Titles with the highest digital downloads.

Super Smash Bros. for WiiU
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
Mario Kart 8
Pokemon Rumble World
Mii Streetpass plaza?

Streetpass has had, what, eight DLC games? Not surprised they sold well.

Surprised Rumble World is over Shuffle, but Shuffle is gross and exploitative while Rumble World is surprisingly reasonable.

Wii U I agree with the above statement. The 3DS? i don't think so, I think the system can go on for another year or 2.

3DS has got no tentpole games left in the West aside from Fire Emblem. It could run a while in Japan, but in the west it's mostly running on inertia and otaku.

Don't stock price drops normally occur after meetings such as this one?

Yea they do especially when the predicted outcome was less than stellar. It's just been fun to watch the index rise over the last few days due to speculation of news (we all knew it wasn't coming). I just want to buy as low as possible.

Most of what the 3DS is getting this year in the States are either late localizations, lower-budget games, or from third parties. It may get through 2016 okay, but the same may not be the case for 2017. Plus it's already becoming clear that Nintendo's pulling back from major 3DS development just as much as they are from major Wii U development (if not more so).

I'm half expecting an investor to ask something about the NX during the Q&A and Mr. K him mid-sentence yelling: "WHAT DID I FUCKING SAY!?"

According to Cheesemaster's twitter:

So My Nintendo will become the Nintendo Account you're looking for.
Hoped for more info about how DeNA is contributing, also the first time they talked about it, it sounded like it was separate. I guess it's less confusing that way.

Important to note is that slide refers to revenue and doesn't count digital sales of full retail games, so the top 3 games refer to the DLC for those titles.

Streetpass also had the weird birthday room or whatever for $5, I think.

So this is what I predict to happen with NX now:

-Will be revealed until E3
-Very vague and briefly
-Because the damn thing will launch until 2017
-Will not replace either Wii U or 3DS but rather become a new pillar.
-Wii U and 3DS will get a bunch of crappy spin-off games to survive this year until Zelda U and Pokémon Z launches.
-Retro shows it's new game: DKCR 3 for Wii U.
-Meltdowns everywhere.

More likely...

Around March:

To whom it may concern:

Nintendo Co., Ltd. plans to launch a new platform family codenamed "NX" to succeed NINTENDO 3DS and Wii U systems in Los Angeles in the current fiscal year. We will show a playable model of the two systems in Los Angeles between June 14-16. NINTENDO 3DS and New NINTENDO 3DS has sold a cumulative 59 million units from its launch in January 2011 through to March 2016.

End of March:
Profit guidance set for the new fiscal year, with a large chunk of it being based on their new platform.

E3:
Nintendo has a press conference at the Microsoft Theatre, and shows off the system layout and goes all out with games (akin to E3 2006). New Mario, New Metroid, Smash Bros port, New Mario Kart. Zelda is announced to be cross-platform with Wii U/NX for overseas, but exclusive to NX in Japan.

September:
Press Conference in New York City for the North American press, and Nintendo Direct for Europe and Japan.

November:
Platform launch in NA/EU.

December:
Platform launch in JP.

Earn Platinum Points by using Nintendo's smart device apps, logging into the eShop. Trade Platinum Points to obtain original goods and digital content.

Earn Gold Points by buying digital software. Trade gold points for discounts on future purchases.

They also talk about playing games and interacting with certain communication from Nintendo as a way to earn points, but don't specify the sort of points it would be, although they point out that playing games on Wii U/3DS won't earn you points at this stage, but logging in to the eShop from there will.

These points are in addition to the current 'Just for you' and 'Birthday' discounts they offer.

They talk about expanding My Nintendo to include cloud services, friend management, and in-store bonuses in the future.

Maus and engagement.

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
QoL really has been a bit of a fucking disaster lets be honest. But then it was always a 'buying time' project until we got to the platform after WiiU really.

NX is launching this year still people. Dunno why people thought there'd be any unveil at a place and venue totally not suited to it. E3 is srs bzns time.

1. It's not succeeding the Wii U/3DS
2. It's already announced so a press release is redundant
3. Lol press conferences
4. They're not going to release it in the west first.
5. It's probably not 2016
6. Zelda is never going to be NX exclusive
7. They're not going to spend a large chunk of their investors briefing in March talking about NX.
8. People are bad at predicting.

I really want to see the MyNintendo slides in english.

There's a part there that could be interpreted as, you know, "I can redownload software I own like a regular account on anything else."

But we'll see.

Both the Wii U & the 3DS can't hang on for much longer, especially not the former.

1. You bought into the "third pillar" DS talk too?
2. A formal press release will quite obviously happen. What Nintendo has revealed so far is only a codename. How could that negate a press release?
3. We shall see.
4. DS, Wii, and Wii U all released in a Western country first. Don't be so certain.
5. We shall see.

So My Nintendo is the umbrella with the new nintendo account and nnids becoming a part of it?

They can easily throw small games and vc games and stuff on 3ds and wiiu till next years nx launch.

You guys expect a whole system to get pumped out and save nintendo when games barely make it out the door these days.

I fail to see how something that hasn't been released or fully announced is a disaster.

The fact that video game forum goers give a shit about a health product is ridiculous.

Never once has the QOL product had anything to do with their core business and was always intended as building a new revenue stream in to the health sector. Only Nintendo's most delusional fans had any belief that it was anything else worth talking about vis a vis videogames.

Ugh... I don't know why you're comment bugs me so much, sorry I don't want you to feel like I am jumping down your throat, it just that first represents a lot of the bad that comes with internet forums.

We have been making various preparations for NX so that it can grow into our core business after its launch. However, as we have been repeatedly saying, we will talk about NX next year, so I would like to refrain from making any further comments today.

I REALLY HOPE HE ONLY MEANT TO QUOTE HIMSELF, THERE

Could it be...nah I'm gonna keep my expectations in check for the 'lol nintendo still stuck in the 90s' actual translation.

How is it not succeeding Wii U/3DS? Those are the only two platforms they have, and they are in the wind down phase of their life cycle.

They have not yet announced their intention to announce/release the product at this point.

You can keep "lol"ing at press conferences. Nintendo has not announced a new platform through a Nintendo Direct.

DS/Wii/Wii U released in NA first.

It is very likely 2016.

Twilight Princess GCN was online exclusive in Japan. Wii U sold less than GCN there.

Never said they will. But they will include it in their profit guidance.

You are also predicting things here, unless you are somehow privy to sensitive information?

That being said, I can assure you we’re not building the next version of Wii or Wii U. It’s something unique and different. It’s something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base.
It's a "successor" in that it's the next system after Wii U (maybe) but they haven't and are probably not going to use that terminology for NX.
