Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Sam & Max Save The World finally popped up in my Ready to install list after being a no-show in January!

And yeah, two weeks without any new BC releases after Microsoft announcing their switch in rollout has been frustrating. I really want to see some Japanese 360/gen 7 console exclusive titles made available on Xbox One, so most of the available games being western, and the large ratio of the games being available on PC has been disappointing. Hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised soon.

Me too, this is driving me crazy. Just release it already.

And then have people complain about framerate drops which would lead into people saying that Microsoft doesn't know what they are doing, which would then lead into people saying that Microsoft doesn't listen to their gamers, which would lead into people saying that BC is a joke and a failed experiment.

yup, just look at how Reach launched, it's still kind of a mess but it was especially bad before updates

2 weeks tomorrow since they said they would release when ready and we've gotten 0 games added.

I've got a bad feeling we're gonna end up with like 2 games a month now.. If we somehow get ~10-20 games in the next 2 weeks then I don't really see the point in changing it since it's still basically still monthly anyway..

It's probably so people stop complaining "WHERE ARE MY FEBRUARY GAMES???"

So no idea if anyone else has this problem, but why don't 360 games with gold show up as free on the online marketplace? Not sure what I'm missing, changed my region to US from GB even at the bottom settings just in case my console was set at that when I redeemed it.

Yes, I double checked my memory and have some achievements on it.

One issue is I'm not on my "home" set console. Is there a way to find it from non-home console?
It shouldn't matter if you're sharing games as I have full access to my brother's lineup of BC titles as well as my own and we have each other's consoles set as each other's home unit. There do seem to be some issues with stuff that should be in the 'ready to install' list popping upon availability and I couldn't tell you about Gauntlet XBLA, but you might have to see if your counterpart unit can install it if seen on their list.

It's becuse they cannot keep up the rate of games being released they initially expected to. Now they will drip feed the disappointment out 1 game at a time.

I have a feeling it's all ready to go, they are just holding out because BLOPS3 isn't selling well and they want to push DLC before they release a superior game.

It was the best selling game last year, and even outsold the PS4 version.

I'm enjoying BC so far, but I can't help but think that if Microsoft could get 360 BC games onto the X1 store (hopefully they are planning to do this) then they would most likely get more publisher support. It would give publishers another potential revenue stream for their old games without really having to do anything other than give MS permission. At the moment for the average person you have to jump through too many hoops to go online and get 360 games that way, especially because you can't use your X1 credit etc, and people who have the discs already obviously aren't giving the publishers anymore money.

I think it's really important that they come up with a solution to this sooner rather than later, and then I could definitely see a lot more games being released on BC. A BC section on the X1 store would be cool.

They are working on it. No ETA. I'm sure it will come to us preview members first to test out.

I agree.

Funny thing on the disc point you made. I would actually be tempted to double dip for the digital version on my favorite 360 games if they had good enough discounts. I still like owning physical copies of console exclusives for my collection but if I can pick up a 360 BC game digital copy for less than a fiver then some of these publishers will get more money from me even though I already own the game.

Lol and I agree with this. Some of the sales that they do on digital games would definitely get me to double dip just for the convenience. Fingers crossed it will happen soon anyway, give those publishers more of an incentive to allow their games onto the BC list.

Now it'll just be "WHERE ARE THE GAMES???".. Which I think is even worse.

When they said they'd release when they're ready, at 16 & 10 in both months so far respectively, I think most people were expecting at least 1 game a week. We're going on two weeks since with a grand total of 0 so far. If it was going to take a month for a single game to get ready then releasing them when they're ready rather than monthly just seems.... completely pointless because in the end it's gonna be the same thing. Idk, just giving me bad feelings about it all.

Obviously we could get a good amount over the next 2 weeks, but so far it just feels like they knew there'd be barely any games in the upcoming months so used the "when its ready" to keep the heat off the extremely small monthly lists. Dunno, there's already a few games up and running like Tekken and it seems to run relatively well so far from what people are saying about it, I don't get why they don't just release it for everyone officially?

I already did this with a few games. I bought Tales of Vesperia and Eternal Sonata again when they were only $3.74 during a Namco sale last year.

The BC updates seem too slow to me, I want quality compatability but this is taking way too long.

I knew it would be and I kept my meager expectations very low.

