Now, I don't always agree with duckroll on things but he is right here.

Fate/Zero is the only good thing ever made in this series. The rest is all whack as fuck.

I've never been able to get into the games, especially the recent mobile one.

A Musou game could be interesting though.

To me the Fate series are like Fullmetal Panic, the main series I don't like but the spin-off series are the bests. People that haven't seen it go watch Fumofu/Carnival Phantasm even if you don't like the main series

Even though I barely got 2 bosses into fate/extra before getting bored out of my mind I'm still mad we never got CCC.

And I agree that zero is the only decent part of Fate, and god knows I've wasted my life playing all three routes of that shitty vn, which I wouldn't recommend anyone doing unless you hate yourself.

Servants (Playable Characters)

Nero Claudius (voiced by Sakura Tange) – A servant who fought through the Moon Holy Grail War. She also has a mysterious form change.
Caster Tamamo no Mae (voiced by Chiwa Saito) – A servant who uses various magic skills.
Saber Altera (voiced by Mamiko Noto) – Her first appearance in the main series after her appearance in Fate/Grand Order.

If these are the only playable characters... Eugh.

If Red Saber surprises you, just wait till you meet Pink, Alternative, Lily, Opaque red, Grey, Casual, and Mature Alternative Saber.

PS: keep your knowledge of Fate lore to just the Zero -> UBW stuff. Going any further takes down a dark path with no light at the end of it.

I loved the original VN, Zero and UBW despite their faults, and I am enjoying Extra, so sue me. Sure, there are numerous things I'd do differently, and the Nasuverse itself is a bleak, utterly FUBAR place in many, many ways, but I do love the series and many of its characters.

An actual action game in this series was long, long overdue.

... god I wanted to like UBW, but it was so boring.
It was talking, talking, and more talking... Which is fine in other series (IE: Monogatari), but boring here.


... Also should watch Carnival Phantasm just for the lulz.

There's a ton of running jokes in FGO about Sabers. Not sure if it's widespread in the fandom for the series though. They even did an event poking fun at it, Saber Wars. It was released around the time Star Wars came out. It had nothing to do with the movie but it was pretty silly.

Ah Fate/Stay Night, what an odd visual novel. Setting is fantastic (despite not really doing much with said setting outside a generic excuse for physical conflict, see Fate/Zero for a better use of the setting as a Death Game), the characters are neat, the dialogue ranges from errrrr to wat, and the exploration of heroism from three perspectives is very interesting. Also way too wordy for it's own good, really needed an editor.

Fate/Extra is probably better, but Fate/Stay Night gives me some fun stuff to think about. The animes outside animation and Fate/Zero are not great, you're better off with the VN. 2006 is such a mess it's just beyond hilarious.

Will see how this project goes. Fate hasn't been on my mind for awhile.

I really liked how you could walk around the school. It reminded me a lot of persona. And omg I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved the music for this game. It's also the same composer who did Zero's Escape's/999 soundtrack.

And I'll be glad to never play a JRPG quite like it ever again. Rock/Paper/Scissors where guessing wrong results in Game Over is the antithesis of fun.

Fate/Extra had a lot of things going for it but that combat system can go die in a fire.

Come on guys. You can like other sabers all you want. But even you know that you can't have Fate musou (regardless of which universe it's based on) without EKUSUKARIBA. It's like having a dragon ball game where nobody screams Kamehameha.
Or Naruto game without "RASENGAN"
