The Witcher 3 is now the Most Awarded game of all time. (Currently at 251 awards)

Principate

Saint Titanfall
GTA V took more GOTY awards in 2013 than the runner-up of 2015 did.

More awards were also given in 2013. Considering W3 got more awards than TLOU of course of it did, it would be much harder for the runner in 2015 to gain awards based on that fact alone.

But I heard that the combat wasn't as good as the game with the best combat in all of gaming. Heh

Well deserved. Witcher 3 was an amazing experience.

I think I'll go as far as saying it is the best game ever made.

It isn't going to be as influential as many games that came before it, but an argument could be made that is the best crafted sum of all the game ideas up to this point.

Best RPG of all time? Hell yes it is. The storytelling is far above any JRPG I've ever played, and the quest/open world design beats Skyrim, which was the best in its genre up to this point.

Well deserved. Game of the generation for me and will only be beaten by persona 5(hopefully!)

Also I don't ever notice those gameplay issues that people points out in combat in any game. I mean I don't ever notice that the 'controls are unresponsive' or 'chracter moves like brick'. I just play the game and always thought that it's part of the learning curve. Maybe it's because I mostly play RPGS and primarily looks for immersion in my games.

This was my experience with this game and Witcher 2. I actually enjoyed the combat in both games, but people make the shit sound completely unplayable. Not sure if I have a higher tolerance for jank, or what.

So many theories about why, with revisionist history as well.

Lotta salt from Bloodborne fans, and I say that as a huge fan of that game (it was my GOTY last year). Some people just can't accept differing opinions for whatever reason.

Good for CDPR, probably the most interesting open world I've ever played. Looking forward to Cyberpunk.

Best game I've ever played. Most engrossing world, best characters, best story, best questing, best conversation trees, incredible graphics and sound design, soundtrack, etc. The list goes on. It deserves every single award and praise thrown at it.

Easily.

Let's be real, all those awards are trash if Biogamer Girl's incredibly prestigious award is not among them.

That's the only award that matters.

How far CDPR has come in 3 games. It's truly remarkable.

I can't think of a game more deserving of all these allocades--it's ambitious, innovative, and successful in all the right ways.. Even at release, the Witcher 3 was an instant classic.

It's a shame I didn't love it as much as I would have liked to ): Ended up disappointed in just the wrong spots.

Witcher 1 still holds my heart over its sequels.

Heh. The game is loved deeply by those who it caters to, a beloved story that takes 3 games and a couple of books to get the full of definitely seems to be enough to sway the judgement of so many.
With how rarely games satisfactorily finish trilogy endings, (even more so when choices are involved), it's masterful to see a series improve so substantially with each entry.

I thought Witcher 3's handling of the titular Wild Hunt and its final third were incredibly weak ):

Unfortunately, its ending was still pretty decent as far as endings to big franchises go.

I miss when this was the Wild Hunt (spoilers for Witcher 1):

Instead we got fucking elves.

Incredible fucking game and I loved and hated how my choices panned and the ending I got was fucking heartbreaking, much like some of the best quests in the game.

BRB, going to spend another 170 hours replaying this beast.

That's more accurate to the book tho.

This was always gonna be an

since W1 so yeah...

Blegh.

It's a case of "what I thought in my head was not what I got so I hate it" syndrome. I loved the bog witches waaaaaaaaaaaaay more. Plus their theme is amazing.

But seriously fuck elves.
Felt like a really accurate repreentation imho.

What I'm getting at is that I don't really care that it's "like the books". I don't like the outcome either way and just felt it was too run-of-the-mill in too many ways for me. It didn't work for me at all. This includes the White Frost and partly Ciri.

I am just sharply critical because so much the game is perfect and "my game forever and ever" territory that the flaws just stand out that much more to me (also being hyped up about the Wild Hunt ever since the end of Witcher 1 doesn't help).

Well deserved. I think it might be the best single player game I've played. Really scratched the same itch that OoT did for me back in the day.

lol I've seen nothing but people use this as some sticking point against TLOU and strangely Bloodborne as if these games now suck with TW3 having 2 more award than TLOU. Really? Goes more for TW3 fans than anything.

Not really seeing this at all unless you take that comic seriously.

Here's the thing. Instead of celebrating, giving congratulations, or just ignoring the thread, why are people keep bringing these stuff to the discussion?
- Mainstream
- Shitty combat
- GTA V
- Bloodborne

An interview with Marcin Iwinski. Might not be interest to everyone as it is more generally about the studio than anything game related.

e: Also contrast with an imagined interview with the CEO of EA or Ubisoft...
It's of interest to me and it looks like it's Danny O'Dwyer as interviewer so even better. Thanks for sharing!

Right?! I haven't played Ocarina of Time but this scratched the same itch that Twilight Princess did for me as a boy. Except, instead of using my imagination to feel like I'm in a whole new world with cities and etc., CDPR painstakingly created every inch of one.

The Witcher 1's Wild Hunt isn't consistent with the books, The Witcher 3's is. So,
it was always "fucking elves".

What I'm getting at is that I don't really care that it's "like the books". I don't like the outcome either way and just felt it was too run-of-the-mill in too many ways for me. It didn't work for me at all. This includes the White Frost and partly Ciri.

Well, if it's any consulation. The handling of Ciri and The White Frost isn't great.
Ciri would never be able to stop The White Frost.
But then again, The Witcher games aren't canon with the books, so CD Projekt probably didn't care that much to match every single thing.

On that note,
if you think it should be about some evil monster instead of people being villains, then you were not paying attention to the trilogy.

That said, he didn't get nowhere near the development other main villains in the series got, specially compared to the ones from The Witcher 2.

Very much loved Witcher 3!

Congrats to the W3 team and I've been playing their games since W1 and have enjoyed them all.

Very well deserved, Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all-time!

I've been playing the Witcher since 2007 before the enhanced edition came out. It's been one of my favorite series through the years, it's probably my favorite ever given that Witcher 3 is my favorite game.

To those who wonder where to start, I will say that the original Witcher can be difficult to play because it is dated and has some issues but it's absolutely a fantastic game in its own right, even today. I played through it again less than a year ago and I was pleased with it.

The Witcher 3 is not a flawless game, anyway the bigger the scope of a game, the more difficult it is to obtain that and the Witcher 3's scope is as big as they come. It's a damned masterwork in many ways. I'm currently on my 3rd playthrough and I still enjoy it so much.
