well. Some people do jigsaw puzzles, some do colouring books Lego is my stress free time. I think if I started doing mocs I would turn it into work and be stressed out too.

I was better as a kid at MOCing but my collection also wasn't so huge and it was a bit easier to keep track of what pieces I had but now it's too much of a hassle and I'm much happier just building what the instructions tell me to.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to do mocs, but whenever I sit down and try to build something it just ends up looking awfully plain and then I ragequit it.

Yeah, I hear you. On the flipside, I'm OK with making slight modifications to things; like the canteen at the bottom of the Death Star (as in Eddie Izzard's famous skit), or combining Avengers Tower sets to make them taller.

With MOCs, I wouldn't know where to begin. A blank baseplate! What am I supposed to do with that?! But give me a set and I feel more confident about making modifications...

I have extreme difficulty MOCing vehicles. Things like jets or cars, etc. The only vehicles I have been happy with are ships, but that at least has a solid base in the ship parts and I don't have to figure out a skeleton for the thing to form around.

I love all the JANG stuff I see, but actually try to avoid them. If I watch them, I will just want more sets.

I am actually trying to curb things some this year. I bought a ton of stuff last year, and am trying to be more focused this year. I think it was the sorting of so many sets into the collective and seeing the giant wall of backlog to open and sort that made me realize that the size of the collection is starting to get out of hand.

So basically, just UCS and Direct sets this year, and a few other sets through the year that look really nice. I think ransacking clearance sales just for parts is over now, as that is what made last year get so out of hand.

JUST UCS and D2C? That Captain Marvel & Thanos set is not on your list?

/enabling.

I also had high hopes for the new creator lighthouse. I think the lighthouse and building go together well in set 5770. And, as you've stated, the lighthouse looks more complete. It was also $10 less than the new set.

I don't own the Scooby-Doo lighthouse, but it looks nice. The back is open, but there are a lot of play features.

Pick up the new lighthouse when it's on sale and use the savings to buy more bricks to improve upon the original design. That's what's great about LEGO, you can always change things around.

I did say a few other sets that look nice. The Avenjet is at the top of that. And I want it for Thanos and Hyperion. :) Web Warriors is also looking mighty fine.

And I won't be getting all the Direct or UCS stuff. Just mostly that stuff.

I know I am not going to stick to this, but it is nice to think it.

I love it! I can't stop building houses. It's mostly a question of not enough bricks and not enough space in the street once I'm done. I thinking that I'll eventually have to make two streets, one for MOCs and one for official houses.

I went to an old town a few days ago and took a bunch of pictures of great buildings in the style of modulars. So many ideas.

I want to go back and make another modular. I haven't done one in years. The last modular style thing I did was the bookstore at the beginning of 2014. And maybe my church for the Halloween scene kinda counts.

But I am itching to do another house or modular, even if I tell myself I should branch out and try other types of MOCs and have a bigger skill set.

I regret paying full price for Rhino/Sandman Super Villain Team-up. I basically paid $10 per minifig because the build itself is garbage. Its this lines version of Hulk Smash Lab.

It has stickers up the wazoo too.

Brick built Rhino isn't bad at all. He's a nice size and very stable.
