Monster Hunter Generations leaked (MHX)

About the challenge talk, my opinion is this:

Gen 1 was a clusterfuck. 2/3 of its difficulty was fighting the camera, controls, hitboxes, etc. Whenever I go back to MHFreedom, I want to kill myself.

Gen 2 was very hard, and a lot of it was for the wrong reasons. It did improve AI, and other stuff, but most of gen 1 problems were still there. MHFU difficulty comes mostly from insane damage from G monsters.

Gen 3 was kinda easy. But it got rid of almost all problems from gen 1 and 2. It made AI decent, and when you felt challenge, was because the monsters were doing their job, and not because of bullshit. They also refreshed the concept enough so that every monster species felt very different. Contrary to previous gens where it was almost the same Wyvern structure over and over.

Gen 4 improved on gen 3. Monsters' AI became so much better. IMO the challenge in Gen 4 comes from the monsters being smarter, and adapting to the land very well. They use verticality, distance and timing way better than ever before.

Being honest, I found Gen 4 about right in the difficulty. It did have some quests that were some of the biggest challenges in my MH "Career", maybe even harder than back in Unite, yet, it's very accesible. You can't expect every player to be at the same level of the ones who have been playing since the beginning. AND that's not good for the franchise. It needs to sell well, and that's good for everyone.

Even tho MHX has no G rank, I understand the variants give that extra challenge older players want.

I won't be mad if they jump from MHX/Generations to MH5 at once.

Not going to happen. Look at Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and many others. Capcom and Square Enix are releasing a shit ton of spin-offs and remakes before RE7, FF14 and DQ11 hit the market. First you gather everyone, then you release the main dish, it's how publishers usually work.

I think Capcom will announce MHXG HD and MHS HD for NX at some point, and then MH5.

While that IS the logic process (they sell 2 games, make more money, fill in gaps and extend gen 4 more), I could see them jumping to 5.

Reason being: Gen 4 did already have its G tittle, just, before MHX came. Since there is MHStories coming, it would feel weird to "interrupt" the hunting series with Stories, and then follow up with MHXG.

But, yeah, it would make some marketing sense if they do milk gen 4 just one more time before moving to gen 5. Strange thing is: they would be giving us MHG inmediately, without making us wait for "MHGU"... Maybe because MHGU could be HD and on NX? I dunno.

Whatever their plan is, I will be playing MHG, and stories if they bring it.

And as a person who just got into MH by playing the last one on 3DS, I have no idea what most of you are saying :(

I recommend you to visit the MH Wikia. There is a lot of info and learning about games you did not play can be fun. Since this series is so detailed and full of fun facts (a lot of which don't appear directly in the games), there is a lot of depth in it. You basically learn something new about MH everyday if you get into it.

I mostly agree wit you, except with "some quests" for the generation 4 quests, most of the lv120+ quests in the game were absolutely nuts, and in MH4 (not U) most of the last rank quests were balls to the wall, they were really diificult with the options the game offered back then, they posed a challenge way harder than any other MH in the past.

MHX while easier than MH4U it is still challenging in some ways, for example the lv 10 variant monsters which are quite difficult in some of them

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
I can't wait for this game to release!

Also just so you guys know a major complain that some players had with Monster Hunter X is that they shorten the Field of View (FOV) so don't be surprised when you see it in person.

Actually, yeah, MH4U had a consistent challenge. Even the early Low Rank quests seemed to ask more concentration than in previous gens.

When I say "some" I mean some specific quests from the main game, and I also mean the 120+ Guild ones, since those are kinda random. I say "some" are way harder than anything Unite offered. Because G in Unite is kinda bullshit in general, but manageable.

Molten Tigrex, Apex Rajang, Apex Jho, they have been some of the nastiest monsters the main series has had IMO. And the work on the elder dragons was amazing. Never had Teo given me such a challenge as it did in MH4U.

For instance, did you know Monster Hunter is a post-apocalypse? In the ancient past, humans made things like the Equal Dragon Weapon, a monstrosity made of parts harvested from over 30 mature dragons. Their war with the dragons was so epic and viscious that both sides almost drove each other to extinction.

Like Souls you can actually learn a lot of neat stuff if you dive into item descriptions. The Artian set for example is ancient powered armor, but it's long since stopped functioning and the MH blacksmiths are all 'well shit but it's still good armor on its own'.

Monster Hunter 3 was the first Monster Hunter I actually sank a ton of time into, and I kept waiting for them to explain all the neat ruins you can see everywhere. Sadly they did not, but it doesn't make it any less fun to see it in the background...

What are the chances of MHX/Generations to get a console (Wii U or NX) release? I gave up on MH4U coming to Wii U by now, but is there hope for MHX?
Very slim sadly.

Don't forget lv 120+ Yian-Garuga LOL

I haven't even put that much time into 4U (about 40 hours) but I'm down for MHX. I downloaded the demo on my JN3DS and damn that 3D effect is ridiculous. Classic MonHun game play aside, that 3D was the first in a long time that wow'd me.

Hopefully 8-4 did the translation!

and that is to scratch a surface of the actual content of MH, MH has a lot in common to DS because it never tells you any kind of lore or story.

for example the actual monsters in the game.

White Fatalis were supposed to be the leading elder dragon in the ancient wars. All Fatalis are implied to be Alien creatures that came from another world/dimension, the Crimson Fatalis is a wounded Fatalis that fled from Schrade Castle to a volcano to recover from its wounds, while White Fatalis has the power to summon the other Fatalis from afar, thus making a wild theory that White Fatalis was the one to start the war, while the other were summoned by it.

I really hope they do, they did a fantastic job with MH3U, but MH4U was somewhat lacking because of they partial absence (they still did all the dialog and they were really good)

The previous ones were pretty barebones, but 4 does have an actual story. The high rank part kind of petered out but the low rank part was pretty great. The early partial fights against Gore Magala that you still had to actually win were legit awesome.

Man, I don't know what they fed Garuga in that game, but he's an absolute bastard. Legit threat on every difficulty he's available on.
Yian-Garuga is fed on a diet of pure hatred and Kut-Kus.

I also like how the Gore you defeat is
the same Gore that becomes Shagaru.
Added a bit more of a rivalry element.

Sigh..... No idea

Might have to wait for their next project to know for sure

I hold out hope that we will get an upgraded NX port but really hard to say.

Even if its not the hardest fight in the game. the encounter with Shagaru was awesome.

no running. you vs it.

One leaves. I beat it first try, but learning all the patterns first run was nerve wracking.

Lurking the MH Reddit for lore-related stuff has been a fun thing for me to do, from time to time.

Learning that the whole lore bit about how the Fatalis armors have a tendency to possess their wielder, while Dire Miralis (thanks to its crazy "can regenerate from its still beating heart" properties) may just make its armor wearer into another Miralis one day was nifty to read.
