Combined PC/PS4 sales should put SFV over Fire Emblem.
If we go the digital route there is now way that SFV is outselling Fates because how you can buy 1 version an the rest as DLC lol

wew @ sony's attempt to buy into the fighting game market killing its biggest franchise instead. rip a bit.

It's a like a certain other pub trying to get its way into the action adventure genre by buying an exclusive.

Except that one has a clear future.

Sad about SF but this trend will continue I feel. People don't like to lose and need to be coddled. This new gen of phone game, pay to win, people will reject even more.

No way to make people accept losing unless COD model. Make you feel good, and give buffs, if your garbage with perks.
Huh.
Interesting comment.

Holy shit Street Fighter, Im glad Capcom got Sony to fund it tho, maybe that way they dont take that much of a blow and can keep doing their thing.

Outsold by Fire Emblem , this is crazy to me.

Worldwide Steam sales are at 129k.
That's still less than US Fire Emblem Fates retail.

Er whoops, I can't add.
Ok, so it beats physical Fire Emblem Fates in the US with worldwide Steam sales.

Not surprised about SFV's sales. That's what happens when you ship a game that doesn't have enough to fulfill the masses. I know plenty of people who would have bought a copy had it been filled with content. Capcom's gotta release a Super Street Fighter V or something, just name the "complete edition year 1" Super and see what happens. Jesus, those are horrid sales.

It doesn't really have anything to do with Sony funding it and more to do with Capcom deciding to release the game unfinished and totally unappealing to the casual audience. Why they decided it was a good plan to alienate a huge piece of the market, I have no idea.

I love SFV but this all on Capcom .
Thinking they could release a game with such little content in this day and age .
PS4 with good numbers.

Going by Steamspy numbers SFV's legs are already showing. The game will be fine as time goes on, but that 2 million by March forecast is donezo

Shipped, not sold. Which isn't to say they'll reach it, but that only selling this much so far doesn't mean they can't hit the number. Maybe they'll find some stores/territories to find a territory to dump a bunch of copies on to hit shipment numbers. Maybe they'll try to heavily discount it to get copies out the door before the end of March (and a new shipment into stores). They've got ways to deal with this. They're going to have the hope the legs on this are fantastic, and that EVO really gives it a shot in the arm (especially since the single player stuff should be patched in by then).

Wonder if they'll change their minds on not doing any other editions. They really need to do one.

People just like games that have actual content in them. I've put over fifty hours into the steam version of SFV, but there ain't shit to do besides online 1v1 and the worst survival mode I've ever played in my life just for some lousy colors.

Will retail even be on board to carry a new SKU of Street Fighter V at this point tho?

You do realize retailers carry SKUs of games that wont even sell how much SFV did in a month right?

It all depends on how much was shipped and how much got sold.

I can't believe how some people act dead surprised by the retail sales of SFV. It's one of those titles that will sell well digital. Who's gonna buy a physical disc when 50-60% of the game is missing? Capcom should have waited till end of April for release. This game will have legs. As soon as the content arrives sales will pick up and a complete edition will sell great!

SF V should have been delayed six months and features that are currently missing added in. Maybe then, it would have sold better.

Excellent PS4 sales. SFV's performance is terrible -- it raises a lot of questions about the future of the franchise.

You have to start to genuinely ask what the future of the Xbox brand is. Big shake ups coming I'm sure, as we are seeing with MS shifting to a PC / Windows 10 focus

At this point in time, I think the future of Xbox is to turn it into a digital distribution platform. After dozens of NPD, GfK Chart-Track, and Media Create reports, It's becoming increasingly obvious that Xbox, as a brand, has lost it's luster. If Microsoft are committed to going multi-platform, then they should take what made Windows and Office so successful and fully apply it to Xbox. If people can buy a Sony/Google/Samsung device and have access to Xbox then that could change the entire industry. Development, publishing, consumption, connectivity, promotion -- everything changes.

I think a lot of this stuff will be clearer after we find out what Nintendo are doing with the NX. I never thought I would say this, but Nintendo might be the deciding factor on whether Xbox survives or dies. If the NX isn't a traditional console then Microsoft might still have a shot in Xbox branded hardware. I think the future videogame market will support two consoles. If the NX is a traditional console (unlikely given everything Nintendo has said) then Microsoft should go full steam ahead (pun unintended) with their "de-coupling" of Xbox hardware from software. Failure to do so and they're done. I don't think the future videogame market will support three consoles. When push comes to shove, I think the future market will choose a Nintendo console over a Microsoft console.

lol are people serious? Retailers carry games that don't even break the top 40. The hyperbole is off the charts, next people will be saying all SFV copies were bought by capcom and sony agents.

Do we even have any instances where complete editions of games sold more than the launch edition?

We dont know if Capcom stuffed the channels in a way that retailers would not want another SKU if they still have tons of unsold copies of the previous one.

As long as they sold most of the copies they shipped I am sure they will be fine but they also wanted to sell 2 million copies of this one globally.

First impressions are EVERYTHING to a multiplayer game with a strong community. It's sink or swim and Street Fighter V is sinking. The game seems to have caught Unreal Tournament III syndrome.

So wait, are we now living in a world where Fire Emblem is a bigger seller than Street Fighter in the West

I like this world.

It is to be expected whenever you have that "it" game during a certain period. The same happened with Tomb Raider.

That's what I think they'll have to do because right now it's not going to cut it. All they need is a tagline, the additional content and then do a "rerelease rollout". If not that do something similar to Rocket League. They need to make a plan with Sony. I wouldn't even mind if they put an online "demo version" for PSN for 1 month. Make it have 3-4 characters or something. Let people play it and then let them buy it in full.

But yeah they gotta do a Super version. It doesn't even have to be a completely new version, just call it "Super" instead of "Complete Edition: Year 1" or something.

Yeah, it's no surprise it's expected really. I wanted Capcom to surpass my expectations but it'll be a long rough one. I really think they need to put a demo version for PSN+ for 1 month with 3-4 characters to have people check it out for a bit. That'll make them want to get the full game. Just something. Guaranteed years from now it'll make it's sales, no doubt about that. Capcom's gotta do as much as they can now though.

It makes you wonder what they thought in the offices. If they expected this.

Very surprised by Naruto. Didn't know it was that popular here.

I'm pretty sure it's also popular everywhere else. Naruto fanbase is one of the biggest and most active fanbases in the manga/anime world and with a game that offers a good amount of content to satisfy that fanbase plus something new outside of what's shown in the manga or anime, yeah it'll be a big seller.