I'm not expecting Lost Odyssey to get the BC treatment for a very, VERY long time (if it happens at all).

So with emulators, is there always input lag or no? I'm just worried about competitively playing COD multiplayer.
all depends on how they are doing things but I'm going to guess there will always be a frame or two of lag for control input and whatever sync adds to that time.

some games like gears 3 had multiple frames of delay, it was updated lately but need to get the disc out to try it again.

Okay. I've finally started to watch Twin Peaks and all I want now is to play Alan Wake on my Xbox One. Don't make me wait till the release of Quantum Break to make it bc. I don't have time then. Just give it to me now.

Better yet, give us Deadly Premonition on Xbox One Backward Compatibility.

I wouldn't pass on Alan Wake's American Nightmare being BC. I'm not a fan of the original Alan Wake for its lack of combat mechanic/scenario variety and how simultaneously linear and bare, yet oversized its level design was, but Remedy made a significant improvement in those areas with American Nightmare. I'm cautious about Quantum Break, but hoping for the best.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I'll see what's up on the home console.

[edit]

Seems it not popping up there either. Any way to rectify this or just have to wait it out?

Soooooooooooo, I'm curious. One game from Microsoft that hasn't been added yet is Uno Rush. Is that game still a thing? I miss it.

EDIT: Nvmmmmmm, that shit gone.
what about 1vs10-ohyeah

Thinking about Alan Wake being BC again, I sense that the 960x576p resolution is going to feel even worse in 2016. There was a leaked survey going around, that may or may not be real, showing that Microsoft/Remedy are considering an Alan Wake remaster. Get it up to 1080p on Xbox One with all the DLC and American Nightmare included as an incentive for preordering Quantum Break and that would be ideal. Of course, still make Alan Wake 360 BC for people who just want to play their existing copy.

I'm going to ask again since someone may know, any news any of the Resident Evils (4,CV,5,6,Rev) coming to BC?

No news, but I hope it happens. I have a desire to play the digital copy of Resident Evil 4 I have for 360 on the Xbox One.

I think a lot of those games are bound to get remastered for gen 8, which makes them less interesting candidates for BC than other titles, but it'd show some precedent for AAA Japanese game support.

I'd be okay with an Alan Wake remaster as long as it is bundled with Quantum Break.

it seemed somewhat promising when they first announced that they were changing how they were releasing new BC games. A few new games appeared to have popped up as apparently being tested and things were looking up.

that we havent seen a single game released since they announced that change is now starting to make me concerned, though. Now there's no hard limit for them to hit so we could get like 5 games in a month or something, especially at the current rate of 0 games put out since the change

I must admit that I am not impressed with it, either. I was excited for awhile, but so far it has been pretty damn weak. It has not lived up to the billing.

Tried playing Deus Ex the other day and the frame rate wasn't great at all. I'm not usually one to even notice stuff like this but I felt pulled out a bit.

Also the controls are fairly clunky, which is interesting considering I played this game when it came out and adored it. Maybe I'm turning into a bit of a snob.

Slightly off topic, does anyone know if Mankind Divided is meant to control the same as HR?

It saddens me just thinking about the E3 reveal.
Imagine watching the announcement then - but somehow having the knowledge of now that publishers would be slow to embrace BC and the tech was still very much a work in progress in the first place.

I used to be so excited about Backward Compatibility. Now I don't want to think about it; the disappointment hurts too much. I'm tired of waiting for games and excusing the tech when they arrive.

Yeah, I didn't have any issues with the small lists the last 2 months but when they announced the games would be released when ready, it sounded like instead of holding 8 or 9 games back until a certain point in the month when the 10th game is ready, they'd just release them throughout. Instead it's looking nothing more than an attempt to damage control how tiny the lists have gotten.

The worst part is both GWG games this month are games that's already BC too. It's as if they knew this months lists of games was going to be non existent. Again I have no issues with small lists but we're into our 3rd week since that announcement with a weekend coming up so it's going to be 2.5 weeks at the very least before we even get a single game. Things aren't looking bright, if it was going to end up this bad within 3 months then perhaps they should have delayed BC until later this year when there's a lot more available.

We know from EvB's lists they're at least testing some big games so the future is bright, but how far in the future are we talking? games like Red Dead will be obsolete by the time the sequel comes out this/next year.
