I don't find Johto to be anything special on its own. Gen 2 relies heavily on Gen 1, not only in terms of Pokémon but also the game itself.

It could have connectivity like Gen I with Gen II, something that's never been done since.
Certainly, but there were limitations to that connectivity. It's like how Gen 5 and Gen 6 were compatible through the Transporter. Like, yes they are technically compatible in some regards, but their connectivity was severely limited by the difference between the two games, namely new Pokemon.

If I want to watch the anime again, which is the season to get into?

Dude, you're in luck. If you just want to be nostalgic about it: Twitch will do a marathon stream of the early movies and anime seasons for the Pokémon anniversary!

If you are asking because you want to catch up with the story or something, the XYZ anime is alright, and if you are not dead set on catching up with ALL of the episodes anyway, just jump right into the current season.

Orre is the best region, anyways.

Best spot ever.

I just want them to include character customization again and more than hoodies and tracksuits for the male avatar. D:

YAWN

Ask me which Shakespeare novel is best
Kalos has the best dex, quality over quantity. Everything from the starters to the fossils and to the legendaries were awesomely designed and you could see how much care and thought were put into them.

Unova has the best story, the characters are well developed, and it was ace they incorporated the gym leaders and treat them as the hyped up machines they're meant to be.

Sinnoh has the best atmosphere, so chilled out and relaxing. Everything from the beautiful, historical, rugged landscape to the Jazz influenced music helps it accomplish this.

Hoenn has the best sense of adventure, you travel the most diverse landscape, including rain forests, deserts, oceans, and volcanoes. The music is triumphant, and besting your dad gives you that sense of progress.

Johto has the best progress between instalments, it took everything that made gen 1 big and made it bigger. It added so many staples to the series, and was what a sequel should be.

Kanto started it all. Personally, I don't find it all too appealing these days compared the other gens. It just doesn't match up, it's region is boring fields and similar looking towns. The Pokemon look bland in comparison to the newer ones, and everything else it had other regions do better, but it did start it all, and I'm grateful for that.

Great post. Taking this opportunity to say Xerneas and Yveltal are some of my favorite cover legendaries ever. Especially Xerneas.

I liked the idea of legendary Pokemon being mythical beasts of mystery and immense power. They had history with the world. Mewtwo had a cool story behind him. But when we got to the point that Pokémon were controlling space and time and one of them was God, I just felt.....I don't know. Not necessarily that it was absurd, because Pokemon was already absurd, but the the creator's vision of Pokemon and my vision of it weren't lining up anymore.

I actually completely agree, I find a clone of a pokemon hidden in a cave to be fun and interesting. Once we started getting into controlling the sea, time, and basically god, I got enough of it too.

I don't want another Gen 2, it was awful. The Pokemon distribution was so bad that it lead to Johto Pokemon being overshadowed by Kanto ones, both the regions were barebones and uninteresting and the level curve was complete and utter fucking shit.

Putting Kanto and Johto in one game was a mistake that I hope isn't repeated again.

Not reading through 30+ pages but has anyone mentioned the fact that a hacker a while back found 2 extra slots for the Kalos Pentagon?

ORAS

That's 4 right there. These new games might still be gen 6.

Certain things are pointing to Gen 6, but it could be anything at this point.

That's an awfully strong opinion that is thankfully untrue.

I'm already seeing people on the internet trying to shill the Moon version, they need to give up, Sun version is going to outsell it handily.

I agree with everything. Everything! It helps that everything you said is hard to argue with

Look at the whois data for PokemonSunMoon.co

Interesting stuff, though could easily be faked. You can put any data in when registering.

It was edgy but it was fun, I miss it.

It was nice having a different spin on a pokemon rpg that took a quite different approach to the formula. Obviously the whole "steal back shadow pokemon" was never going to be a serious replacement for a proper pokemon adventure.

But boy did Team Cipher get shit done. No other pokemon game is going to start with the bad team murdering the entire crew of a ship. Shadow Lugia was also a bamf.
