Games where the westernized box art is better than the Japanese original

Sure, Western covers of Japanese games typically looked like cheap rushed crap, but there was the odd good one here and there.

Super Castlevania 4 would be a classic example.

Same goes for Contra 3 and Turtles in Time.

Post more.

I dislike the minimalist ones Japan has, a shame they carried over eventually

I don't dislike the minimalist ones, but they only work because there are several games now and it's a tradition, back then SSS and PiT had the better covers.

EU/JP version would be better if it wasn't for Midna randomly standing on top of the logo text. Who thought that was a good idea?

Came to post this. I know a lot of gaffers like the JP Mario and Luigi box art but I much prefer the art we used to get.

I'll add the Partners in Time box art:

This, so much this! I get the idea of the minimalist design but I really don't enjoy it.

Project Zero 2: Wii Edition

I'm not saying that the JP cover is bad, but considering it's horror the European cover shows exactly what the game is. Plus I legit find it a frighting cover.

He's looks determined. Same reason american Kirby is better, though I'm not sure if it's determination or anger that fuels that one.
I'd say determination. It feels like a slightly better representation for games like Air Ride that can be rather punishing

As controversial as this may be...

Form, darling.

Never seen this before in my life but the Japanese one has a much grander scale to the clouds due to their form. Also, the Western cover loses the solar tint which makes it look even less multidimensional.

The arrowhead is now partially out of shot. It's basically a zoom-in with fewer colours. The Japanese font is prettier. There's no way the Western version is better.

Troll post? Because the Japanese cover art is Struzan-esque and incredible. This is what Indiana Jones posters used to look like and defined "adventure" in the 80s.

Which is extremely fitting to an adventure series trying to capture that same energy.

Troll post? Because wtf is going with Drake's face?

I would suggest this:

JP cover is way too busy. US one is pretty swank.

On the one hand I agree, on the other, the JP cover is by Ikeno, and it really should've been a simple one, with that art being like a wallpaper that came with the game XP.
